FM, don't lock it! It's our thread... Then we'll have to start a new one, and reincarnated threads are generally flamier than originals.

Please don't attempt to debate my actions here. It's very presumptuous. Regardless of whether or not your opinion was also the truth, you may not post inflammatory remarks here.

The INM still has more members than you. :D

I will continue to throw my allegiance on a case by case basis. I want no involvement in this war, my only concern is for the safety of Neutral Traders and our flag and I shall fight tooth and nail for whichever side chooses to respect the soverignty of the Neutral Territories.

[flame deleted earlier - server went funky before I could post]

I am not aware the listing people who were putting their money on SAW and commenting on what they are known for is flaming...

The war rages on, yet more innocents are drawn into the fire. As groups of warriors stem together in battle in sectors 11, 9, 7 and 13, the traders once more suffers because pilots at war fail to notice please ofr help due to the excessive amount of spam in the chat, and pirates once more reign free as they chose the wise path, attack the traders while the war goes on, and blame it on the war.

This shall be.. interesting.
Mar 23, 2004 SNUFFALUFFAGUS link
Would it be completely out of the question to assign just one, out-of-the-way sector where people could pirate and grief all they want without any challenge from other Millitaries and the like? Or if the devs were to be so kind as to create a new sector for this with the most expensive trade items around there? That way people who are uninterested in the whole RPing thing could just go there and have a jolly old time in complete anarchy...

Intresting "sugestion" and ive seen similar ideas thrown around before. The players who are only intresting in fps, will soon be on there way, with the reputation system. This will make it difficult for players to get away with killing everything in sight.
Hopefully its only 1 update away hehe =)
Mar 23, 2004 Pirogoeth2 link
The system will also be interesting... what will determine it? What if some guy makes a new account and comes ramming you in a bus with a flare, you have to kill him because he is shooting at you but won't it hurt yer rep?
Mar 24, 2004 Alexis Duran link
The thing is, do you have to kill that bus? no..
Mar 24, 2004 Spider link
o "But he shot after me"
- So? He's a noob. For all he knows the red dots are always hostile.
o "That gives me the right to kill him a couple of times"
- No. Do you mean to say you really felt threatened by a noob in a bus? I am amazed.
o "Of course not"
- Just too proud to move away and dodge?
o "erm, he shot at me?"
- Exactly. He thought you hostile, you prove him right. If you want to teach him a lesson, dodge, and hit him down to 70%, then back off.
o "But he shot me?!"
- Oh mighty warrior. Now I know why players such as you never cease to amaze me.

if this bus doesn't respond to chat messages and back off, then yes, if you have given him fair warning you do have to kill him.
Oh, and a n00b wouldn't have a flare

--------------------

You "have" to kill him? Shoot him down to 5% and let him run, then explain in capital, sector language (to get his attention) that "NOT EVERY RED DOT IS HOSTILE!"

And random, probably the first instinct of a newbie is to ditch his crappy little ion busgun and load up on the big stuff (rockets).
Mar 24, 2004 Pirogoeth2 link
Example referring to some random player making another account to ruin other people's rep.
Mar 24, 2004 Zeplin link
Yeah Spider, That situation is common with newbies, The bad part is when someone does create a new account, And then goes out with the intent to strike a talking player with a rocket bus or such.
Like most players, If i see rockets going my way and i was caught off guard, Ill shoot and dodge as fast as i can to get the enemy to back off.
Anyway, life goes on.
btw, We have a web page with the names of our members, So dont be fooled by impersonaters.

Things are starting to cool down in game, We are still educating our members. It seems that we are on the right track. I havnt had any reports of problems in game or on the boards for a while now.
And all the past problems have been delt with afaik.
Mar 24, 2004 Spider link
glad you are getting things cooled down, means less worry for me, even if I'm always dubious towards guilds.

perhaps it is time to try and converge on "good guilds code of ethics" where guildmembers agree on best practice to behave when they mess up (not "if" . When. ) and kill "innocents". One idea is to volounteer and lay down your ship and life to the one you killed, a bit more symbolic than to repay their ship which a lot of players are practicing.

Mar 24, 2004 Pirogoeth2 link
I believe part of the reason why everything is calming down is because people got a lot of their annoyance and anger out in these large battles, so calm will probably come for a while.
Mar 25, 2004 SirCamps link
True, and less SAW have been on every since a few unnamed Serco vets have switched to NT.
