UVW Unwrap tool anyone? UV mapping isn't actually that tough...
Thanks for the recommend on Infinity, looks like a great game with Developers who aren't out to ruin it!

Embassador, if you don't mind i'd love to have a crack at texturing that thing when you're done with th UV mapping.
I have no experience with texturing 3d surfaces but i'd love to give it a shot, I've messed plenty making 2d sprites and other various graphix.

tumble, I know you're trolling and all, but please, don't be an idiot. Infinity is, as it has been for over six years now, a vaporware graphics tech demo. It has been, and always will be, a collection of "pre-alpha" videos that daringly show some dude flying from a station to the surface of an ugly planet and then back again.
I will be surprised when any of these videos actually show any multi-player element. I will be downright shocked if there will ever be a public release of anything playable. (No, a "game" that "does not represent what you will find in Infinity" doesn't cut it. Though I am pretty surprised they made it that far.)
As best as I can tell, the entire plan for the infinity devs consists of
1) Trawl the VO's suggestion forums for stupid ideas that sound flashy
2) Stick them into Infinity's feature list
2) ???
3) God, I hope they're not actually getting enough donations to profit from this idiocy.
PS: What sort of idiot looks at the lineup of available technology and thinks to himself "Why yes, I think I will lock myself into directx! It's not like there are any cross-platform alternatives!"

Genka, you've lost much of my respect for you, such as I had. He stated an opinion. You are the one trolling on this matter. You don't think Infinity is going to ever see daylight. Good for you. He does. Mr. Brebion has recently formed a company around Infinity and its engine; that is FAR from vapourware. He has refused all offers and donations, he has, until earlier this year, worked on Infinity and its engine as a side project. You are allowed to state you opinion, as is tumble, but you may not do so in a calous manner on my thread.

Though you seem a bit confused about your role here, it's cute you're trying to nanny the VO forums. But shouldn't you be focused on churning out your super amazing new ship?
P.S. Infinity's even more of a fucking joke than VO, and always has been.

From you, trolling is expected, and somewhat amusing. Please, continue, you have my permission to continue entertaining me.
A few things to consider about Infinity (off-topic, I know)
- The developers put the game on hold to work exclusively on the engine
- It's doubtful the game will be finished any time soon, although there are now more developers than before! :p
- The engine has successfully been ported to OS X, so they aren't completely relying on DirectX now.
- They have a very active Twitter at http://twitter.com/#!/inovae_keith

Oh that silly cobra and her crazy shenanigans!
They may be Vaporware, who knows. I only found out about them yesterday. Either way, they represent an ideal for a game that VO, sadly, never will. Yes, VO is an actual playable game. So is Robot Unicorn Attack, but it's popular and has a great soundtrack and, while simple, has never made promises it can't keep or in any way disappointed it's fans. VO is promise followed by excuse, rinse and repeat. Maybe if Inc added some Erasure to the soundtrack fewer people would notice...
Infinity seems cool. I wish them success and hope to pirate in their game some day.

Just lettin' you guys know I'm still workin' on it. I've figured out a method that has GREATLY sped up and inmproved the the mapping. I don't know if it would work for Itani ships, but it works for sure on Serco, which what I'm gonna be doin' for a little while.

As you can see, there is little to no distortion in the many of UV islands.

I hope to god that you make something usable, because a new ship would make me enjoy my subscription more. ;] Looks like a 3L port ship. But then could a ship heavier than a Centaur really be flyable? Good luck man.
For me is seems more like a Super-Prometheus... almost the size of a trident. Probably trusting more in turrets that pilot's weapons.
By the way, Terran, how will it be armed? I'd suggest 3 Lports and 3 Turrets...
And its maneuvrability should be worst that a Moth, similar to a Trident.
Maybe this will be the next player-owned capship...

I want to believe...
Alas, looks like another one who bailed out :(

It's not dead. I'm waiting for metal picures to be able to texture, plus I've been shaving off tris and simplifying the mesh, redoing the UV, etc. Plus I'm working on another fighter and I've been trying to figure out a capship. I haven't posted because there didn't seem to be much to post. I'll post what I have of those if you want.
Again, I'm sorry about the lack of updates.

Plus, I seriously thought you guys had lost interest.
+1 to original post

About a third the size of the Trident actually: 42 meters for the Nerio compared to the Trident's 150 or so.
That armament sounds good, I'll suggest that once I'm done.
42 meters really only makes it a large fighter, but I'll accept your recomendation about the maneuverability.

Here ya go, the new simplified mesh:

1822 tris, well under the upper limit for a fighter.
Thought I would upload pics of this little guy too:

12 meters, 780 tris. Small Serco transport. 3 small, 1 large?

I really dig this style there's a simplicity about it (duh its an early model) that I miss from earlier days before we had tessellation, DX11... ect.
While i'm at it, There are some games that are well suited for very fancy graphics and IMHO vo isn't exactly one of them, alot of titles have an awesome purpose driven simplicity that makes recognizing different objects from the background easy. Vendetta could sure use some fancy textures specially for the backgrounds and a few revamped models (Atlas, Hornet, HAC) stuff but as a whole I would really hate for the graphics to take on a too realistic look.
Though with the current resources GS runs on this won't happen for awhile.
Just my 2c
PS: Keep up the awesome work TerranAmbassador.
