@JHX
You are a new player so i can understand your confusion with what transpires here and in game.
Exposing TGFT Utils plugin for what it really is was not a part of SKV war vs TGFT, it was a matter of public service.
Exposing TGFT leadership as completely unethical and immoral was an added bonus.
Real VO war is happening in-game .
As a member of a neutral trade guild how would you characterize SKV behavior in relation to you and your guild? Do you have any insight about balance of strength and what is happening in this war in game?
@ClarenceC
Don't know why your forum nick reminds me of Hannibal Lecter but every time I read it...
"Clarisseee...ccccccc" comes to mind.
Anyway, putting disclaimer on that TGFT Utils scam has no impact on the SKV announcement this thread is about. Disclaimer did not change what that plug-in does, unethical data mining functionality is still the same as it was.
All players using TGFT Utils will be treated as TGFT alts or spies and eliminated.
To quote ARF:
"As for Bojan's announcement: I'd do the same thing if I were in his shoes. "Neutral" players providing intelligence for your enemy in a war means they're not neutral, they're enemy combatants."

Would Homeland Security let you run the ISIS app on your phone so you could watch porn on it even if you don't care that it also sends your contacts data back to Syria?
haha see what i mean? he just always has to have the last word or he doesn't feel comfortable.
Lol, says the guy who had to post after him
I still really don't get why using tgft_util. is considered a bad thing to do

it's not that hard to understand.

RoboticMechanicalJeb, people don't like it when other people spy on them. By using TGFT_Utilities, you would be helping TGFT to spy on everybody you encounter, because the plugin sends them information about every person you encounter. Please explain which parts of this you don't understand, and I will try to make it clearer.
You can't really be that naive and march around asking "why the hell is using tgft utils sooo wrong?"
Number one: it's bad for your privacy and security. Keep in mind that TGFT utils is a fucking double edged sword. SKV and pirates can use it against users to track them. Fact: everyone has at least one TGFT alt. Most people are good about hiding their alts. Just pretend that you suck at combat, don't do anything but trade/build, and refrain from suspicious activities. Don't like getting tracked and killed by SKV everywhere you go? Stop using it until the war is settled. Even then, you have pirates who choose to tune in to contend with.
Normally such a location-notifying plugin is limited to a single guild, and each guild has their own custom-made notifying plugin. This is considered acceptable. I don't really need to repeat what was already pointed out many times before, but what TGFT did was taking it a whole new level, by making it public for all to use.

TGFT Utilities is not a location-notification plugin. Have you even used it failure?
All you can do ask for a list of where a player has been seen. Asking for a list is not the same as receiving notifications.
Furthermore, should TGFT wage war on ITAN for allowing SKV members to use AnyX and share in its spotting technology? Even without AnyX, it's a reasonable assumption that ITAN members would be likely to readily share TGFT locations with SKV members.

In a war the most important factor is not fighting ability, it is public opinion. If public opinion swings away from your side far enough, you lose.
SKV were doing so well with the public opinion that I thought they had this all planned out, evidently I was wrong. Just as they managed to shut the gate on TGFT, some bright spark decided to speak up and say: "Hey you know what would be a great idea at this point? Killing everyone who has their plugin, and I mean absolutely everyone!"
How do you think when a player who doesnt really care for all the politics, gets shot down by some player while running some missions, only to be told:"I killed you because you are using a plugin"?
What you started doing would be the real life equivalent of freeing Prisoners of War, (in a mental sense: informing them the plugin is used to spy on people and letting them remove it themselves).
What you have decided to do now is to kill the Prisoners of War because they are "working for the enemy". (In a very literal sense).

In no way am I saying your cause and purpose is wrong, i want the plugin removed as much as anyone else who knows what it does. But the way you have gone about it is a MASSIVE mistake, espescially considering the progress you had already made.
I never said that TGFT utils is a location notification, and regardless my point still stands. Asking for a list of seen locations as opposed to receiving notifications - both do the same thing. They help you find someone you're trying to track.
You're probably right, that Itan is providing intelligence assistance to SKV in one way or another, but if TGFT is smart, they won't do anything about it. They can't afford to make yet another enemy.

JHX, that's a terrible analogy. Nobody forces anybody to use this plugin; they do it by choice. Once somebody knows that they are automatically spying on people by using the plugin, continuing to do so instead of stopping makes them responsible for their actions.

he will remove that plugin as soon as possible and he will keep running his business

@Pizzasgood
I am not criticising their argument against the plugin, I support it in the utmost, but the way they have handled the situation has been their downfall.
It doesnt matter how "right" a solution is, if it plain just doesnt work, then you shouldnt use it. People using the plugin who arent part of TGFT dont feel like they are actively working with them: "sending a bit of data to them is worth this plugins functionality!" Etc. Repeatedly killing them does not help.
Those who would remove the plugin after being shot down a few times would likely be those who would have removed the plugin after a calm, in depth talk with an SKV diplomat.

nice try greeny...

Yes he will keep on running his business, but what of his opinion of SKV? How would that be affected?
@JHX
i think he will be like:
"fuck that plugin... better to not piss off those SKV bastards..."

Exactly, the goal would be accomplished but at what cost? Turning everyone you do this to against SKV.

JHX, in an ideal 'utopian' world where people are sane and reasonable and intelligent enough to comprehend what you are saying to them - this would be a terrible option.
However, considering with whom we are dealing here, nothing gets people faster to realization that they might actually stop voluntarily or involuntarily spying on others on behalf of TGFT by getting repeatedly shot at and exploded.
Since TGFT plug is a 'honey pot' and its true purpose is masked by some usable features, most uninformed and ignorant people would disregard the tradeoff for some useful benefits and TGFT would have it their way - a universe wide spy network.
In reality - SKV had no choice but to apply 'stick & carrot' policy regarding this matter and stop this scenario from happening.
Wars have their rules. Information is power and tipping the scale towards TGFT by allowing them to create a universe wide spy network is something no sane war strategist will allow.
