LOL rin.
I can get the jar of crickets if it helps.
Are they even alive anymore? You been feeding those things?
So to further illustrate my point about infi turbo here is an interesting excerpt from yesterdays TGFT meeting (complete link):
[05/27/18 14:18:42] (guild) [Bractus C-5] <tsreknor> so i don't read VO forum, but have heard about top speed of hog 2 and atlas x about to be nerfed
[05/27/18 14:18:47] (guild) [Latos N-2] <Energomash> ive gotten at LEAST 5 invites.
[05/27/18 14:19:07] (guild) [Bractus C-5] <tsreknor> anybody know specifics on this?
[05/27/18 14:19:21] (guild) [Bractus C-5] <tsreknor> nerfing atlas x would be quite serious imo
[05/27/18 14:19:25] (guild) [Odia M-14] <Galactica Actual> first I have heard
[05/27/18 14:19:25] (guild) [Sedina L-2] <Ecka Estenk> not seen aythibg yet
[05/27/18 14:19:38] (guild) [Sedina L-2] <Ecka Estenk> but why would they ? \
[05/27/18 14:19:54] (guild) [Bractus C-5] <tsreknor> ecka pls, you know better than to ask that
[05/27/18 14:20:00] (guild) [Sedina L-2] <Ecka Estenk> true .....
Perhaps I am misinterpreting but that reads to me that they are more concerned about the infi turbo ships keeping infi turbo than keeping their top speed. As the suggestion says nothing about nerfing top speeds only require top speed of over 200 to have turbo drain.

reads to me like they are concerned about a nerf and its effect on the usefulness of the affected ships
Read the entire meeting.
Only replying here because of the link a few comments up.
Just an FYI, I have never "flipped the IFF" at the station. In fact, my policy (and FAMY's) is that we do not pirate or shoot other keyed pilots at the conq stations (unless they're poser-pirates). Not even TGFT.
I have, however, been present in the conq sector when the IFF was off. This I admit. I don't remember taking Narwarlpuss' IBA though. But if it dropped and I was there.... well... Rule #5 is Don't Waste Good.

Omg Wash you are a proper legend for posting that. Been a while since i read the gossip rags of TGFT, brings back fun memories.
-1 travel is boring.
Greyhound Bark
Ahh the annual top speed infinitubo thread. Let the developers work on something more meaningful than a weapons nerf or a velocity balance. There is bigger fish to fry. Killing noobs should still be sporting for both parties. Im not against this necessarily, but implement a cap ship interface, the hulk shrapnel or whatever the project du jour is seems like a better use of time to me.
And as wash points out, "Greyhound Bark". Everyone is gunna fly cuckhounds run around and fill 100 up with mindless drivel. No thanks!

I removed several posts that were not discussions about the suggestion. Please remember that the Suggestions forum is for making suggestions and discussing their merits (or lack thereof).
Damn, i missed the salty posts!

I like little fast ships.
Running is a valid play option.

There is nothing in this thread that suggest reducing top speeds. Only adding a turbo drain for anything over 200mps. Jesus did you people all fail reading comprehension?
Top speed and infinite turbo are inextricably linked and the threads after this will be, "Cap top speed of x-ship". As it is right now you can slaughter noobs relentlessly in a hound. What ships are you having trouble killing Wash? There aren't many ships above 200 that don't drain, save the hound, AtX and warthog MKII. Maybe a hornet. I don't see what the problem is.
Here's the math
Senario: SVG with IHDPC (500) chasing a HOG 2
SVG with full battery can travel for 100 seconds before battery is tapped out. Both ships are at top speed 225 & 220 respectively. If the SVG is not within 500 meters of the Hog at the start of the chase the Hog can infini turbo till the SVG battery dies and escape.
Senario: SVG with IHDPC (500) chasing a Atlas X
SVG with full battery can travel for 100 seconds before battery is tapped out. Both ships are at top speed 225 & 210 respectively. If the SVG is not within 1500 meters of the Atlas X at the start of the chase the Atlas X can infini turbo till the SVG battery dies and escape.
Now 1500 meters sounds like a no big deal senario and in most cases it is not but when you factor in that after entering a sector within a few seconds the Atlas can go back to full turbo without having to wait on battery charge where as the SVG will say gain back maybe 150 energy which means it would have to be within 450 meters to catch the Atlas X before the battery is tapped.
So Interceptors like the SVG or X-1 or UDV still have to be within specific short ranges to close on infini turbo targets and have a decent chance of landing hits. Rather than say well lets nerf this top speed and that top speed requiring a turbo drain on +200 mps ships (excluding the hound as this was its whole purpose) makes more sense. "Then everyone will fly hounds" you say. That may be true but with a higher cost and only being available at 3 stations in Odia I'd say that is a fair trade off.
Side note: Something like +1 turbo drain for every 5 mps over 200 so for example Atlas X would be 52 turbo drain & Hog 2 would be 54 turbo drain. That doesn't seem unreasonable compared with say the WTD & Hog 4 which is 60 to go 220.

^I see nothing wrong with that.
Instead of a lengthy forum campaign for a game-imbalancing nerf, why not just accept that some people are going to run away successfully from you sometimes, regardless of what ship you have?

Shoulda piloted a hound.
Sounds to me like you want the SVG to have infiniturbo. and to that I say +1.

Well then the suggestion should have been to make SVG a proper interceptor and not to ruin hog2.
