"I fully object to your advising players to log Whistler. Not only will it make said player KOS, it is bad form. "
It would be had I advised to log off while in combat or while being pursued - which I did not. While I did not specify, I was envisioning logging off from a station.

FistOfRage needs to learn to break lines.
Damn 15" 4:3 screens.
Also, bad idea. Do not implement, do not bother to read. Move on, nothing to see here.

Whistler,
If a player makes it to a station and docks safely, then yeah, logging off is acceptable. Its just much more fun when they repeatedly make a run for it :P

I'm most displeased with your bullheaded, stone-walled approach to this topic, one that I might point out, you started.
As my friends FoR, Whistler, and kihjin have said repeatedly, you need to stop and assess this most critical point:
-You have created an account with a game called Vendetta Online, an MMORPG. The "Introduction" page on this website (link top left of this page) states that there is combat, and:
"If the user wishes to be a peaceful trader, military pilot, guard for hire, dastardly pirate, or whatever the player imagines, this is all up to the behavior and play style of the user."
Knowing this, you now persist in making a troll of yourself, and flame-war of your topic by attempting to establish your personal form of morality in a virtual game (and remember, it is a game) that already has a clearly defined set of morals and ethics.
As I stated previously, piracy is and will continue to be an element of this game, and it is a necessary, and even challenging aspect of VO. To attempt to remove it, because you yourself find it "hard" or "difficult" is not a reasonable, fact based argument.
My recommendation to you is that you listen to the advice of your elder, veteran users/pilots on this topic. Learn to fly and fight before placing yourself in a position where you may encounter pirates. There are station and border defenses that prevent pirates from entering national space, where every pilot starts their VO experience.
Listen and learn from the veterans, many, even the pirates, are decent individuals who will answer any reasonable, civil question you ask of them, and they will answer to the best of their abilities.
Additionally, for more information, you can visit the VO Wiki here: http://www.vo-wiki.com/wiki
And for flight instruction, you can typically contact a local guild for assistance, if you cannot locate an individual pilot that you would like. Here is a link to a topic of active guilds, including their national stance: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/1/21516
With that, you now have the tools at your disposal to make or break your VO time. I'm sure if you take this and learn from it, many of these VO users will give you a clean slate and a fresh start, but please do not continue to flame-bate the forum, as you will not manage to accomplish anything except frustrating yourself and others.
Should you decide to leave however, I wish you the best of luck in locating a game more in keeping with your interests, and perhaps we will play again together some day. However, I hope that you would leave on a good note, and not make me or others regret our attempts to help you as long as you were here.
Should you need further assistance, post a civil, reasonable question here and I or another will answer.

TFAD!!!!!
I think this is a good idea.
/me smells troll
This simply cannot have been meant in earnest; I refuse to accept the possibility that a being capable of operating a computer could also be this stupid -- to do otherwise might cause me to have an existential breakdown.

good call!
/ignore, move along

LMFAO
sorry to cause problems for you doc, but yea, I've seen people this stupid operate a computer, even more hazardously, a car.
I just wanted to note that I didn't even realize it was possible to log off during combat.
I had assumed that Whistler was referring to logging off at a station, though we had not specifically indicated what we meant (Whistler has since corrected this).
I don't at all recommend, condone, or believe in logging off during combat. Whether you wait for the log-off countdown or simply kill the process, I suspect if you are really in a combat situation you aren't going to survive anyway. When you die and spawn back at a station, then you can log off.

After reading this thread I have come to one conclusion.
I have a Pirate character and I am going to find and kill you.
I have a Pirate character and I am going to find and kill you.
Assuming I haven't already killed you already and perhaps even caused you to make this thread
killing the process makes your ship float for 10 seconds.
Everyone seems to agree this is a terrible idea, can we get a lock already before this poor noob is mauled to death?
dude you are all morons i already said TFAD paul.k is me haha peytros you are so funny!
lmfao! Well played. You certainly made an ass out of me ;^). Its only what I deserve though, for feeling guilty about laughing at poor paul.k at the start.
TFAD is a misleading label in this context.

Doc, go to a local town hall meeting purely for the amusement value like I do. Sit in back; just watch and listen. Leave all firearms at home or you be sorely tempted to use them. You will learn that there is a reason that Advertisers write copy at 5th grade level. You will also come to realize that the stupidity factor of "peyclown acting as troll" is nothing as compared to the outstandingly blind stupidity of other people in your local municipality.
And just think, you might have to interact IN PERSON with those folks...
