According to my notes, you are paid up for another couple of weeks. Also, I'm trying an experiment with the station right now and it may decrease the broadcast frequency of the ads, so I'll not charge your for this week.

[OOC: Less annoying live365 ads + a bigger playlist if this works...]

/me suggest some Joe Satriani; high quality, non-vocal, rocking.

"Super Colossal"
"Redshift Rider"
"Surfing with the Alien"
"Flying In A Blue Dream"

I'll heartily second that, Mr. Roberts. How about a little Steve Vai thrown in for good measure?

who? me?: if this has the same or similar content to any other thread on the front page, I'll happily lock it myself.

Well I just picked up a small pile of CDs including Surfing with the Alien and Super Colossal, as well as some Talking Heads, Tom Petty, Elvis Costello, and Blues Brothers, so look for some new tracks soon (I'm still importing them now).

In addition to finally expanding the current playlists for Ambient (default), Convoy, Rock/Metal, and Racing, I'm kicking around ideas to put together other special format lists such as:

Disco night - maybe Monday nights
"Summer" songs - maybe Tuesday nights
Pirate Radio - probably Saturday afternoons, since that seems to be when a lot of pirates are on

The trick is that I can broadcast any size playlist if I keep it in live mode, instead of storing it all on their server, and it's cheaper to leave my computer on than pay for the extra storage. The drawback is that if the connection dies, then it'll be offline for a while, and I have to switch the playlists manually, so I'll probably go for a mix of live and stored content.

I dunno if everyone else has said this, but...

THANKS Screwball. Excellent job with the 'ol radio station.

I'm glad you folks enjoy it. I'm hoping it adds to the enjoyment of the game.

Speaking of which, I'm running a Pirate Radio program for the next day or so. Enjoy!

Arrgh! (not Arrr!) So I test live broadcast mode for 48 hours, it works fine. Then I put up a new playlist and the #$%^&*@ streaming software craps out every few songs...

Anyway, sorry for any outages. I'm trying it again, but I may have to abort this experiment.

I was wondering why I kept getting this telephone-esque operator sound effect...

If you get that annoying message, it means you need to relaunch the stream from the website, because it has a bad habit of changing the stream link sometimes.

I listened to radio TGFt and i just have 1 question. what were you on when you created the playlist? I heard three stright songs about smoking pot.

It's my pirate radio theme. I put in songs about violence, drugs, alcohol, freedom, being a pirate, diseases, etc. It's a random shuffle in terms of what plays when.

Anyway, back to the ambient stuff now.

and the pirate theme plays when? :-)

My goal is to schedule it like the other special content (i.e. non-ambient) programs. I was thinking of running it for a few hours each Tuesday night, but if that's a bad time, then let me know.

I just added another 2.5 hours worth of music to the basic ambient mix. Enjoy.

FYI, Live365.com is doing server upgrades today and that may lead to some outages of Radio TGFT. I've set it to the Pirate Radio playlist for now. I'll be back for the Deneb Run later tonight and switch it to racing music then. Enjoy!
