I'm torn between loving the fire power and it's firepower being too op. It's great being able to have a real Capship v Capship battle but at the same time you can demolish Queens in seconds and two of them can kill a Levi with little danger.
This ship is fun as hell to fly. It's quick, can turn on a dime, and it's firepower is insane. I think it needs to lose a port or two or have its grid reduced along with the heavily agreed upon reduction in cargo. If that happens we can always revisit it's build especially when future cap ships are released.
Also being able to command a Capship to jump through the wormhole with you as Darth Nihilis suggests would be a wonderful QoL feature

I doubt that 2 Goliaths can kill a Leviathan. You won't get past the 4 Queens. Sure, if you bomb them with small ships first, you can then see if 2 cells unloaded at the same time will take the Leviathan's shields. But then you could also go alone and solo it.
You'll end up needing 3 or 4 Goliaths. And that is totally reasonable.
Jaks - Yes. I think it is okay that a Goliath can deshield a Trident or a Constellation Heavy Transports. They are freighters. The Goliath seems to be designed as assault/allrounder. And those should be able to crack transports, by all means.

You're incorrect, the trident is classified as a Frigate. Which makes it a Warship and not a freighter.
And as I said, if the Goliath retains these ports, its turbo drain needs to be increased. This is not a ship that should be able to turbo indefinitely.

The Goliath can dish out a lot of pain, but from what I can tell it also has a real glass jaw. It certainly seems to satisfy the playerbase's itch for a capital-grade gunship that the Trident, with it's anemic single L-port and four badly-placed turrets, has never quite been able to scratch. Piloting the Goliath is fun, while piloting the Trident... really isn't. Maybe it's the old capships that we need to take another look at?
Moot point now. The cargo has been reduced to 400cu an all ports except one large have been removed. (or so i was told)
Awesome! Great! Thank you for completely ruining a great ship @ all who complained about the "OP ports" here! The Goliath now has 400 cu Cargo and was reduced to exactly 1 Large port. All 4 small ports aswell as 2 Large ones have been REMOVED. See for yourself. My alt just got a new Goliath.
Note: The Goliaths that were already out still have their old layout. Once you lose your old Goliath, you can now only buy back this... masterpiece. Hahaha.
Nice job ruining a super-awesome ship, ONE. The only change this ship would have needed was the cargo reduction. The ports were great as they were. Phew. Now we're back to capship combat being irrelevant. Lol.

Give TTM two small ports and Gol original ports
it was fun while it lasted...
Thanks for the fun, even when it was short :)

The Goliath may have been planned to be a freighter. But it was obvious that mostly everybody enjoyed it when it had 7 ports. It was a fresh new ship that looked awesome and was an awesome little assault wagon. Now it's a bigger XC with shields and a large port that can do nothing.
The thing is that the ship was fun and that everybody welcomed this fresh and new idea. Now it is not fun. And what the playerbase thinks is fun should be considered over vague plans.

Could you keep it on topic? Its about thougts/reports regarding the goliath, not the RP section nonsense...
This update has nothing to with any one mans opinion. Not one person in our guild likes the changes.Which I'm sure no one in the game does. The whole point of this is for testing phases.
Id suggesst lowering the cargo more and adding a bit more fire power. The one thing most peopled like was fire power.
We'd finally have a a gunship

In general the Goli is nice when first released... but now it a 400cu 1x large port shielded hvy moth.
Ugg
I would not build or LTS for that.. Id stick with a Hvy Miner at least i can carry real weapons in transit..
Even if it had 600cu 2x lg 2xsm it be better but not in its current state..

3 l ports at the very least, the 4 s ports may have been a bit over the top i agree
Ideally i'd also be ok with 2 L and 1 S
But now with 1L and lower cargo it's pretty much shit

I don't care how many ports you put on it, just as long as the trident has more. P.s. Nerf the UDV sensors or give the trident all the sensors.
Dirty smore has a point. Maybe it's time to give the ttm more fire power.Of course everyone is lovestruck with Goliath. But that is because of ther abailatibly. Put better turret locations and another small port or two or large port on the ttm and you are close to balanced
The Goliath was not intended to be the way it was released. It's a lower-end freighter, it is not a battle-wagon or gunship. It's supposed to be the lesser of the Trident in every regard other than, perhaps, maneuverability and handling in tight spaces.
I am not ruling out the possibility of future Goliath "variants" that are stronger in various ways. But, for the moment, I'd prefer feedback on this new "baseline". Think of it as a more "accessible" entry-level capship.
"ONE" had utterly nothing to do with nerfing the ship. It needed to be nerfed as soon as I realized what had happened.. but it's really complicated for us to remove ports on a ship that's already released. We actually have to release a new ship, and then go change the database to swap all the existing ships with the new one, which is much more involved. So, it took a little time. After all, holidays.
Please carefully adhere to the strictures of the forums, and do not personally go after individuals and guilds, it will not be tolerated.
I place zero value on the argument of "you made something game-breakingly powerful, and it was fun, and you're supposed to make fun stuff, so why did you take it away?!". Of course, everyone thinks it's Fun if we release wildly overpowered stuff, at least for awhile. But it undermines the notion of, say, multiple players being needed to take down a Constellation, or the value of cooperation in gameplay. Everyone wants Everything to be Awesome, until they eventually realize that actually doing that removes meaning from the game, and basically makes everything suck.
So, anyway, back on target.. now that it's somewhere remotely more sane (albeit boring), any particular feedback, challenges, issues, and relative merits in comparison to other things?

Thank u for keeping the large port,
I wanted to ask, can this ship be significantly cheaper and easier to manufacture than the trident?

What the game needs is player-controlled capships that can take on other capships. If that wasn't the role intended for the Goliath, then maybe it's time to bring out player-controlled Terradons?
I think the important takeaway here is that improving combat is valued much more than improving trade.
