A suggestion:
- Make a new, extra in-game currency + ingame market for things that are exchangeable between players
- Allow buying the currency for Bitcoin via some web interface. For "Bitcoin haters": PAYPAL & CREDIT CARD MAY ALSO BE AN OPTION.
- Allow exchanging the currency between players
- Allow buying game subscription for the new in-game currency, thus creating an economy of people who earn REAL MONEY by selling things in-game.
- Allow new duel mode: duel for money. Both of participants enter credit into the bank. The winner gets all.
PROS:
- Many new occupations possible: Duelling for money, grinding items & ships for money, other stuff that haven't been invented yet.
- This can potentially create a group of people who's extra job is grinding items or in-game cash in Vendetta and earning real-world money.
- This will also attract some geeks & crypto-nerds into Vendetta as there is a lot of them using Bitcoin.
- After this is done, devs may get free advertising on Bitcoin forums.
- VO would be first game to officially accept Bitcoins. Free publicity. Free press. Free PR. Free advertising.
POSSIBLE CONS:
- Hacking. The new currency system would have to be perfectly secure, because that is real money we are talking about.
- This won't work very well without random in-game items which give users some upgrades over standard items (either are slightly more powerful or just look better)

No, absolutely not.
What part of "that is cheating" do you not get?
That would be like making it so that when playing Monopoly, you could buy somebody's property cards using real money if you had some to spare and lacked funds inside the game.
Which would be a bad thing.
Duh.

Contemplate the words of Gaz and rectify the situation.

Bitcoins are dumb - i managed to generate 0 (zero) bit coins and 4gb of transaction data in bitcoin which i have no idea is for. I dont care either, it was one experiment that taught me that bit coin mining is something only strange people do..

Basic newbie mistake. You probably read too much about mining. Bitcoins are not here to mine them.
They are here to buy them, use them and trade with them, just like gold. Mining is expensive, difficult and requires special knowledge and equipment. Exactly like in real life.

bitcoins are an experiment, F2P is not an experiment, the latter has been ruled out, why do you think they'd even consider the former?
@TheRedSpy
### bitcoins are an experiment, F2P is not an experiment, the latter has been ruled out, why do you think they'd even consider the former? ###
Because that would generate massive amount of free publicity and get some people in the game.
And isn't free publicity and more people in game what the devs are trying to do for the last 2 years ? Going android/windows phone ? Kickstarter ? That seems to be the general direction.

Bitcoins have already been discussed at length here. In a nutshell, Incarnate said they were aware of bitcoin and may look at it again at some point.

Yes, however this is not a discussion about Bitcoin. This is a proposition for a new in-game market system with credits interchangeable for "normal" currency.
Paypal & credit card could be also an option, why the hell not.
Bictoin just so happens to be is the perfect currency for such markets, because it has been named "the currency of the internet". And it attracts geeks & hardcore nerds, which happen to be similiar type of people to these playing VO.

I play a game that has over 3 million users all around the world, the don't use it in game or out.
I have been a geek for 45 yrs. I have never used it.

"Yes, however this is not a discussion about Bitcoin."
Correct. This is a discussion about how you want an official means by which to cheat.

Actually no, absolutely no. I said (quoting): "(either are slightly more powerful OR JUST LOOK BETTER)". "slightly more powerful" is just an option.
Only items you can buy from game makers for cash could be the better-looking items (the BLING-BLING factor). No battle advantage. No better stats.
Instead, weapons & items having better stats can be GRINDED by players through hard work & a lot of time spent, just like it works in Diablo II and most of modern MMO's.
And THEN, these items can be sold to another player in the in-game market for in-game credits. So we are essentially creating a player-driven economy of "grinders" and "buyers" working and trading together.
This mechanism is exactly like the real world, and this is why it will work.

So, kind of like how Nahin, myself, EMS... and dozens if not hundreds of others already already do by farming rare drops or crafting items and selling them for the already existing in game currency?

Oh yes, buch my idea is much extended.
First, the randomness of the current "rare" items leave much to be desired. Stats of the items should vary much more. See diablo 2. See WOW. See Silkroad online. See any recent MMO, actually.
Second, the new ingame currency (which could work next to the OLD currency - no need to remove something that is working) would be exchangeable for real-life currencies, which creates a REAL INCENTIVE for a lot of grinders to work hard and for everyone other to trade with them.
If you would simply stop hating & insulting me unnecessarily all the time, you would see that my ideas would completely remake this game into something exciting (even for you) and thriving with player activity.
