ah yes ghost, you can use Xvid or Theora as the codec for an avi file instead of divx
:)

Looking forward to this one, too. Lemme know when it's done!

So making use of this time while I'm waiting for Nerde, if I post the movie in AVI format, is there anyone who will have trouble playing it?
If Alamar has room, I may post a QT format as well as AVI. Does Quicktime not work for some people?

AVI is a (microsoft?) container format. If you make an .avi using a standard codec (xvid, theora, divx (is ok)), it should be playable on the 3 major OSes. Linux, with the right stuff installed (some of it illegal to distribute (ms codecs)), can actually play just about anything.
Quicktime 7 plays AVI's
alright, AVI it is then. Thx for the info. Now Nerde has until saturday to send me his audio.
YOU HEAR THAT NERDE?!?!?!

If you want to post another format send it my way I can host it.
Lemme check my network settings. I might be able to host the movie too. And if someone tells me how to the damn thing, I could even put it up for bit torrent.

QuickTime doesn't systematically play all AVIs. It really depend on the codec being used.
For what it's work, I recommend MPlayer on Mac to deal with them damn AVIs. Also, DIVXDoctor is goot for converting those files back to a format QuickTime can really grok.
Both are sharewares available on www.versiontracker.com.
An mpeg4 would be better actually. It's an open format that does a good job at being multi-platform and offers good keyframe/sequence ration under most circumstances.

Alright, well, i'll post a few different file types providing people will host them for me. I don't want to take up all of Alamar's bandwidth.
As for Nerde, I still haven't heard back from him since his post in this thread, anyone know what's up with him?

Hi everyone. I am sorry about my lack of communication. I'm writing an email to ghost right now as well. I only have net access while I'm at work, so I get a few minutes here and there to work on my laptop when I'm not running around the International Broadcast Center. Nice to know people miss me though ;) To make things more clear, I am currently in Torino, Italy, working as an Intern for NBC's IT department at the Olympics, and will be here until March 3rd. Hope you all are having fun playing with the new client. I'll try to be in touch more often, if work allows.
Love and popcorn,
