you could just simply ignore them like any grown adult would .....

Opposition? I mean this in the nicest possible way: Please think before you type. I am not in opposition to the idea of not having bots watch traffic. The current situation however isn't sufficiently bad to send me on the warpath, as the bots are few, and are not working together.

I am opposed to the idea of a blanket "No bots" ban though - I have no issue with IRC relays and other interesting things that can be done with bots. But I'm all for "no bots monitoring traffic".

As for my "pre-pubescent mentality", I neither deny nor apologize for it. However, do keep in mind that you provoked it by implying that I was a liar after I had already said we pirates only had one bot. If you poke a dragon, do not complain if your eyebrows get singed. ;)

BT are you saying you prefer your dates not to "kiss and tell"?

Sir_tradalot is in fact a bot, and it doesn't belong to a pirate guild. I know this because I know who owns sir_tradealot.

CHRN isn't active because there's no reason to be. The same reason blak left, the same reason the TGFT leadership doesn't play (Ecka doesn't do fuckall in grey, he knows it. Phleg logs traffic, Ecka and surb have completely avoided H2): VO is dying.

Who gives a fuck about bots? VO is about to die, curtesy of a misguided portable platform plan, the happy accident (because I can't give the devs credit for the shrewdness of it otherwise) is that they're also pushing the pirates out of the game. Can't build a cap ship without a hidden station...

Stop bitching. Bots are a part of VO. VO needs bots to survive, not enough paying accounts otherwise. I've played at times when bots outnumbered real players. Bots will be a part of VO until VO closes it's doors. It's more likely VO will become mobile only, because a shared universe is suicide. Mobile players won't stick around when they get pwned by desktop players, and they won't stick around anyway since mobile gaming is casual and never worth a monthly subscription fee.

Play Black Matter instead.

I feel strange saying this, but... I agree with Imp.

A simple working alternative would be to "lock" all bots in the same sector, let's say Dau capital. (Or any capital, including Corvus)

Any "player" who stands active more than 24h in same sector would be magically 'caged' in Dau L-10. To be free again, account must open a ticket with Devs.

Like this, bots would be welcome, BUT privacy remains respected.

I see that Alloh isn't clear on how easy it is to program a bot to jump around a bit. Of course, as Alloh's a drooling moron, I shouldn't have expected anything more.

I disagree that mobile users would pack up and leave just because they won't be able to fight worth crap. Plenty of people can't fight worth crap as it is now, and they keep playing anyway.

Also, the android stuff could improve the amount of PVP by giving people a way to make money with trading and mining when they otherwise wouldn't be able to play at all, so that when they return home to their desktop they can spend more of their time fighting and less time replenishing their credits.

It may also increase the number of traders flying around waiting to be pirated.

Another potential benefit of the mobile availability would be publicity. People who might not have tried it otherwise might hear it and try it on their tablet, and then decide they like it and start playing it on their desktop as well.

Impavid, you sure do sound like a broken record. It seems that you aren't aware that a lot of focus these days is given to the conquerable stations. People like Ecka are often found around them. H2 is dead because there are more interesting areas to be around, which is the same reason why B8 is less populated now.

I'm a bot. Do you want to ban me as well?

I know at least a few members of TGFT have been spending more time lately with their Serco 'relatives' on the Deneb front ;)

VO is dying.

VO is about to die

Just because you dirtbags got bored and left the game doesn't mean the rest of us aren't having fun.

they're also pushing the pirates out of the game. Can't build a cap ship without a hidden station...

The devs listen to you whiners easily as much as the rest of us. Just because you don't get what you want doesn't mean the devs want you out (not saying they don't). Who doesn't know where the stations are? Newbies only need to ask.

"I disagree that mobile users would pack up and leave just because they won't be able to fight worth crap. Plenty of people can't fight worth crap as it is now, and they keep playing anyway."

Please - Have a little respect...... I just prefer to mine and trade. I just do not have a use for all the adrenalin anymore.

Personally I would think a xbox or ps port would be more appropriate but It is not my arse on the line. If guild found a way to make money off of the android stuff then I think it is great. The thread is about player run bots monitoring sectors - lets try to stay on topic by ridiculing the op instead :P

PaK, you know full well that threads evolve. Or do you join Nahin in denying the existence of evolution?
Jan 25, 2011 PaKettle link
Very few evolutionary steps result in an improvement.....

They should want us out. They make a big deal of having non-consentual twitch based combat, but they also understand that same feature turns a lot of people off. Hell, actually having to fly your ship yourself turns a lot of people off. So does not having character skill XP for people to grind for. But mostly the thing that turns players off to VO is the RIDICULOUS YEARS LONG LACK OF REAL CONTENT.

No one on any platform will keep playing VO unless they're diehards...
