/me checks to see if he put his deodorant on

Oh, I've been seeing increased tensions between Serco and Neutral lately. We're starting to lose focus here, people!! Ally WITH each other to destroy the evil Itani empire. We need FOCUS!!

United We Stand!
Devided We Fall!

Although I do wish to point out the small, tiny error that occured with the OLD Serco-NT Alliance (points out the Rydell Incident).

With the SDF a shadow of it's former self, we all need to decide that if a treaty is to exist, who can mediate the differences. The SDF no longer has it's old stance nor it's old firepower. Someone needs to step up and take a chance at being a diplomat. The SDF won't be able to do it and needs help, on both sides of the treaty, not just Serco.

NT doesn't necessarily agree with Serco, ya know.

Evil itani empire... Arolte, can you talk?
Mar 25, 2004 Arolte link
Hehe, I like how an Itani dude pops up and says, "Welllllll... NT doesn't necessarily agreeeeee with Serco, you know. Yeahh...." And yes, I can talk. I'll be more than happy to send a voice recording of me saying "Evil Itani Empire" in aiff format. Just gimmie your e-mail address and I'll get right on it--just to prove to you that my vocal cords are fully operational.

Fine, arolte, do you consider yourself in an okay position to decide who is evil, when you yourself is known for bus killing?

Oh, and AgY is NT now? Does he still follow his shoot first ask questions later style?

I just backed up to look at the title of the forum. This is ROLE PLAYING people! If a member of a nation wants to consider another nation evil, roll with it.

Is it wrong in the world of roleplaying to examine the validity of a person's statement considering the character of the person in the game?

Hmm. At 42 members, I think we can safely say that the INM outnumbers every other guild combined. Plus our backlog, which I really need to get to adding. Excuse me.
Mar 25, 2004 SirCamps link
Half of INM probably doesn't know the difference between a bus (EC-88), superbus (Wraith), and uberbus (Rag). :P

Piro, on a related note, I kinda dislike how enemies "examine the validity" of statements. In world conflicts, do you try and prove anything to your enemy? Did Bush have to prove to Saddam that Saddam was evil? He didn't. Did the US, France, and UK try and prove to Hitler that he was evil? Or Reagan about the Soviet Union? no.

-Related note? Do you mean unrelated note? Because I have no idea how this ties into anything.

Soon we may be examining the validity of moving or locking this thread.

But it, um, looks like role-playing to me...

DISCLAIMER

I don't hate anybody in Itani personally. If you look at my character bio you'll notice that he strongly discriminates towards anything related to Itani nation. I gave my character a background that is based on the Itani destroying his homeland, and causing these bloody wars in the first place. For all I know neither side is really right, as it's an eye for an eye situation, but just remember I'll always be looking at things through the perspective of Serco. The whole Neutral Territory part was to dodge a draft, and could still hold a future for my character as his storyline develops.

I hate to point stuff like this out because I think it should be obvious, but since in this case it appears to be going slightly overboard I thought I'd offer a heads up. I don't know where everyone else stands in this discussion. I was just assuming that some of you were acting along too. Apparently not. Just remember, if something sounds so stupidly outrageous chances are I'm roleplaying. Same goes for the cheesy taunts in the game.

Camps, if you didn't notice one of INM's purposes is supposedly to help people(Itani specifically) improve:P

Also, reallife parallels to games is still pointless, since the stakes are very different.
Mar 26, 2004 Arolte link
Your argument of INM's goal is irrelevant. Roleplaying works by choosing a nation, creating a character, and picking a role that you'd like to play out within the game. The character can be friendly, evil, crazy, stupid, goofy, funny, etc. It's up to the player to decide. Whether the enemy (for them) has good intentions or not is irrelevant. They're still the enemy regardless. If anything their goal should be to stop enemy trainers and traders, because those two types of people will only end up strengthening the enemy more.
Mar 26, 2004 roguelazer link
If the enemy was clearly defined, you would be right. But since we have enemies mixed in on all teams, it's rather harder to do. There are Itanis who hate the INM, and Neutrals and Sercos too. Most of them don't have guilds (or are in secret guilds *coughsawcough*), and we can't just randomly shoot everybody...
Mar 26, 2004 Arolte link
AFAIK the game is split up into three teams. Anyone not on your team is an enemy. Anything beyond that is roleplaying. Through roleplaying you can break those boundaries to some extent--make friends with other nations OR play the game as a lonely pirate. The lack of friendly fire right now limits some of the roleplaying aspects of the game, unfortunately.

PS: Yes, internal conflicts between teammates happens. It's just an inevitable part of the game. Also remember that there are players with multiple characters.
Mar 26, 2004 Pirogoeth2 link
That isn't right arolte... People on other teams can be your ally, ever heard of your enemy's enemy is your friend?
Mar 26, 2004 SirCamps link
Well, Arolte, consider the example of Florian (Furball), who before switching to Itani, kept broadcasting Serco team chat either globally or possibly within an Itani/INM group chat (I have no way of proving this, except what I'd say on teamchat would end up being used against me). How do you deal with people like this? Obviously, guilds. When groups get distinct FF restrictions apart from their nation, then you will see true alliances and the meaning of guilds.

All of a sudden, INM might start hunting Yooyooma, and there won't be a thing he can do about it. There similar golds who don't like Thargoid. Being an outlaw takes on a whole new meaning with guilds in the game that can hunt you down even if you are of the same race.
