and it would be helpful to use screenshots from the current build, and not from beta.
Otherwise, coolness...

Nice, I'll see if I have and blue pics....
Very nice indeed.
Aside from the fact that it reduces the amount of actual "content" space down to about 1/4 of the page, and it probably wouldn't work properly on low-res screens...
Personally, I don't like it.
The planet in the top-left is just plain intrusive and spoils the line-up-ness of the whole page. And the font is kinda... grating. Plus the screenshots appear to mess into each other without any sort of divider, and the main page has a chasm between it and the menu on the side.
Its pretty, but... not very good... if you ditched the planet and changed the font and laid it out, well, more like the current page...

I think it looks nice, but I really don't see any problem with the site as it is now.

hahaha
I love you n00b

One thing I DO like about the existing Vendetta banners and art is that they include the ships and stations. That for me is very important in forming a first impression.
oh n00b is Genka... that explains it.
it's nice. more attractive.
i like the "Chronicle of Exile" below the "Vendetta Online"
It 's look like a Movie :)
and the beauiful moon pic in wallpaper.

I could care less how it looks. What I want is REGULAR updates to News and In Progress. Sometimes it feels like this web site is abandoned.
Most of the work that could go to REGULAR updates to the website is going into the design wiki, which kinda makes In Progress outdated.
Agreed, Jakob.
Chikira: Design is OK if a little dark. I like the font (Trajan?) for print work and headlines, but using it for almost everything makes it a little too hard to read. The sharp-serif font combined with the big moon and dark sky makesthe site look like a werewolf-oriented site or buffy-the-vampire-slayer fansite or something.
My suggestion would be to put three ships on the site somewhere (a Valk, a Prom, a Maud) along with a capital ship orbiting one of the cool stations. Mention something about three races in the far future struggling for survival in a hostile universe. Or artwork that gets that feeling across.
I would further suggest matching the website layout to the in-game graphics. It kind of matches now. Making it match moreso would be good in my opinion.
And just for Roguelazer, I want the entire website to be built SOLELY in Flash, and hosted by a ColdFusion server! HA ha ha hah aaa.

actually, I don't care for "The Chronicles of Exile" under "Vendetta Online" because that'll up the Itani recruitment to probably 80% of all new players.
I agree Crip, I think we should start a petiton to have the devs remove the Serco from the game and be done with it.
i seriously like the integrated look of the site. having things in seperated boxes, like they are one present site, are more cheesy than this idea, in my opinion. to compare this site to EVE-online's for example (www.eve-online.com), there isn'ts any seperation between the left-hand navigation, the center content, the top banner, and the right-hand extra options. it's all unified through color, lines, and where the eye travels over the image (i know, sounds weird, but it's a design element).
one thing I do like about our present design is that there's less buttons to push. EVE's site has so much stuff that it's cluttered, even though the content is organized well. in this proposed design, (and our present one), content is organized satisfactorily-well. the moon should be half the size in this idea, if only to save space, but I think it's a much, much stronger image than anything we have on our current main page.
to someone who mentioned the difference of screen sizes, yes, this design wouldn't (at first glance, mind you), work on something below 1024x768. But our present design doesn't work on larger screen either, or on 1024x768—it doesn't fill up the whole screen. now, for some people, smaller is ok (personally, it's not), but unless you can get that smaller content-window to be unified in your background, however big it is, it's worthy to check it again. I think the star background here, which could repeat forever, is much better then our simple sea-green background (or look at the EVE site again and use text as the buffer zone for screen sizes).
overall, our present site is good and suits our needs, except for it looking severely outdated and having the possibility of so much more—if only in aesthetics. this idea isn't perfect, of course, but it's a step in a direction i think we *really* need to explore.

Seraph, you sound like one of those people that think frames are a good idea.
I'm sorry, I actually dont see any real problem with the webiste as it is, sure it could use a lil update here and there (like being able to edit titles, grrrr) and like another user has already said, in progress will soon be irrelivent, the dev wiki will assimilate you all, ect, ect.
