I seem have the same problem as baronfel and Lord Q.
I have Microsoft Sidewinder and when i try to assign hat to something it doesn't seem to recognize button properly and says JOY0???. When i hit apply client crashes. Assigning any other buttons then hat doesn't couse problems.
I set it up in config.ini and there are no problems.

I'm running 10.2.8, and I downloaded the client. When I open up the Vendetta Client thing, it briefly shows the icon on the dock, and then dissapears. Help, please! I've been waiting for almost a year for this client release, and would really like to be able to test it right now.
Could anyone post some screenies for me to druel over for now???

It said that the file was corrupted for me and wouldn't even run >.<
Small rant #2:
For something that was promised for mid december, I'm surprised to see so many "incomplete" sections in station interface. Some perhaps relate to server-supplied data that's not there yet but it feels odd and seem to imply that perhaps "beta" might be a miss-nomer. One beta-tests a package when functionality is complete. This probably should qualify as an alpha release.
*sigh*
/me turns mgl_mouser around three times and points him in the direction of the news post:
"because this is still a bit of a Raw test, please limit your feedback to obvious bugs, crashes, errors and other major issues. There are still a lot of missing standard features (/commands and the like).. we know they're missing."
also read the part about this being an OPTIONAL download and the part that says USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. The public version isn't coming for another three weeks or so.
I get the same energy bar render problem, also the damage model appears as a solid giant block (don't know if that's intentional or not):
Using:
Mac OS 10.4.3
Powerbook G4 (1.5 gHz)
GeForce FX Go5200

Person: we didn't get a chance to test it on our 10.2.8 machine (the G3). We'll do that with the next test.
Everyone else, please keep this thread strictly related to bug reports. Any questions or editorial type stuff can go in the Release Notes thread I just started:

Phaserlight, what ship were you flying at the time of the big yellow box?
raybondo: look at the weapons box. Its a warthog.
warthog mkIII
and I found another bug: whenever I dock I get returned to the login screen.
edit: ah, nevermind, that was just me dashing into the dock at 200 m/s and tapping "enter" repeatedly. >.<

The default settings make the GUI extremly slow on a 1GHz Powerbook. Reducing the skybox/background setting to medium increases FPS from 3-4 to 25ish. You might want to start off with the lower setting. It took me almost 10 minutes to change it (redraw is very slow an jerky, moving the pointer takes forever).
running the vendettatest exe and this is the error I get. I'll provbably be doing something wrong, but its to late to think what it is... so if somebody has a clue, i'll check it out in th emorning :D

andreas: yes, we need to reappraise all the auto-configured memory settings. the existing "64MB" settings now suck up 68MB on launch, which causes texture thrashing and makes everything like 2 FPS.
BUG: Some 3D targeting rendering errors on the Mac client. OpenGL problems?

Testing it out and i noticed when i get near stations my controls seem to "stick" sometimes and also i cant seem to see the vult or hog very well, they appear white.
I was just killed in B8 and when I clicked on "Buy last ship" it seemed to have gotten stuck so I clicked cancel on the "Purchasing..." window and it gave this error message:
Error! trying to remove object(2:1919)

My ship was a Centaur II with flechette II, 2 jacks and a FC, black.
Hmmm... this is getting really odd now.. it won't let me select a ship, there's nothing in the buy windows (the ship buy back window only shows a spinning bus), the only thing in the sell window is at the upper left corner of my screen but not where it should be. What shows up there is an entry for a loaded Centaur II. My equipment and cargo I have stored there (Sedina L2) show up fine. However, on the select ship screen, I cannot select any of the ships, and each name of the ship seems to correspond to the one above it with the top one showing a black centaur (probably the one I was killed in) and no entry that shows the last one's name.
Edit: I just left the station in the same ship that I must've bought at the Buy Back screen, but the little bar about the Centaur II was stuck in the upper left corner of my screen and was even there on the logon screen - even though I only saw it in the sell tab in the station menu. "Error! trying to remove object(7:206)" was also added to my errors.log sometime during/after leaving the station.

Two bugs so far:
1) chat doesn't seem to go into errors.log.
2) Running in windowed mode and doing anything that consumes processor time causes static in the audio.
Linux, 2.6.10
Here's some relavent info from errors.log:
Found driver: "Open Sound System driver". Type 1, Version 8.1. Load @0x082e7708
Instantiate address: 0x14a280
Found driver: "OpenGL Reference GKGL driver". Type 5, Version 31.0. Load @0x082e79b0
Instantiate address: 0x527620
Found driver: "ALSA driver". Type 1, Version 8.1. Load @0x082e8808
<snip>
ALSA initialized: 44100Hz, 16bit stereo, 92ms latency (16 periods x 256 samples)
[Edit]: The sound problem has to do with ALSA. I switched to OSS (which is what I use with the old client) and the problem is fixed. I know there's a thread on getting ALSA to work right... Maybe I'll look into it... Anyway, ignore bug #2 above.

I had quit the game in a sector (not docked in a station). When I came back, sector loading gave me this:
Game was borked at that point so I quit (same crash as I send via bug report) and then loging in again worked.

BUGS:
IN-STATION:
In the Ship --> Weapon Ammo menu, the Replenish ammo button is broken (known.)
In the Ship tab --> Purchase Preset Ship (s) buttons: If you have a ship that is not available in the station set as a preset, and you attempt to purchase that ship, the "Purchasing" menu shows up with the external view of the station, and the game hangs/breaks. I had to CMD-Q quit to get out of it. (Did not have to force quit)
In the StationNet --> NavMap tab, shift-clicking does not work to add waypoints. If you zoom to the universe and then close and reopen the Nav Map, your view is still centered on your destination instead of your location. (Although the /navroute add command still works)
In the StationNet --> NavMap tab, the "Station" (BAR) chat button disappears... (even if you had it selected once you clicked into the NavMap)
In the Setup area for controls, the game does not appear to handle my (non-analog) hat switch properly. I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo, the hat switch is non-analog (off or on), and an iMac G5 rev 1. I am running OS X 10.3.9. PLUS it allows me to assign multiple actions to the same joystick button. (Like turbo, secondary, and select previous all on one joystick button) This is the same Joy0??? error that others have, I'm sure.
I get Lua errors when I assign more than one command to the stick's buttons in the keyboard menu. But I can click apply, click "Close" on the Lua error, and open up the stick controls, and the settings seem to be correct, the last setting I clicked "took".
In fact, when I assign ANY command to the hat switches to the joystick and then click "apply", VO crashes.
OUT-OF-STATION:
You no longer get messages in your chat window for "FA on/FA off/ etc etc"
It seems like you have more battery juice after jumping now. Is this supposed to happen? Several jumps as I came thru I had 100% of my battery life when I emerged.

Mine is crashing at this point as well and I have a Mac. Do you want to have the entire error log or just the specs?
