Converting the plural to a singular would carry with it the implication that the original poster is now the target (or at least it would to me). I don't know if that's what Mecha intended, but I wouldn't discard it as a possibility in the future.

I considered that, diq, but this is Mecha. Besides, the only way the reply works -- either in the singular or in the plural -- is if Mecha is implying that Tumble is one of the stupid people. Thus, since singular isn't needed for the insult, and Mecha isn't smart enough to think it through anyway, it was an error.
