I HAVE to ask: will some missions allow you to attack PLAYERS, based on Guild?
I mean, it would be cool if VPR could get a mission to nab as many CLM and SYN as possible, or if SCAR could go on a more rewarding Itani hunt...

Actually, in Escape Velocity the function to stop mission camping
was solved by giving probabilities for missions to appear when one entered the "Space bar" (A place where one could gamble on ship races and read the newspaper).
Thus, it would be great if there would be a quite low probability
on different missions appearing to a player, and I'm not saying
the probability 0.005 is too little.
The key is many missions, not a high probability a mission to appear.

The thought (as outlined in News, by the way)is that paying customers who have "demonstrated their involvement in the game and general trustworthiness" would have access to the Mission Editor. There would have to be some sort of approval process built in so that the Devs or Guides could analyze user-submitted missions before they are unleashed onto the production server. I suppose an early (but not ideal) submission process could be to just have users submit ideas via email or the forums.
Inc: will there be a torrent for the update?
as for the dialup users, I'd recommend using something like FreshDownload from http://freshdevices.com if they don't have resume-support built into their browsers - its by far the most reliable way to finish big downloads at low speeds with the risk of getting cut off.

The Vendetta Updater supports resuming, no? Why not just distribute that without the main data files, which can be downloaded through the updater?

Those submitted missions... are they general game missions or can they be targeted to specific nations/guild missions such as "TPG" or "Itani"?
Ultimately, could "guild missions" eventually be extended to actual player guilds? (Aka, [ITAN] for example)? Though, this would require (I suppose) that player guilds be "homed" somewhere.
As a long-time developer, I'm very interested in this process.

Score! wtg devs... you've done it once again. Looking forward to seeing this mission editor in action.
I may not be a trusted player, but I'm gonna work up a mission thread based on capturing crates of tequila. Maybe some nice guide or "trusted player" will implement it for me.
Maybe if I bribed someone with cookies....

I haven't seen the revised Mission Editor, so I can't give you precise answers. I do know that there is some ability to make missions available by faction level. The initial rollout is going to be a little simplified, but the intention is to increase the complexity as we go on. This will be much easier once the basic tools are integrated into the game.
Leber: Why wouldn't you be trusted?

Because LeberMac is a drunkard.
Don't eat any cookies Leber has even come near, they taste like a guy who lives in a bar, doesn't shower, and pisses tequila.

Great idea for those folks on dial-up.
As for inclusivity, let's be realistic: VO has got to be one of the slimmest MMORPG clients currently in production. If these guys bend any further backwards to accomodate the community, the bloody update won't get released.

Thank You, Forrest, Nuthou5e.
See? I mean, if nuthou5e can't trust me, then I'm a lost cause. I'll admit that me writing code for an actual mission is rather farfetched, since I still can't figure out how to bind a sequence of commands to a key combo in V-O. So most likely I'll have to have Miharu/Nerde/Roguelazer/Solra/Alamar or someone with programming knowledge to actually make my wishes come true, which will involve bribery of some sort.
If I coded it I'm sure that something horrible would happen, like 10,000 Tycorp Assaults would spawn and crash a sector, or I would accidentally erase the player info database, or I would cause the Hive to attack each other and eradicate itself, or something. >:P

Sounds fun, I hope *ship type* makes it into the list of targets.
ie : You must destroy 10 Behemoths, 5 Centaurs, and a Valent Ec-101 type II, and recover as much cargoes as possible.
SWEET!
