Just to show that stuff is indeed getting done:

Diffuse map nearly complete, a few touch-ups needed. I'll move the red over to another map as time goes on.

That looks pretty cool Harry. I'm gonna use Doga and try my hand at this.

I tried Dling it and it asked for name and e-mail etc. after filling it out it sent me to a trouble shooting installing page but nothing after that or any DLing.

Huh. I just tried it and it worked just fine.

Go to this link, and select the L1 version:
http://www.doga.co.jp/english/download/index.html

Hit next page

After that, you'll be prompted for your name/email stuff

The page after that, click the link to the mirror, & select a mirror

Download should start automatically.

Wow thx I did do it wrong hehe. And this looks alot more simpler than blender did that while back when I tried it.

Heh, that isn't be best designed site around. And from what I hear, DOGA is reaaaally easy to use, but it's very limited in terms of what you can actually create and use, which is why it's usefulness is limited to concept designs.

However, I think that it will make it easier for the community to come up with cool designs that more experienced people could put to use.

That said, Diffuse map is *nearly* done, I just need to add some decals and stuff. After that the Normal/Bump map shouldn't take too long, as I don't have elaborate plans for it. In fact, I may have it entirely done by say, Wed afternoon. If it isn't done by then, then expect to wait until the weekend. :)

Nevermind windows is teh gay.

Haha. While I agree, that's the only program I know that is *that* easy at creating concept designs. 'course, I'm going off of reviews I've heard from other folks, 'cos I've got a Mac, and don't want to fire up the PC to test it out.
Sep 25, 2005 Touriaus link
It's easy to create yeah that's not my problem at all.

Then try Wings3D out. http://www.wings3d.com/

My suggestions for everyday use in Wings: Set mouse buttons to 1 in Preferences, even if you've got a 5 button mouse, or whatever. Also, set camera style to 'Nendo'. Makes life easy. Also, make sure you turn on advanced menus. Saves time, while not changing the menus much at all.

Eh thx but just forget it I had the same problems with this as I had with blender. And the tutorials just expected me to know what they are talking about, that and the tutorial images we're different from what it told me to place.

I get sick of dealing with the crap on computers really quick.

0.0 looks at Harry's latest design...

Bravo! I'm truly amazed at how congruent you managed to make those textures look with the current Vendetta universe.

Couple spots that look like they may need a little touching up are the cockpit glass... and the ventral guns. Otherwise that is some truly impressive work.

edit: one other idea, what about making the Y-shaped decal on the dorsal hull colored also? Dunno, just a matter of personal preference really.

I really like this one, Harry, It Fits the Serco style well. I think it'd make a great alternerative to the Prom as a medium/heavy fighter/bomber, Just a bit more maneuverable, about the same firepower, but not the armor.

Finish up the specular and bump maps and it'd be good to go! I'd love to see this design in the game.

/me agrees with Apex... it does look very Serco-ish.

...or what if it were a Corvus special? When I first saw the model the first thing that popped in my head was "Pirate ship." It's got a very menacing shape.

Also, just how big do you picture this thing, Harry? Looking at it I kind of imagine it being substantially bigger than the vulture, perhaps a little smaller than the 'taur. Perhaps with 2L, 2s ports... like a heavy gunship.

edit: although the size of the cockpit does make it appear on the smaller side. Hmm, another 2s port fighter? Maybe a heavier version of the vulture with more armor.

Just an update here as well, been pretty busy the past week and a half, but got a little bit of texturing/materials done, this is not the latest image, will replace this one with better one when I get home.

turrets are not in there final location and this is still preliminary coloring. Hope you like, comments and critiques are welcome. B)

That thing looks so badass johnhawl! Very nice work.

Couple comments: the textures look very sleek, almost too sleek. I'd say they need some more "noise" to give the ship more of a metallic feel. Plating, scratches, rivets, etc... It looks very cool right now but the textures don't really have the VO feel to them.

The Deimos could probably also use some more scratches, plates and rivets too... check out the screenies of the Valk, Prom, and Maud.. even on a sleek Itani ship like the Valk you can still see plates, bolts etc...

Also, the Halcyon is a cap ship? If so those are some huge ass guns it's carrying.

Your right on that Phase, the lighter colors I plan to raise and then in the darker reigons I'm going to give it that "greeble" look. Want those large areas to be like large hull plating, may add smaller vein-like lines in them for smaller sub-panneling. And of course I'm going to noise it up a bit for final texture. There is no bump/norm map yet. =) Thanks for the suggestions!!

Oh, and yes, they are large cannons, IMO, this IS the Mobile Goliath Cannon :)~ It's suppost to be a destroyer of cap ships.

May have been linked already, but this looks like a great place to get a variety of free texture samples: http://www.mayang.com/textures/

New revision, with basic bump/normal maps, and specularity map which got somewhat b0rked along the way - I'll be replacing it. >_<

The Illumination & specularity maps are most of the reason that it's looking so 'different' from the original, but I didn't have time to tweak it before I went to bed last night.

As for what it's intended for, I was thinking Serco (even though I wouldn't be able to fly it. >_<), or a Corvus raider, with a similar loadout to the Prom, with 2 light ports and 1 heavy. Phaserlight, you were spot-on with your estimation of it's flight capabilities - heavier than a Vult, lighter than a Prom.

1st rule of my designs, is that you don't count the guns. I personally think that weapons may have multiple mount points for a single gun/rack of missiels, and when you mount the weapons, the ROF (ought to) vary per ship for the same weapon, even if you have the same number of mountable weapons when you go to equip your ship. For example, on the Deimos, it may only have 1 L port, but be able to fire off swarms from either bank of 4 ports alternatively. So, each 'opening' can't hold as many weapons, but they can unload quickly. Or something.

As for it's size, I was thinking that this would very nearly be a 2 seater cockpit (one right behind the other), on a scale similar to http://fs2source.warpcore.org/wmcscreenies/perseusred.png
So, I estimate it's size to be between the Vulture and Centaur, perhaps with the same wingspan as the Centaur.

And yes Phaser, I think I'll be changing that center panel area, at least partly, to the alpha map

Edit: Phaser...o.o I'm loving those textures.

Pfft. Maybe it just so happens that on the rest of the internet, pages aren't usually wider than the 885 pixels I have my browser window sized at. I'm not going to waste screen space for you.
