Adding another zero will make this VERY tough for new players. Don't forget that not everyone has drilled the game for every credit yet.

The prices are a great step in the right direction it seems to me. I have no problem with it. I have to agree with smittens about adding another 0 when it comes to newer players, and not to mention, those that just don't trade and/or mine alot.

I keep getting a bajillion complaints about how escort missions pay out way too much money, and hive hunt pays out way too much money, and so on. One would think that, by the time newbies are able to *use* any of the more expensive ships (which all have fairly stiff requirements anyway), they will also have various options for increasing their wealth.

VO is every greedy capitalist government dream. :P
Nation military pilots have to buy ships and weapons if they want to fight for their nation against its enemies.

Now this sounds very funny...

"...ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country."

And government reply:
*Give us all your money and go die for your country so we can milk some more cash from you in the future."

Now, on the constructive side... how about some military service missions where you get a ship and equipment from your government for free and you even get payed for destroying enemy ships?

Yea, we have BP and BS but with this new prices if you die a few times during BP or BS you actually lose money so it would be more lucrative to just not do those mission ever.

In the meantime you could consider changing VO to "Space trading & mining Online".
A game where you will never get shot because it just costs too much.:)

This might make repairmen more useful... I like this change, but also agree with the extra '0' missing.

BS will eventually hand out ships for free, as it becomes a proper military track mission system. Other changes to other missions also possible (payout / structure changes, etc). Re-pricing ships is one aspect of a greater economic redux, not the entirety. Plus, it is not necessary to fly the bestest, most expensive ship config, just to participate in BS. It's not quite like dueling.

We've had a properly balanced economy before, in alpha. It wasn't bad. People would PvP and CTF, and then do trade runs during the downtime when there was less going on. At least money wasn't a total joke. But, I covered most of that back in '05, in the thread linked from the beginning post.

I agree with diqrtvpe; the SVG is pretty expensive compared to the IDF Valk (which is, in my opinion, the direct competitor, not the X-1).

Other than that: I really like the new ship prices! Could this new pricing scale also be used on euqipment? I'd imagine that e.g. Axia would like to shave more off AAP sales, being the sole manufacturer and all that...

Extra "0" requests from some players are also very interesting.

However, there is a question of online time someone can spend playing VO.
Some players can afford to spend 10 hours a day trading and mining and do that for months.
Some just cant play for more then 1 or 2 hours a day or play only weekends.
So in order to buy good combat ships they would have to waste their precious online time by trading and mining for a few months to be able to have one fun PVP weekend. And by the time they get the money they need they will be so bored with VO they will quit.

Sure, add another "0".

Edit:
In light of this new ship prices, how about increasing ctc reward to 100k per cu?
With 2-2,5k per cu ctcers can now maybe buy a doorknob for their ship.

Huh, I never saw Scuba Steve's edit. Anyway, not planning to add another zero at this time. I think this ballpark is reasonable, and other changes are being made to the overall economic landscape.

Like I said to Slime back on the first page, if people would like to make suggestions about new PvP/PvE ways of earning money through combative gameplay, I encourage them to make a new thread on Suggestions and link to it here. I would rather just talk about the new prices here, specifically.

Seems a good move towards a better balanced economy, lets see how it works out .

lmao! Do you have any idea how many credits I could have made if I had just waited a week to clean out the stations I was over the limit with?

Sweet, this is already looking pretty good.

..but as some already pointed out, the X-1 Valk should be more expensive than the SVG.
Also I would like a price increase for the Centaur MK3, because it's a really powerful PvP ship (and all those traders are using it and i hate them :P)

edit: next step: double those prices again!

Yes, valks should match up with proms, and the SVG/IBG ought to be the low-cost option like the F-16s are to the F-15. Please, SOONER than later, affect a drop in the price of the ibg and svg to make sure that the minor fighters are priced where they should be.

The fact that there are 7 models of vulture really unbalanced the process against the super-ships. The X1, being only experimental, ought to be the most expensive ship in the game, don't you think?

Why is the TD so expensive? It's still not as good as (arguably equal to) the hog Mk III. If it's not going to be a real step up from the standard variants, it should probably at least be cheap and expendable.

I've been waiting for this for a very, very long time. I'm not going to try and predict all the consequences, but I know that it has already given me a whole new sense of purpose in the game. A great addition!

I think the mineral hog should be cheap, akin to the mk2 hog perhaps. It is only really useful for the low level miner. It definitely should not exceed the price of legitimate combat models. I'd swap the hogME in at the mk2 price and shift the others down.

RevC/IBG/SVG/Vulturius/XT - these ships cost a bit much compared to heavy ships that they used to be far cheaper than. I suggest that the base cost for a prom and valk be increased by 10k, and their top end models scaled accordingly.

Can you really charge people more for an axia wraith than a prom mk3 with a straight face?

We really, really need to fix the TD now, to make it worth the price. Give it 240 thrust and we're golden (mk4 has 235).

Like you said, these prices are just a start. I'm doing my part to help you fix them up.

Eh, my hog mk2 is still dirt cheap, no whining on this topic, at least ;)

Great job, Incarnate. I have always been one of the loudest supporters of this change. I like that the SCP is more expensive than the valk and all the other combat ships. It's by far the most unbalanced ship for a 1 on 1 fight and therefore the new price tag is exactly right in my opinion.

I agree with a lot of the responses here that there should be new monetary rewards for PvP and I will post in the appropriate suggestion threads (or start my own). However, there should also be much greater license XP rewards for PvP as well. I PvP as much or more than anyone else in the game. I also have one of the highest "player kill" counts of anyone in the game (and 99% of my player kills are of high level characters in combat ships). However, my combat license level does not increase on its own. The only time it increases, is when I help out new players with hive skirmish. A few hours of mindless botting is worth more XP than MONTHS of high level PvP combat? That should be fixed, especially with the new ship prices.

The Rev C just lost some of its sexiness.
No factor, we'll see how it goes along the way. Now EMS will be really popular
