Someone should give you a friend key for a longer trial. :)
Better, invest US$10 and subscribe a month...
But if you are short on money, send you email, or meet me in game around 22:00 GMT. I I am not online, just ask on /100 that I am quite sure that someone will provide you a Friend Key, +14 days.

Someone should pay this guy for a year so he keeps doing stuff the devs need to (I know you're busy and all but...).
I like the control tower, balances mass. I was going to suggest putting a quad of large port weapons or something in front of the dock for balance, but a communications/command ship is probably better.

Aren't you worried about me disappearing again? XD
( yes, I'm making fun of my disappearing act too, even though I've already explained my reasons for it.)
I designed this on paper to have around 4-6 capship turrets, but that was when this was a frontliner. With the logistics specialization, though, I think a max of 3 turrets should be good.

I've got some spare friend keys. Hit me up on #vendetta or #vrelay.

I'd like to thank you guys for the friend key offers, but right now, I don't have the ability to play VO at the moment. I probably will in a couple days though.
What are #vendetta and #vrelay? Twitter things?
Ah, thanks.
Alright, since I figured that a capship texture is gonna be different from a fighter's (no, I'm not making any tiling textures), I figured I could safely start texturing the Lucifer while for materials to do my fighters. The uving is going apace:

The grey cylinders represent turrets: one under the chin and one at each side of the rear. Not the best for frontline combat, but probably enough to defend itself.

Personally, were I the owner of one of them and only had three turrets to work with, I'd place one on top and one on the bottom (both more or less in the middle of the ship), and the third facing either forward or backward. Why? Because of the shape of the ship. It is in the most danger from attackers who are above or below, as it offers a very large target in those directions. So those are the two directions I'd be most likely to give additional defensive measures.
On the other hand, depending on the manoeuvrability, having them on the narrow sides as you placed them gives more offensive power. In a fight, you'd want to keep the ship oriented so that your narrow sides face the enemy, so placing turrets on those sides would allow you to attack while in that position. But this only works if you are nimble enough to keep the narrow sides facing the enemy.
So it comes down to a tradeoff between whether you want the turrets for defense or offense. My guess would be defense if this is a logistical support ship.

Get a ship in delivery state and you get your long-term subscription... I pay at least 3 months, and I'm quite sure many others complete it. (Delivery is attend all those assets and quality level as request per Incarnate.)
But I really don't like the sideways entrance... harder to dock, and wastes precious cargo space on a military logistic ship, also is cutting the "engines".
Suggestion: Consider all that hull destinated to engines and cargo bay. So add the docks, hangar and command deck above it, in a superstructure added above the hull.
More like a modern cargo ship. Also, a back-facing docking bay is much easier to use, and is already default in game. Note that most modern ships with heliports have it in the back, as planes allways land in direction that carrier is heading at full speed...
About its size and role, I imagined making it as big as a Trident, or slightly larger, where primary objective would be support military stations and units near hostile territory, supplying personnel, fighters, ammo, food, water, (fuel,) etc. to frontline's capships.
Something as a Wave class tanker: (note hangar open)
Imagine a Trident on right being ressuplied by a Lucifer on the left... (it deserves a less aggressive name...)

Not everything need be based upon modern techniques.
A side dock would help if the turrets are placed on the top/bottom. If the dock was on the top or bottom, they may friendly fire any ship docking/undocking in a combat situation, which happens with tridents quite often, and can happen with HAC's and Connies as well due to the position of their turrets.

All good suggestions. I think part of the problem with it is that it started as a frontliner and evolved into a logistics role. I'll probably have to redesign it, then start over from scratch (oi......)
I agree about the name change. It was a working name anyway.
Alrighty, requirements for redesign:
Larger size (200-250 meters?)
Dedicated Logistics Hull (Cargo, engines, plus possible superstructure?)
Lemme draw up some concepts. Mabye I can give this thing a conning tower/island.

make a new thead. Honos/Nerio is a small ship... maybe in Community Projects?
Yeah. Tommorow though.
The Heavy Assault Cruiser is a Serco design too, and it's rather pointy.
I still maintain that getting in and playing the game a bit might help you out a lot. That offer for the friend key still stands. :)

I have a sneaking suspicion that I might be getting a new computer this weekend, so I might take you up on that.
Expect a new thread about the Lucifer from me soon.

This is a long thread, and i didn't read most if it :P BUT i like what you are producing. If it is to become a support vessel then I would stick to it becoming a serco ship ( i think thats been mentioned). It would be neat to see this replace the Constellation class on the serco front line. Awesome work, and as ARF says, get in game, and spend some time in Deneb. You'll have plenty of opportunities to check out the cappies there.
I also like the other models you are making. I would love to see nation specific 'versions' of ships. Relatively the same stats build but clearly from one nation, buyable only in that nation. Your transport would be a great serco 'moth' (as you stated).
Anyway! Keep up the good work! I am sure a lot of us are eagerly awaiting more.

I'm on my new computer now! WOOT!!!! It'll take me a little while to move files, but I should be up and running in a few days.
