OH, Impavid has a cruel deal of insight to it. Unfortunately, I must agree. We have a great game, without small-scale improvements, only big ones which makes the feeling of the game is stale, left without a care.
We have a suggestion forum, where we can whine, but actually, only minor stuff is listened and brought to a game from it. I offered help already in PCC forum, but I got a silence.

If the developers diverted from their main course every time a new "major" suggestion was put forth, nothing would really get done. Having only 3 developers means they have to use their time wisely.
As for your suggestion in the PCC forums, that has been offered many times before with the same response each time. I'll try to find Incarnate's response in one of the old threads.

How about if they just did what they've been asked to do -- and claimed to have been doing -- for the past 6 or more years? You know, implementing really fucking basic things like (1) user drivable (or at least rentable) cap ships, (2) a dynamic economy, and (3) A FACTION REDUX.
Or would that be a problem, too, Slime?

They are working on capships now, and none of those things you listed are "basic" to implement. A basic idea does not necessarily translate into basic implementation.
Aww, it's so complex?
Six. Fucking. Years.
Six. Fucking. Years.
Yes, Lecter. Six years: mining, completely redone client, new ships, new cap-ships, new ship variants, new weapon variants, new tradeable commodities, dynamic bots and NPCs, shields on cap-ships, Kourier, improved graphics including new backgrounds, storms, better lighting, and updated models, redone trading system, Lua scripting, conquerable sectors in Deneb, conquerable stations in greyspace, dynamic NPC convoys, static NPC turrets, multi-person ships, voice chat, radar occlusion, a touchscreen-enabled port, etc, etc....
This is getting pretty off-topic.

Let me get this right, Slime: I say they overlooked basic stuff that's needed to give the game a point at the expense of wasting mindboggling amounts of time on worthless crap, and your comeback (after claiming those "basic things" take a lot of time) is to cite an endless stream of examples of the Devs wasting time on stuff that amounts to polishing a turd?
Thanks for making my point.

Honestly most of the stuff they have implemented (many of which are fairly large features) I would prefer over your three that you seem to assume everyone wants. It's not "wasting time" to work on the Android port over making player-controlled capships. If that's what you really think then I have a hard time understanding how you think your input has any merit, you clearly don't understand much at all.
This has gone so far off topic that I won't argue any further.

denying the existence of evolution
What?
Lecter: I have to agree with you about one thing: other things, besides time-sensitive opportunuties such as Android, need to take a backburner for certain important things (i.e. faction redux), regardless of the time it may take to get these important things out there. But, there have been remarkable improvements to the game still. Conquerable stations, radar occlusion, and dynamic warfare in Deneb were all important things two years ago when I started playing.

I bet you will still argue slime...
I think you made my point as well. The economy redux was coming "in a month or so" 4 years ago. In truth nothing of significance has been added to the game. What's actually happened is Inc has gone off on tangents, implementing half finished "features" and breaking a bunch of other stuff in the process, then he gets pissed when it's pointed out. (I found you a supposedly fixed money bug and 3 different instances of cargo duping, you're welcome)
I'm going to miss space quake, but I'm confident a more focused and talented group of developers will step up and create a much better option.

This is looking like a lock quickly.
If you don't like the situation here Impavid, leave. It can not be your business. Whining doesn't fix anything. Some of us have faith in VO and/or enjoy playing it already.

You're a delusional butthole.
Hey, all we know there were interesting improvements in last 2 years. But problem is, that game is lacking content with one month of evolution cycle and less.
All stuff noted here by you, Slime, is stuff with evolution cycle in years or more months. Yes, its necessary to implement it, we are very happy to have it there. But it's a big stuff. I say with no offence:
Game needs small-scale, low-period content improvements. Howgh. Try to deny that. You simply can't, because there is a big almost-void in this area.
But with this we are going into flame. Except flaming, nobody seems to gives a fuck about our opinion. Because we are just players, right? Do play or don't.
Lecter plays VO many years. He is probably not picky about words he uses, but old players should be listened with the caution.
[EDIT: corrected typo]

Looks like I'm not the only one who's not picky about words he uses.
Why don't you go crate some closet monster candies?

Ok. I probably made it little bit big-mouthed and with typos. Sorry.
But hopefully you got the point.
EDIT:
I didn't mean it in bad way, really. I truly love VO. I am glad it is here. It has so huge potential, and still missing some features which can make it much better for low effort. It's still impressive how great game can be developed by such a small devel team.

Just to help with the scale of things - An MMO like eve or wow takes like 300 man-years to develop into the product you know. VO is being built by 3 and only has a total of about 30 man-years of development.
Relatively speaking, Guild is in fact making very fast progress.....
