Hey Cunjo, you sure you don't want a more traditional form of pairing, other than just first come first served? Something that reflects a ranking system?

For instance, you could use the death/kill ratio, duel stats, etc etc.

In theory, the ideal pairing in elimination events is one that does not put two of the best participants together in the first round. But that is only in theory, it doesn't get "fair" no matter how you put it together. That's why a drawing (random) is better. Right now with the alphabetical order, you can enter a char with a name designed to shift you down to the next match on the list.

Gavan, Duel rating and K:D wouldn't work, since not everyone duels a lot, and while some people run from any fight they can't win to preserve a high K:D, other's just don't f***ing care, and will kill themselves to get home faster (I do it frequently). If you think you can find a solid, analytical and objective way of arranging them, be my guest.

Cyg, correct, though now that the first copy is made, all future entrants will just be appended. The Entrants will be re-paired in the second elimination round by order of elimination anyway, so it shouldn't matter if one of the best players gets knocked out right away, and really, this way, it's not any more fair to pair a top competitor with a newb than with another top competitor - probably even less-so.

I'll consider reshuffling the tables before we begin this weekend (IT BEGINS THIS WEEKEND)

Well, nothing's really going to be all that accurate. I just thought that because you were using a traditional tournament table, you might want to use a traditional (albiet flawed, but then so is the table method when we're talking about a video game) method.

Regardless, in the end I could care less. Its your tourney. I'll just fight whoever you put in front of my aap stream.
