almost 2k, more like 1.5k if I remember correctly
Any chance you will make a desent pirate ship off the Corvus maud?
as it is to day, the batt drain is to high to use it as a succesful pirating ship.
batt drain should be 55, and topspeed 230 i think.

Aye, Norseman is right.
and, sounds like some awesome things to come.

Haveing just a small chance that an item gets dropped might solve the problem. Additionally the chance could become lower with the complexity(level reqs/rareness) of the item. The amount of items could lower the chance per item too.
So that it's likely that you drop two plasma cannons if you have three on your valk. But very unlikely even one flare out of three.
and ... more armor more armor!

I bite my thumb at UPN :p
Or he might just ignore the NPCs and still kill me....
Oh damn.

I like the idea of being able to Salvage equipment after someone else goes boom. Also, the problem of being able to pick up weapons that are way above your levels can be solved simply that if you can't buy it, you can't salvage it.
On the other hand. If a lower leveled player can make a higher leveled player go boom, then they might deserve the salvaged goodies. (I'll probably read a post about alts being able to not level and have access to the better goodies.)
I do look forward to being able transport equipment an hopefully small ships from on place to another in my moth.

Easiest way to handle salvaging weapons/equipment that is too high for you is that you simply can not equip them till you are licensed to do so. You then could either hold onto them til you CAN use them or simply stock and sell at your leisure.
Yep, John's idea is the best. Because it's simple. You can pick it up, take it back to the station, and either wait to use it until you are high enough levels, or just sell it to someone who CAN use it.
leebs is just trying to prevent himself from becoming a target for his uber-UC =P
if you can't use it due to you being too low a level, it should sell for 1X each level higher you need for it (too make up for the notbeing able to use it)
example : level 1 noob kills a level 9 guy in a bus war, the level 9 guy drops a flare launcher, the level 1 guy sells it and it selfs from him for 9x more the it usualy would.
sure, that's a bit too much for now, but, you get the idea.

Except that the only people that could use said item would probably rather buy a shiny new one with the warranty still intact for 1/9th the price ;)

I think that's a terrrible idea.
First off, its pretty much a non issue IMO. If person "a" is actually a level 1/1/0/0 newb, and they manage to take out a higher level person who happens to have a SunFlare launcher, then good for them! But I would guarantee that they're not gonna hold onto that launcher for very long. First off they won't know how to use it properly.
Secondly, if said 1/1/0/0 noob is in fact an alt and knows howw to use them, then they'll be equiping them on ships not designed to use them, and agin, will most likely not hold onto them for very long.
IMO if you make it so people are unable to equip stuff they salvage, then you take away the one thing that makes this concept intriguing. Otherwise what good is it? I shoot down someone who has aap's in B8 and that means what? I don't have to go back to Latos for my stockpile?

I agree with Gavan.
Erm, It was an idea so if a noob killed a better player he'd get a reward, even if he couldn't equip the item yet the _station_ would pay a better price for it since he was a low level char.
get it?
and it it's terrible, well, I just pulled it out of my ass, so, meh.
'sides, since it was my idea to begin with, so it was already damn terrible.

Sorry Zam, I wasn't referring to your idea specifically... more to those who were saying you shouldn't be able to equip items that you don't have the levels for.
Ahhh. 'k
'tis easing to the mind.
'tis easing to the mind.
How dare you disagree with me, Gavan! I think that it gives you an incentive to level up. If you can't use it, then perhaps you'll sell it for lotsa money, like in 'hole's idea.
If just anyone can use the dropped item, then this becomes an exploit to provide lotsa uber-weapons to those who can perhaps only put them on a Cent.
Like Gavan said, it's won't HELP the true n00b, it will only assist those with low-level alts who are too lazy to level them up to get the weaps legitimately. Since I'm generally opposed to having 6 identities per paid account, I say: Meh. Enforce level licenses.

Yeah, but given the fact that there won't be a guarantee that any weapons drop then it would be a pain in the ass. Plus, are you saying that some high level player is gonna patiently follow a low level buddy (be it a newb or otherwise) around and explode every time they (the alt) needs another weapon?
If they want to go through that much trouble then all the power to them.
I mean, how do twelve year olds in your country get Assault Rifles? From their older, more "leveled up" buddies of course!

/me wonders why Gavan had to bring children and assault rifles in to this
