Ok, here we are. 200k+ polys :) I have a low poly version that I've been playing around with Normal Mapping on, which I may post once (and if) I get texturing done.

Anyway, I've tentatively named it the Roadrunner:

I wouldnt mind flying one of those in game, if you get the all the textures and uv mapping done you should seriosuly consider submitting it.

Perhaps they could be Grey faction ships? we need some more independent ones. :)

I have to get around to modeling some of my concepts.... ewww.. school..

Oh and just on a side note, does anyone know the exsact number of accounts active for vendetta?

708 based on the guild stats, but what about those outside of the guilds?
Oh and based on this the guys at vendetta are currently making about 7080 dollars a month and about 84960 a year split between the four of them for a lovely 21 k each.... Yet again I dont doubt that after tax's. server cost's software, food, gas , electricity and all that stuff the devsare not making much extra buy whatever the hell you want money.

Honestly im just guessing based on what I can tell from forum analysis and active accounts over time in game, the vendetta active chart and what accounts are actually logged on over the course of a month, which from what I can tell does range between 500 different people at different times to 750 a month actually playing vendetta *not just once, these are just the different accounts activated in one month, only counted once even if they had logged on 70-80 times*. with a usual average of about 35 users, a low of 12 users and a high 55 users online at one time.

I have been thinking about the idea of cargo barges for a long time, and how it would add a new twist to the game, being able to steal cargo off a moving ship... I drew up a barge in wings, shown here with 2800cu of cargo...

The basic shape looks fine. I'm not sure what the justification would be to have all the cargo out in the open like that - it seems a bit... Silly.

it's to make moving large amounts of cargo at a time risky. attacking pirates have to make it through the barge's turret space to gather cargo, but they can rob you just by flying through the cargo area. carefull loading order can help protect your more valuable cargo by keeping it burried underneath the rest.

a barge like this would likely be so armored and heavy, that it would move slow and be fairly indestructable... which I think is good, so long as there is a significant risk of theft.

this would make flying a ship like this really require escorts.

Hahah! As a pirate I think this is a neat concept. Put the cargo out in the open, available to anyone who makes it through the barrage of turret fire.

Although I don't think it would be too realistic. I mean, first off, you would need a massive amount of tethering, just so that when you changed course, the cargo wouldn't just keep on keepin on. And that would make the whole easily scoopable by piratable types thing sort of defunct.

But I like the model.

maybe tethers are the answer, and you have to shoot them to release bundles of crates... or cargo could be held in place by an energy field.

I think a ship like this should be able to just pick up cargo by flying into it, so that guild members can load by flying in front and dropping cargo. so the energy field makes more sense, and would only require some blue fuzziness around that area, like an exit dock.

an energy field would also, in theory, slowly damage the pirate... (but I mean, 4 AGTs ought to do that as well.) so it would discourage moth drivers from floating in slow and filling up. it should be something you can turn on and off, so you can let guildmates/mission partners fly in to gather cargo for delivery.

texturing is gonna have to wait until school is over. Still having troubles wrapping my brain fully around Maya's texturing setup.

ive made some additions... I still need to add some more detail to the moon and the ship, but its looking good so far. Im debating whether or not to put a second ship further out in the background.
