With the recent update, LTS players can fly the Goliath. This thread serves as a place to write your reports. Say what you like, point out possible bugs, criticize the specs etc. etc. Do anything productive that may help the developers tweak this beautiful ship.
I'll go first:
General comments/opinions:
- I really, really like this ship. It's very pretty. Nice design, nice everything.
- I like the weapon statistics. The numbers of ports seem appropriate, considering the ship is lighter, has less armor and shields than a Trident.
- The cargo capacity (800cu) is way too high. It is the same as that of a Trident. I propose the Trident Type M be buffed to 1200 cu, and the Goliath be reduced to 500cu/600cu. To me, the Goliath seems like an agile freighter with a lot of firepower to be also used as an allrounder on the battlefield.
- I think the shield stats are just right! (about 50% of the shields a TTM has)
- The armor is also appropriate! It has 40% less than a Trident Type M, iirc. That suits very well.
- The agility is really useful. Finally a freighter that turns quickly and could technically "chase" larger capships.
The Goliath on the battlefield:
As a combat-player, I of course flew the Goliath to the battlefield. Observations:
- It uses it guns very nicely against Hive Queens. It can shred those pretty quickly.
- Once the Queens attack you (for example in Leviathan sectors), you better run, since they do damage quicker than you. This seems appropriate, given that it's a small capship
- This ship finally fills the gap of an agile capship Trident-killer. I tested with a guildmate and killed his static Trident in roughly 2 minutes. I expect in the battlefield, when the enemy actually moves, it will just be the "right" challenge to kill a moving Trident while trying not gettng killed by it.
- A bomber normally deshields it. Boda Shandis dived quickly for my Goliath and got the shields down. Because I chased and fired at him, he didn't get off a perfect stack, but he did deshield it with a classic bomber Rag before I could put an end to this run by killing him. This also seems appropriate.
Bugs on the Goliath right now:
- The Goliath Heavy Powercell is totally bugged! When you unequip it, you can not re-equip it and your Goliath becomes useless. You'll have to sell it and get a new one if you do this. This needs to be fixed.
EDIT: This comes from the Goliath only accepting small cells after being de-equipped. It needs to be edited so it only accepts Capship class cells, like the Trident.
- The undocking is still borked. When you launch, your ship mostly spins around still. That's my observation. No idea if it is like this for other people.

Update on the Powercell Bug:
The issue is that the Goliath is accidently registered as a ship using SMALL cells. So when you unequipped the Goliath Cell, you can only re-equip small cells like the Fast Charge. You can not re-equip the large Goliath Cell that it comes with.

Limiting to one buy per 24 hours is kind of unfun.
Whistler. Can you merge Sieger and I's topic together? That way we have one place to talk about it. Or just lock mine and move this to suggestions.
We are aware of the power cell issue and are working on it.
Very enjoyable ship, I played around with boda for an hour or so until he finally managed to kill it. But I got him several times cause the weapons coverage isn't total crap
Bug: When you undock from a station the camera is inside the mesh in the animation
I agree cargo is a bit high but armour and weapons are excellent, it can do severe damage in a short amount of time but it can be chased away easily by a couple fighters so it balances it.

I would also like to pitch in that it's difficult to dock some ships due to them hitting the shields before triggering the docking. Behemoths are the ones I am having trouble with. Other than that I love it.
Note: All the people who didnt spend a lot of time building a trident will claim that the cargo specs are great. I think the cargo should be a hot patch. It is way too much.
@Crazy: I love the Weapons/Placements. Really nice. But the cargo. FOR GOD SAKES THE CARGO.
At the moment people can haul the same ammount of cargo that took players Billions of credits and months if not years of times to haul.

A client patch was released that fixes the issue where unequipping the Goliath Powercell caused it to not be able to be equipped again.
Cargo is definitely too high, I would say 600 tops and I agree with Sieger that the TTM should get buffed to 1200cu
as mentioned by others the undocking is like a carnival ride
Limiting it to 1 every 24 hours when you have to pay 5 million each time is a double whammy considering we are supposed to be testing it out.
I am hoping there will additional capship docks added around the verse to accommodate the influx once these are launched officially.

Damn you think 600 is good? I would think way less considering what everyone had to go through to build their tridents.
Also 1 every 24 hours seems like too little time considering you can buy them for 5 mil. It takes only a few minutes to make that kind of money. I think we can assume this will not be a manufacturable ship though that would be my suggestion. Buying a ship with this kind of armament with shields a large hull and the maneuverability it has it should be way more. Even if it's just for test purpose you need a legitimate pricing to figure out its worth. And right now why even spend time building a Trident when you can just buy this ship?

1 every 24 hours is not conducive to proper testing. It's is only a temp ship currently, if we have to wait 24 hours to replace it you can't experiment enough to find issues.
Thanks for fixing the Powercell bug, devs!
As for obtaining it later: I am not totally against a straight buy system. Sure, manufacturing is difficult and makes you feel like you achieved something. But when the Goliath is rolled out, why not just give it a really big cost? Like 30 million credits, no insurance. So you can fly this thing if you pay a lot and then you better watch out how you use it or you gotta pay the cash again. That makes Goliath killing even more fun cause you know the other guy has to pay a heckton to replace it now.
Manufacturing can be for the upcoming Tridents again.
P.S: I agree that waiting 24 hours is not accurate for testing purposes. I was gonna burn 2 or 3 tonight, calling my location on 100 so people could attack me and I see how I fare against 1, 2, 3 attackers or if I can get away from them. If the fun ends after exploding once... Ugh!

It should be manufactured. Charging a lot like 30m+ credits will just have them collecting dust in the stations except for a few adventurous people. We want to encourage people to use them once they have access to them.
The trident should have more cargo space than the Goliath.
I love all the ports, makes the ship very flexible. Trident should get a ports upgrade of some kind, it's supposed to be a step up from the Goliath. Right now a Goliath will easily whoop a type M.
Goliath is a lot of fun, thank you GS!

Definitely agree the timer is wrong! How can we truly test... i was essentially planning the same as sieger for some heavy combat tests, but am unable to do so.
In regards to the question of, "To manu, or not to manu" i think selling this ship would be a waste of the build up of the whole manu system. Why have the system and then release a ship that players will work with easily twice the motivation to complete.... And make it a straight buy?
The insurance system as per ttms is a good balance between the cost of the ship and the playability of the game. A ship costing 30mill a time is just gonna make it an elitist thing... I am a trident pilot and i dont have thirty mill to burn.
I can barely afford to keep replacing my trident as is.
However... The general feel of the ship is beautiful, as are the weapons, but i think to make up for the being one third the size of a trident needs to be reflected more clearly.
The behmoth carries 120 cu. The bhm models are tweaked further, until the bhm2. This has more space and extra weapkns.... and for its balance to the xc they reduced the thrust and the weapons are gone completely.
Thats also a trade ship line... So, if you are to apply the same logic to the ttm and the gol, there is no way in hell that the gol would fit, in less space, the same cargobay, more weapons, and the same "powerplant".
So, the logic is simple, either increase the stats of the ttm, or decrease the stats of the gol.
To use the logic aforementioned, i would suggest that a cargobay of 200-300 is more appropriate on the gol, and a reduction in the main weapons, or the total number of turrets. Seven main maybe and 1 turret, or less main weapons...
Or the better option in my opinion...
Reduce the total cargobay to a very small amount, 200, like an xc, and do not call it a freighter.
This is NOT a trade ship, it is an assault ship. I fully expect two gol pilots with mega posi and plasma hx to be be able to wipe out ANY capital ship.
If it were described as an assault ship rather than a freighter, and then given a manu build difficulty of maybe 75% of a trident...
So... It rocks. It just has far too many weapons for a freighter! What self respecting trader is gonna waste his cargo space installing weapons systems when his ship could fit more cargo? Yeah sure, basic defense, but surely the three turrets cover that?
But please, devs, after showing us this mean little beasty, please do not change its overall statistics, just make the cargo space make sense hehehehe them seven main ports are tasty

Or... There could be variants. The goliath trade model - no main weapons, 3 turrets, and 600 cu cargo. Then the assault version, 200cu cargobay, seven main, 3 turrets.
Or, we could be looking at it all wrong...
The only reason a ragnarok fails to impress with its 5 ports is because they usually drain all cells incredibly quick...
Another way to reduce the craziness in its weapons would be to tweak its power cell instead - maybe 1000 powerbank, and 100 recharge instead of the trident stats it currently has.
Then it requires energy conservation techniques, and more planning to use well. And... It'd leave something a lil more special for the trident's capabilities.

I am strictly against touching the weapons. We have been waiting for a powerful capship for soooo long. I think to best draw a contrast between the TTM being a big hauler and the Goliath being a smaller allrounder with assaulting capabilities, we need to bring through this suggestion to modify the cargo space of the Goliath and the TTM accordingly!
Keep the Goliath as a straight buy, buff up the TTM and make a variant that has better ports.
It is a super fun ship due to the firepower but it will pretty much put an end to TTM traffic as a single Goliath shreds a TTM very quickly with little recourse to the TTM pilot.
Some tweaks definitely need to be made to balance this out a little more. What those tweaks are I don't have an exact opinion on but Nyscersul had a couple of valid ideas.
Also 30 million with no insurance is pretty elitist approach to take but I don't expect anything less from that poster.

30 million can be made in around 2-3 hours by anyone. Not only by an elite that exists in some people's heads. I think that is an appropriate effort to go through to obtain a Goliath. And a great way for people who do not like manufacturing.
But I will agree that manufacturing it makes just as much sense. We have the system implemented and we should be using it more.
