Title:
Problems in Pantless Paradise.
Text:
For years now "Asuin Ion Breeze" had been a leading destination for exhibitionists from all across the universe. Owner and operator DarkGrayNet said this about his establishment: "For years, we've been happy to serve all kinds here: Serco, UIT and even the occasional Itani. Folks from all over the 'verse flock to the good ol' breeze to feel some solar radiation right on the rump!" Things couldn't have been going better for a favorite retreat of this journalist. That is, until last year.
"The problem is," says a long time customer, "all the damn fatties. They all started showing up after that damn book came out!"
The book he refers to is the acclaimed novel "Fourteen Days From the Life of a Miner" by a favorite author of the upper class, Becka M. In the novel, which speaks of humanity inherent in even the working class, the unnamed main character spends the fourteen days in the nude, to cut down coolant costs in his ship.
Many readers took to the idea, so as to bring themselves closer to the hero of the novel, and nudity in artificial gravity is all the rage, for those who can afford it.
"That's the problem!" said DarkGrayNet "It used to be the only people who cared to get to space were the ones that needed to make easy money, and the only people who could afford to were the slim ones! Made for a great looking clientele. Now the damn rich boys can afford the trip into orbit even if they weigh 150, 160 pounds! We had a lady here last week who couldn't have been any less than 180!"
We asked another frequent visitor what he thought of this new development. His response was mostly unprintable, but could be paraphrased as "This used to be a heaven for midgets and anorexics that like to be naked, but now we can't turn around without seeing some androgynous blob of fat float past! I really hope this turns out to be a short-lived fad, or the breeze could very well lose all its good looking clients. Not to mention orbit."
As far as this reporter is concerned, this might be a season to skip at the breeze and enjoy low-grav nudity in the comfort of your own ship.
For the Red Tundra Journal,
soap.

While I enjoy a good genka post (unless it creates a lot of drama and results in extra work for me), I will not be publishing this item due to the fact that it is not a "serious" news item. And I'll have you know that 150# IS slim!
How goes, Whistler?
Was hopin' you could post me up another Tournament announcement. here are the details:

BREAKING NEWS FROM ELLIAS STAND
Deneb O-3
Authorities are said to be hunting a giagantic mutated humaniform alien hybrid creature thought to be involved with the mysterious disappearances of dockworkers in Ellias Stand.
Over 30 people have been questioned regarding sightings of the creature, which remains elusive. Investigations are underway with the [ITAN] guild to determine exactly how such a creature could have gotten onto the station undetected.
The station remains on "critical alert", and dockworkers have been encouraged to "work with a buddy" in order to help prevent attacks. The creature seems to strike only at lone humans. There are unconfirmed reports that several people have been captured and implanted with alien embryos, but none of these purported "hosts" could be found for comment.
Local Station Defense Net authorities have banned all liquid and liquid containers from coming into the station, and are initiating random shoe checks for contraband. Duct tape and plastic sheeting have been distributed to all station residents as part of standard crisis response protocol.
Updates will be available as events warrant during this fast-moving crisis investigation.

Fun, but not a "serious" news item that could be published in the Station News.
I have a newer version of the guidelines and some other ideas that may help clarify things. I'll kick that off this week.
/edit: Or 20 minutes later
