You're welcome :)
Whistler, could you change my news article on [HOPE] so it says to contact "Oh Dear" instead of "Panis as UIT"?
Okay, it should update within the hour.
Oh, crap, forgot something else. Sorry to inconvenience you further, but it's now "Hope Outlasts Power and Everything"
Sorry, and thanks SO much.
Sorry, and thanks SO much.
er....thats the name of the character to contact?
"Hope Outlasts Power and Everything" is the name of the guild, "Everything" replaces "Entropy".
Sorry for the confusion.
Sorry for the confusion.
Ah, got it. Replaced.
I know this is kind of a small thing whistler, but could please you add [UC] to the beginning of the title of the article i asked for before "United Combatants invites you to join"
I changed the title to "[UC] United Combatants invites you to join."
(item 3261 for my own reference.)
(item 3261 for my own reference.)
thank you bunches whistler.
Hi, Whistler.
I was wondering if you have the chance if you could please add an ingame newspost regarding the upcoming Dueling Tournament.
The rules and all are posted in the relevant thread.
Let me know if there are any issues with this and thanks in advance!

Um...I'll do it in a few hours. I would have done it now had you provided the title and text, but this way I have to find it and edit it.
Sorry... it's the first post on the RP thread... the title starts "1sxt United COmbatants Dueling Tournament..."
sorry... never done this before...
sorry... never done this before...
I see, there really are no examples on this page for you to work from.
In the future, please post the exact text you want in the News here in this thread. I did what I could with you post, given what little time I have at the moment, but what you had there lacked contact info for in-game use and that sort of thing. I may have to go back and edit it later.

ok... thanks for the effort! much appreciated!
np, just have a look and see if you want changes

CLM Closes Diplomatic Doors - PA Refuse Comment
Very recently, the quiet atmosphere of greyspace has turned chaotic with sweeping, rampant rumors; some range from PA turning into a pirate hunting faction and declaring entire organizations hostile, while others tell of excessive mudslinging and veiled threats. The question is, what's really going on?
We tracked down Lieutenant Taranis of the Cargo Liberation Movement to ask him if the rumors of high tensions between the pirates and Pheonix Alliance had merit. After a series of dirty looks and muttered threats to our continued well-being, we did convince Taranis to comment: "Fine, but I'm makin' this quick. From this point, CLM is formally breakin' all diplomatic ties with the Alliance. We're just plain sick of it. Can ye leave me alone to me drink now? How the hell did you people even find me? Go away!"
Our efforts to gain further comment from the Lieutenant were abruptly ended when he knocked his stool over, hefted a battered rifle, and inquired as to whom knew what it felt like to get filled with iron. Attempting to track down his superior, Commander MysticRogue, proved equally fruitless as our crew was stopped by armed men and ushered swiftly from the station. Evidently, a notable excess of these individuals have been posted throughout the installation in question.
We attempted to reach the Phoenix Alliance on this issue in order to gain a response statement; results varied from refusal of comment by their Lieutenant on duty to an animated response of "Go to hell" by Councilman Touriuas. Pilots neutral in this developing situation, however, had more to say: "Lies, all lies!" exclaims Yomina, a local pilot that spends time in the region. Commander Mephostopholes of [FEAR], a new faction starting to take it's first steps into greyspace, states: "If tensions keep rising, [PA will pursue] the freedoms of a pirate free universe."
We also spoke with Councilman Yoda of the enigmatic Syndicate pirates, who only recently recieved word of rumors that the Alliance had declared his faction "Kill On Sight" and targets of a war. Yoda stated "Eh, I knew I was KOS, but we didn't know there was a war!" When asked about what [Syn] thought of current relations between CLM and PA, he replied "[Syn]'s take is, i dunno whatever?"
In order to gain an outside perspective on recent events, we turned to Councilman Eldritch of The Guild of Free Traders, a long-standing organization of tradesmen that frequently ply the spacelanes outside of national territories. When requesting their view on the relative events, there was a lot to be said. The Councilman gave us a very in-depth view of how [TGFT] sees things: "Our current stance is neutrality in any such conflict ... we do reserve the right to protect free trade, [and] change our stance if the principals of our guild are threatened. We are historically not known for our love of pirates, but this rumoured conflict does not yet concern us." When given the hypothetical case of tensions increasing further, the Councilman stated that "the council would convene to discuss an appropriate action if deemed to be required [for protecting] our members' liberties."
With the evidently degrading relations between the Cargo Liberation Movement and the Phoenix Alliance, all we can do now is wait and see how things evolve. If a second war is declared, greyspace could clearly become a much noisier place.

I'm sorry, we must decline to publish your item. This is not the sort of item that is being sought after for the Station News. From the inital post in this thread:
"A few examples of news worthy items:
Live GM Events
Major Guild Transactions
Recruitment Drives
Player Guild announcements"
There are a few issues here:
1) The item is not in keeping with the initial post
2) Several players are named and may reasonably be in disagreement with how they are characterized
3) The intent appears to be to amuse, rather than to inform
We're really looking for Associated Press-style newsbriefs. Clipped, "just the facts", fairly businesslike.
(I made a new set of guidelines and have them up for dev and guide comments. Once approved or modified I'll put them up in a new News thread and we'll go to a slightly different procedure that I think will make things clearer.)

Thank you for replying!
My news item falls under a player guild announcement; it's CLM's way of announcing a recent policy decision, albeit in an indirect way. The indirect way chosen, obviously, is as a news post from a neutral entity. I believe MysticRogue has already contacted the devs to this point, and she may post in here to confirm if she feels it needed :)
The players named are those that were previously interviewed online, under an alternate character of the name "Independent News Correspondent". They were aware of what they were being asked, and server logs (if anyone wanted to check) could show this. I apologize in advance if any of the above should have been made more clear. If any of the above players wish to be removed from the article I will gladly comply!
Additionally, although portions of the article do have a humourous slant to them, the underlying purpose is strictly to not only inform, but allow the reader a multitude of perspectives. Everyone in this article that has been quoted had their words taken directly from ingame on private channels, and some of these quotes (needless to say) are interesting! Consequentially, asking so many is also the reason the article ended up so long. :)
As for having a feel of AP work, it's a good aim to go for. Unfortunately, I felt I couldn't write things up precisely like this. From my previous roleplay experiences, it feels to me that greyspace is much more a frontier; people simply don't believe it until they hear it from the individuals in this manner or similar. Consequentially, a frontier news article simply claiming, say, that "TGFT says _______" is far less believable than if there are actual words, from an actual representative of the faction. I felt these quotes to be an integral part of the article precisely for this reason.
Again, I apologize for any misunderstanding, and will gladly work with you to make the item more compatible with the guidelines if needed (yes, even if it doesn't fit my ideal vision, hehe). Please let me know! If you would like to speak with me outside the thread, the devs or somebody I'm sure can give you the email information on this account. Indeed, this may be best if we wish to avoid clogging up the thread here with our messages back and forth :)
Thank you again for your time. I'm off for tea :)

Thanks for your response. I appreciate your positive approach to working this out.
Let me preface by saying that the intent of this Station News thread, as it stands now, is to issue little news "blurbs" submitted by players in order to support role play within the Vendetta universe. Items should be in keeping with the style that is already seen in the Station News. The requirement for Assosciated Press style "professionalism" was made VERY clear to me when I agreed to handle the publishing here.
Less "newsy" items highlight the current limitations of the Station News, as well as the interface the guides use.
The problem with items that are less "factual" (allowing for a small amount of bias and fantasy) and which mention groups and individuals is that there really isn't a way to verify quotes. I don't have access to the server logs, and I don't think it's reasonable to ask the developers to comb the logs to verify what was said. Then there's the issue of alts. History has taught us that publishing items such as yours and CNN's (see previous posts in this thread) can often lead to a great deal of strife. Strife equals time spent putting out flames and generally wasting otherwise productive time. Posting something in the forums is one thing, since it permits responses, but publishing something within the game brings a much higher level of intensity.
In order to publish this item in the Station News, I would need to have approval from the pilots mentioned, a toning down of the humor, and a clearer announcement. Really, it needs to be much more newsy. I know, that's a lot of hoops to jump through just to get the thing published in the game.
