Those pics are awesome, RelayeR. I remember hearing about that when it happened.

Here's to unintended consequences. May the Devs never be outsmarted by their own code.

Nice set of captures RelayeR. I remember having a ball flying from inside the Nemesis' hull.

LOL, well, yeah. I guess. It'll be easy. Just use the same chips [SCAR] uses on their rag pilots.

Hehe, nice piccies RR, I remember having a ball trying to free the begger, it actually got stuck over the exit docking bay, so anyone undocking ended up inside it :P
Or why not take the "Capship Station" idea and leave it at just that? Player owned stations would just clog up the universe making huge lag and every empty sector in the universe have a station in it after awhile. Why not just have a Capship station? It would act the same as a station, only more mobile. In order to repair damage (wear and tear, battle damage) you'd have to take certain amounts of minerals to it to be used. (this would work well for a backstory behind procurment missions)
Just cause you can haev a player owned station doesnt mean there will be 100s of em. It could be that no building stations in 5X5 square radius of another station.
I like the idea of a cappy also acting as the player's station, but there are some problems.
One, cappys aren't indestructable. An undefended cappy can easily fall to a spam rag. Stations battle this with strike forces, but having a mobile object (one that can move through sectors) that can continously spawn defense bots has its obvious problems.

I had a storm go through when doing this...try again.
I turned the Brightness and Contrast up a touch, and I may have uncovered more.

I wanted to point one thing out about balancing who can buy capital ships. As long as the ships need gunners (i.e. the pilot cannot fire most of the weapons remotely him/herself) then you do not need to limit who can purchase and fly them. I think it would be sort of funny to watch Joe Blow pilot his cappy into B8. I would think even a Rev C could seriously harrass it without significant retribution -- just strafe around the hull faster than the lone pilot can change which turret he is in. Of course this still requires a removal of the insta-hit "mining beam" turrets.
my pictures still own yours =P
