Double-Elimination Universal Championship Title Tournament

May 14, 2006 Cunjo link
The Tournament will be sponsored and coordinated by the Serco Dominion's SkyCommand Assault Regiment. Anyone is invited to compete for up to two of five titles and prize money. The Titles offered are based on class, with five classes total. Each competitor may enter to compete for the title and prizes in no more than two of the classes. The entry fee is 100,000 credits per class entry.

In each class, competitors will be assigned to a double-elimination tournament grid position. They will compete against each other in matches of three rounds each. The winner of two out of three of the rounds wins the match and moves up to the next level, while the losing player is eliminated and moved down to the second-elimination grid to compete for second place. Before each round, the competitors must announce their chosen ship and configuration for the round. See a list of DISALLOWED/BANNED equipment in the RULES section at the bottom.

PRIZES:

The first place (undefeated) winner of each class is awarded the class title and 2,000,000 (2 Million) credits in prize money. The second place winner (with only one elimination) is awarded 1,000,000 credits in prize money for a total of 15,000,000 cr in prizes for the tournament. All titles are retained until the next event.

The classes and titles are as follows:

1.
Class: Lightweight Class
Title: Lightweight Champion
The following ships qualify for the Lightweight Class:
EC Series (all variants)
Centurion (all variants EXCEPT for: Itani Border Guardian)
Vulture (all variants EXCEPT for: Serco Vulture Guardian)

2.
Class: Heavyweight Class
Title: Heavyweight Champion
The Following ships qualify for the Heavyweight Class:
Atlas (all variants)
Marauder (all variants)
Warthog (all variants)
Wraith (all variants)

3.
Class: Super Heavyweight Class
Title: Super Heavyweight Champion
The following ships qualify for the Super Heavyweight Class:
Hornet (all variants)
Centaur (all variants)
Ragnarok (all variants)
Behemoth

4.
Class: Prometheus Class
Title: Prometheus-class Champion
Prometheus pilots may compete using any variant of the Prometheus warship

5.
Class: Valkyrie Class
Title: Valkyrie-class Champion
Valkyrie pilots may compete using any variant of the Valkyrie fighter

Remember: You can only join in two different classes! Amongst other things, this is to ensure that titles are given to at least three different competitors.

.

RULES:

No pilot shall ever equip more than one tube of seeking missiles of any kind. This is to prevent spamming and 'noob-toobing'. If more than one flight of seeker is live at a time, the judges may deem it spamming and the offending party will forfeit the round.

The following weapons/equipment are not permitted:
ANY nonstandard battery (Hive FC, UC, etc...)
ANY nonstandard weaponry (Hive Posi, Hive Gat, etc...)*
ANY equipment requiring a badge (Certian Railguns, etc...)**
* Neutron Blaster MK IIIs and Law Enforcement Neutron Blasters may be used ONLY if both combatants agree to allow them before the round.
** The EC-107 may be used ONLY if both combatants agree to allow it before the round
** Megapositron is OK

A pilot may fly with an ordinance-only layout, however if they do and deplete their ammunition before killing the other player, they automatically forfeit the round; if BOTH players use ordinance-only, both parties will forfeit the round if one runs out, and the round will be re-played. To prevent abuse, if this occurs more than once in a match, both parties will be ELIMINATED.

All ships and layouts must be announced prior to each round they are used in. Players are permitted to change ships or layouts between rounds and may postpone a round (within reason) until a layout is decided upon or a compromise has been reached.

No draws will be awarded; if your explosion or leftover ordinance kills your challenger after you die, they win the round – the first person to be destroyed loses the round. If the win of a round is disputed, chat logs must be submitted to determine the winner, and will be validated by the judges of the match.

Two judges will be present at each match. Players wishing to help judge must register with SCAR prior to the tournament. To register as a judge, visit this thread: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/7/13728

Anything else goes.

.

TIME TABLES:

The Tournament will begin as soon as two registered competitors of the same class are paired up and online. Players will be given one week from then to register for their classes before new entrants are turned away. The Tournament is not restricted to a certian time schedule, and will continue until all matches have been won or lost and the winners determined.

Tournament Officials (judges) may choose to remove competitors from the tournament if they do not show for an extended period of time.

Wow. I LOVE these parts:

"Centurion (all variants EXCEPT for: Itani Border Guardian)

No pilot shall ever equip more than one tube of seeking missiles of any kind. This is to prevent spamming and 'noob-toobing'"

It's funny cause it makes it sound like Cunjo doesn't spam. Anyway, I'd like to sign up for whichever class doesn't have spamming/backrolling/running fuckers, so I don't have to fight you.

"I'd like to sign up for whichever class doesn't have spamming/backrolling/running fuckers, so I don't have to fight you."

Says the one who repeatedly spammed me and then ran away when out of spam or damaged less than one week ago. In front of RelayeR too if I'm not mistaken - do you have a guide to corroberate your accusation?

Don't even start with me, you spamming, backrolling and running sissy.

Since you can't fight in a class without yourself, I guess you'll have to sit this one out.

Yay! The smack-talk continues into the RP forums!

I'll enter in the Lightweight and Valkyrie classes. (Are Rev C's included?)
I'll be entering an Orion Revision C Centurion and an IDF Valkyrie.

Oh, I'll judge, too if we need judges.

It's called griefing, tardo, and seemed to have worked, judging by the fact that you got no playing time for 25 minutes.

[Mean stuff deleted. See folks? I am learning!]

Why is the Rev C allowed, but not the IBG?
May 14, 2006 Ghost link
CI'll register for the Lightweight class and the Valkyrie class.

Two questions:

Are n3's allowed?

Why is FC bat not allowed?

I think IBG is out because not everyone can get it. My only beef with this is that if IBG is not allowed then SVG should not be allowed either.
May 14, 2006 Will Roberts link
The Shedu will register for 2, 3 and 4
May 14, 2006 Cunjo link
Good point Ghost, on the IBG/SVG. I should knock the SVG out too, and will do that when I update that post. IBG was out for the accessibility issue, and also that it's currently more powerful than the Rev C and Vulturious, which are pretty much on a level with the SVG after the last nerfing... and I didn't want to have one ultimate ship in that class. I'm not making a seperate class for the IBG/SVG, so they'll stay out of the tournament.

That's the HIVE FC battery, not the traditional FC. The Hive FC isn't really much better, but since it's something that very few people have a supply of, I'm disallowing it, along with all those other hive gadgets.

I'll have to think about N3... now that Unbots are dropping them, it shouldn't bee too unreasonable to expect UIT to be able to match... anyone have any thoughts on this?

Will Roberts and Mintebi, you'll need to pick only 2 of those - only two different class entries per player, mostly so we're assured at least three different winners.

thurisaz, the raptor hasn't been accurately classified yet and it could still change substantially before the tournament is over, so sorry, no raptor. It wasn't even in the game when I initially planned this event.

Everyone else, I'll get the lists updated with your entries as soon as I get the first tables done.
May 14, 2006 mcduff link
Hrmm a moth class would be nice. Also I did't see a time on the event. And what are the prizes? Will they be possibley be badges or will they be cash? Perhaps mr.leber could put his skills to use in making up some badges for the various player orginized events. Oh yea, the superbus should be eliminated as well.

EDIT: Just went over Cunjo's first post and noticed the prizes.
May 14, 2006 Cunjo link
Time... there is no time. it goes down when the entrants are available. It could stretch out several weeks, though we're hoping it won't last more than one since the divisions should be reasonably small.

I can add the moth to the super heavy list if you want... I just didn't expect anyone to actually try and FLY that target in the event... they're not exactly uber anymore.

I'll knock the superbus off if people want, but since it's essentially just a bus-shaped Rev C... I don't know.

EDIT: How's this?
May 15, 2006 Gavan link
Count me in. Light and heavy will do.
May 15, 2006 Ghost link
Cool graphic! And good idea for the tourney btw.

Heh, it appears my illiteracy blinded me from seeing that it's a Hive FC that is prohibited.

Wait, gavan's in the light competition?

Crap.

As for the N3 issue. Maybe it could be left up to the dueling players? So if one person doesn't have access, he can request that his opponent not use N3's.
May 15, 2006 Cunjo link
Thanks and Thanks

That sounds good for the N3 issue... I'll rewrite it again tomorrow for that - I'm too tired for tonight...

PS. those icons were kinda hack-together, and I've since had a few revision ideas... these would replace the S one (Super Heavy) but I'm not going to bother making ones for the others unless someone wants them.

Hmmm... if the lawguns, which are as easy to acquire now as the neutron 3s, are disallowed because of ease of availability, then the neutron 3s should be disallowed, too. Same rationale as the IBG.
