You totally missed my point, PoL. The reason it is cheating is because it allows people to use real world money (whether bitcoin or paypal or whatever) to buy in-game stuff. That is cheating, plain and simple.

Well your point is valid and logical, perhaps it is some kind of cheating, but you have to admit that this kind of "cheating" does not ruin the game for other people - and this is probably why other MMOs do this.
But the devs get cash, people who got cash get "better items" which are not actually better, non-paying people are not losing the game because of paying users have more money.

This is a pretty elegant solution which is used widely & successfully on many MMOs. If it works for them, why wouldn't it work for Vendetta ?

Actually no, that is totally not true. Numerous examples:

- EVE online has in-game credits for which you can pay your monthly subscription fee.
- Second life has builtin currency that is exchangeable for dollars. AND bitcoins (but not officially - on an external market).
- Silkroad online has built-in player-to-player market for items

And even though trading stuff for real money is banned in many MMO games, people still do that in numerous black markets. Why is that ?
The reason is that you can't ban selling credits, items & accounts the same as you cannot effectively ban drugs. Banning of this things is doomed to fail for the same reason the "War on drugs" is going to fail.

People did it, do it and will be doing it, so why ban ? It is smarter to **build a buisness model around that market**, just like Second Life did. And this is what I am proposing.

Essentially what you are proposing is to permit steroid use in sports. That is an entirely different issue from the idiotic war on drugs. What people do in private is one thing. This, however, is a game.

People in Vendetta should not be allowed or encouraged to use external resources for in-game benefits. Even if the stuff they buy is literally identical to what you can get with in-game resources, it still saves them time, giving them an unfair advantage.

Yes, there will be people who do it anyway, but not having an official method will significantly reduce the number of people who do. After all, that's the whole point of rules. Of course people will break them, but the rules help to discourage it. I mean, people commit rape every day, but do you see many people seriously proposing to legalize it and build a business around it?
