No wonder you're opposed to a suggestion which will give assholes less power.
No wonder you are opposed to a better suggestion that will give assholes less power because you are too overcome with your own self-importance.
You mistake my accusation of your bias in posting this suggestion as the only argument I've given against this suggestion. It's not. And my position against making /vote mute less harsh goes back much further in time than this whole stupid SKV/TGFT bullshit began.
Here are my arguments against this suggestion:
1. This post has a biased origination and serves a purpose intentionally not mentioned by the author.
2. Altering /vote mute to be less punitive is a threat to its effectiveness.
3. There is no evidence of abuse outside of the single SKV/TGFT squabble, therefore it is a very minor and rare issue that doesn't warrant development time.
And Rhine, you are annoying. -1 to YOU!

Wrong. Prove it.
Either way, irrespective of the origination of this, it's a good suggestion with a sound basis and reasoning.
2. Altering /vote mute to be less punitive is a threat to its effectiveness.
It's not less punitive, it's more concentrated on the areas affected by the people who we /vote mute. For the 400th time, GUILD chat issues are GUILD issues, not the entire player-base to shut down guild chat whenever they want. It's not good enough to give someone the power to stop another from communicating in guild and groups because of a public chat issue.
3. There is no evidence of abuse outside of the single SKV/TGFT squabble, therefore it is a very minor and rare issue that doesn't warrant development time.
The whole TGFT/SKV squabble is a perfect example of why this is needed. You cannot dismiss it. Whether you like it or not, development time has been wasted already, and this kind of thing will continue so long as guilds and players think that it's the developers' intention to let them use this mechanic to shut down communications.

The developers have already reacted to the situation and limited /vote mute to exactly one mute per person. It is no longer recommended to use multiple accounts to /vote mute as that will cause consequences. This change was implemented to address this problem.
If 10 people decide you should shut up, then maybe you... should shut up. Demanding changes to a system that was recently changed for the better doesn't seem convincing when two days ago you raged around, demanding excuses for a valid mute.
Of course you have some good arguments. But I have to agree with Faille, Greenwall and the other contras. The /vote mute command has a punitive character. I could agree with allowing private chat with people you have buddied but no further than that. Additionally, the /mute time is 2 hours. Not talking anywheree for 2 hours is perfectly fine.
Lastly there is few "abuse". I can remember very few examples in the past years. We'd actually be hurting the game more by drawing away worthful devloping time from the devs is we whined so loud to demand more changes to /vote mute...
-1 to the OP. If the devs feel inclined to do something, then just allow PM chat with people you have buddied. No more than that.

If someone had told me 2 years ago that EP and Greenwall would write a 6 page forum thread argument against each other over a trivial suggestion I wouldn't have believed them at all.
It just goes to show, if you want to win VO simply leave and your enemies will just turn on each other.

Bad TRS! Look at what you've done! Bad Bad TRS!
Vladimir/RoboticMechanicalJeb/Rhine: If you cannot contribute to the discussion in a serious and useful manner, please do not post here at all. Your idiotic juvenile commentary is not needed and not to the benefit of the game. You barely play the game or even pay to play it., All you do is come here to post non-funny remarks.
This is why we need to atleast require a full sub to post on suggestions/bugs.

@Sieger
Wtf is wrong with you? I just started playing again, and you accuse someone else of being me?
@Rhine
I am so sorry about this (some people like to assume stuff)

Although I wasn't in a guild when I was muted, I really think this would help noobs (who are in a guild) understand what happened and what they did.
the members who are in the guild can tell the player what they did and give them advice on what and what not to do on 100.
Ex.
Player A: *gets muted*
Player A (guild): what happened? Why can't I chat on channel 100?
Player B (guild): you were muted.
Player A (guild): why? I did nothing wrong
Player B (guild): look at your recent chat
Player A: *scrolls through 100 seeing the he/she is spamming*
Player A: *realizes what he/she did*
Player A (guild): ok now I understand
Player B (guild): ok good, here's what you should do when the mute wears off:
Player B (guild): *gives player A tips when the mute wears off*
*2 hours later*
Player A: *does the tips Player B gives*

One: I have not once insulted you (as opposed to RMJs insulting manner)
Two: I don't bash people (Opposed to RMJs behaviour)
Three: Although some of my posts aren't humorous to others, they are to me.
Four: I don't make moronic posts
Five: Even though I didn't chat while I was progressing in the game, It doesn't mean I didn't exist.
So please, know who you're talking to before going off topic and replying something not related to the mentioned topic.
P.S: Please do not bring up old suggestions that have not received any replies in the past months.

seeing no benefit in nerfing the /vote mute like that. it'll lose all his scariness when the player is still able to talk with his guildmates. annoying 10 players - which is still a high number of votes considering the small playerbase - gotta have its price.

I do not pretend to know who you are, nor am I making assumptions about your humour or lack of, but please keep posts to the English language, especially in Bug and Suggestion forums.
The game is in English only (for now at least), the forum is in English and the developers and current guides all have English as a primary language. So yeah, keep it English please?
@ Sieger
There is no IP limiting function on /vote mute, there is simply a "universal" warning not to use more than 1 account to mute. The devs can simply look at logs and see who voted for what and when (taking time away from development), also when I was muted I'm sure there was more than one person involved - and like I stated - I was not even talking on 100 or on any public channel at the time. SO did I deserve the mute? No, well not that specific time anyway. IT WAS ABUSE. Just because a guild of 10 people decided I should be muted does not make it right.

I am aware that there is no IP function that could block multiple votes from the same person. Yet it is just as good as that. If a muted person feels they have been muted due to an abuse; they can complain. This takes away development time, yes. So whoever gets muted should think twice if it really was an abuse before they cry out and make a dev ticket...
You got muted, too? I don't know anything about that, so can't comment on the case. But I thinkt it may not even be needed to dicuss single cases now, no matter if there was abuse or not. I presented my opinion regarding this suggestion. Feel free to disagree.

Is this issue really worth 6 pages of bickering? If we're not going to lock this thread, then at least move it to Role Play.
