looks like a destroyer class, very reminiscent of Babylon 5 cap ships (earth style).
Less modeling and more texture/shading, maybe if you did some of that they might consider adding ti Harry Seldon

^^ that would have looked good for a planet-based fighter, but since we arent going to be able to land on planets (soon? never?) i guess it wouldnt work.
the capital ship looks very interesting, the big thing in the front looks like it could be used as an anti-cap ship beam or somethin,
i think for an avalon, it should be incorporated into the hull with small doors that flip open to launch the torpedos.
very good work! i like it, more of a corvette class than a destroyer...

Yes. And by "yes", I mean "tonight"...when I was planning on playing...but meh. Been pretty busy recently, having gotten a new job and all. I've also got a few more models in the works, but I dunno if I'll keep modeling for this, as I have another project that I might opt for, since I'm just showing off at this point. :P
Edit: Watched Alien...gonna watch Aliens sometime soon.

Forgive me for saying this... but it kind of reminds me of the POA...

And I doubt the guild guys would want Microsoft on their back... even if it isn't remotely like the POA to any others here.
I'm sorry if I offend anyone.

See CP's post about the x wing.
Personally, I think it looks like HW2 awesomeness!

I bow to CrippledPigeon's infinite knowledge.
pirate_noob, Harry's models are cool, no doubt, but the devs have said what they really need are models with skin textures. Making a model doesn't take nearly as much time as coming up with a good texture for it.
Is there some "this is how you should texture" guide out there? I'm really a novice at this whole 3d stuff despite all the work in 2d ive done.

EDIT: Oh yeah, meant to ask, is there any interest in putting a gallery album up to compile all these ideas into one place for viewing? I've got about 30gb of transfer just chilling about...

Yes, texturing and doing a good job with it takes time and patience. If someone could tell me if .lwo files keep their UV texture layout when imported into 3D Studio Max, and what bugs & glitches I'd need to watch out for, that would be good. I've never had 3D Studio Max, and don't plan to, since it's not out for Mac.

Harry:
There are various ways of converting from .lwo to .max, and none of us are sure what works well and what doesn't, but Ray knows the .lwo format very well (he used to write lightwave plugins for a living). Any time you spend texturing in Lightwave wouldn't be wasted, in as much as we *could* use it. Whether we *would* is still up to John.

schweet, I s'pose.
I figured I'd bump this with my most recent picture. It's pretty simple, and didn't take all that long to put together. Used Terragen for the backround, and Lightwave for the ships.

No, those aren't Valkyries from VO.
I've got a few textures in the works, but it'll take a while to get a bunch together.

wow......
Dr. Seldon.
I must say... your work is tight.

Harry and I are planning a rather large project together. :) Harry's ships are getting very good, just keep on practicing texturing. Your modeling is excellent you just need to work on texturing a tad bit more.

My latest pic. I've gotten back on track in the meantime, and am back to texturing models previously posted in this thread, starting with one of the cap ships. And yes, Matt Walk and I are working on a picture together, which I hope will turn out well... ;)
