PA named 6 active and several in the last....weeks? LOL
Rin didn't even mention YT-1300, Bikiko, Gunnar MG, Deathzor, etc who have been on in the last few days, not weeks.
Not all FAMY members are pirates, so we also have a fair amount of unseen members. You just see the ones who like to be sociable.
Sorry, but whether you like it or not, FAMY is one of the most active guilds in VO, and growing.....despite not having any sort of recruitment drive.

It's growing, but don't BS about recruitment. I see a FAMY ad at least once every time I log on from someone.
Wow, I think the reason you are so defensive is because you know that I am right. I could create an alt to join FAMY just to see for myself, but I am above such menial tasks. I left out some names too and it is more likely that those names you listed are just alts of some of the members that we already discussed.
Sorry, but no. I intentionally left out alts.
Yeah well PA isnt going around trying to convince people that other guilds are dead....
Updated guild list, removed PoP, which makes the Viper Guild the only guild with a primary objective of pirate suppression. Also added the new Guild RED a new serco ultra nationalist guild.
And PA is dead :)
grr didn't even realise it no I'm not a alt ( not sure what proof you want that I'm not ). ??
Wait, the what guild? Viper?
They've been dead and inactive for years.

Actually, they've been active again this last month or two.
Newbie here, what is this talk of bots in guilds all about?
Player accounts logged in and left in a station or spaced out in a sector (mostly in stations these days) running some form of event logging/posting script. Let's the user know who's passed through, when, in what ship, and may alert others by automatically alerting to the guild channel. Can also accept credits for safe passage, and add the payer's name to a "safe" list for pirate guilds.
Less handy than before certain tweaks were implemented to sensor range, but still useful tools.

As an active member of the Viper Guild, I assure you it's alive and well. The guild does not actively recruit, as rats do a good enough job sending players our way.
New pilots soon learn there are alternatives to becoming a rat or their prey, by appling here; http://www.viperguild.com
Dont forget to monitor channel 4357 for pirate location reports.

@Redscar so far you have not had a big impact on my sales ;) but keep on trying sir.

"Rats" do a great job of sending morally superior nublets your way with the promise that they will get to play judge, jury and executioner. They end up playing cannon-fodder instead.
VPR are vigilantes sir, you derive your authority from force and violence and answer to nobody. You declare anybody you dislike as a group to be pirates in order to rationalise hunting them down.

It's interesting that you jump so quickly to Pirates defence.

Ahem. La Familia guild purpose is "Organised Crime" or "Mafia" not "Pirate". Why does nobody seem to get that,
You having a change of heart now it's under new management?
:)

Ahem, actually having morals is not morally superior, unless in comparison to someone lacking morals.
VPR provides combat training to all members, but when they are engaged with two or more pirates, death is still likely. Fortunately in the world of VO even a dead Viper can still redirect traders if a sector is hot.

TRS, in actual fact the Viper Guild conducts quite a rigorous multi-strike process before declaring a guild KOS.
With regard to vigilantism, I believe you have a valid point. However this is true of national guilds as much as it is of the Viper Guild. With no real game mechanism on a national scale to assign authority, guilds can only self declare their intentions. Which is part of the reason I started this thread, so guild objectives/roles were know.
Although after consideration VPR may be the only guild in a position to make their self declared role at least in-part officially sanctioned. So at the next guild meeting I shall propose that all VPR combat pilots obtain bounty Hunter status. This will mean that any pirate that is killed with a bounty on his head will lose 1% from all licenses.

Last I checked, [VPR] engaged with even one (real) pirate generally wind up dying. And any pirate not selling his bounty to a fellow rat is doing it wrong.
Other than that, no concerns.

You misunderstand me, I am not defending pirates, I am criticising the Vipers.

I have already told Strat how the Vipers can cease to remain a vigilante guild. They must surrender jurisdiction to declare guilds or individuals pirates and establish a register. A council must be formed with a representative from every guild in VO each having one vote. When allegations of a breach of your multi-strike rule is lodged, the council votes on the evidence whether or not that person is to be deemed a pirate. If the vote is successful by majority then the resolution is passed and the vipers now have jurisdiction to hunt this individual. You must also have a similar procedure for removal from the register by vote.
Your multi-strike policies are meaningless as processes gain legitimacy from transparency and fairness. Unless they are made public and the process is clear you will continue to remain corrupt vigilantes in every sense.
Take a lesson from ONE, if you don't start playing your role properly, you might get the anti-pirate equivalent of RED knocking on your doorstep to swoop up your membership.

Every guild, eh? So I could make a dozen alt guilds and have them all vote that TGFT are pirates and CHRN are not? Yep, that's totally safe from corruption :)
Not sure about the overall voting discussed here or not...
For instance, I had an experience where I was 'pinned down' in a station by a pirate and asked for VPR help and got it.
Now...
My only 'proof' of him being a pirate was that he was demanding a 100k day pass. Now, I can't remember who it was, but let's just say for arguments sake that he wasn't a 'registered' pilot of a known pirate guild.
He is still demanding money in exchange for safe passage and not destroying my ship and taking my cargo (ie. piracy).
So, in my circumstance, if I requested help, but was told by VPR, "no, sorry we can't help because that guild isn't a registered pirate guild. We thank you for your information, and will be sure to submit it during our next weekly meeting. In the meantime, you are just going to have to pay or die.". I really don't like that.
For one, I thought it was VERY cool to request help, and receive it. Secondly, doesn't this make things much more interesting and immersive for all parties involved:
Trader/Miner: Feel a little more supported and protected so that I can focus more on the aspects of the game they like. They still have risks in their 'job' from pirates, but at least they have another option.
VPR/Vigilante (yes, the would still be a vigilante, but is that bad in the current gameworld??): I helped another player and had a fun PvP encounter. Even if losing, there is a good chance the trader is able to excape.
Pirate: Isn't it more interesting/tense to be sitting waiting for your prey not knowing if at any minute you might be engaged in an actual proper PvP against another fighter and not just blasting a bus.
Again, .02 from a relative newbie.
Cheers!
