utter crap improved is still crap :D
and i'm not really in favor of making it a super duper chase ship with that small of a hull. Even the cent hasn't got that little hull and is as big. It would just be a gimped valk... seriously very gimped

Yeah but we need a good racing ship for the Deneb Run.
what would be the fun in any ship entering the deneb run be a raptor :(
when it comes to the long distance races, there are also factors of battery discharge/recharge rate, infiniboost, 'spin time' (you have to spin around about 180 degrees every time you warp), acceleration rate (time it takes to actually reach top speed). and of course hull strength when you factor in pirates.
maybe the raptor excels in one of these areas but lacks in another and things sort of even out?
i dont know.

Rene, because then it's a test of pilot skill and not just "I'm too low-level to get a Valk or a Orion Hornet"
Besides, the raptor LOOKS like a racing ship. How about having a sprint version (More thrust, less top speed of 230 m/s) and a marathon version (Less thrust, 240 m/s top speed).

'Loving these ideas for a sprinter ship. Response from Guild?
I have always wanted a ship built purely for speed. I think the Raptor would be a great model for such a ship.
Raptor could be a perfect NINNY ship.
Some good suggestions...

Ananzi: Err, could you elaborate on that? I'm not quite sure why that's necessary.
(I don't race, however, so I'm ignorant.)

Cabbage, the surest path away from asteroids when you warp into a sector is to turn your ship around completely and head away from the center of the sector, thus saving you the trouble of having to thread your way around other asteroids or whatnot.
It's not optimal ALL the time, but it's a good rule of thumb - the surest way out of a sector is to turn 180 and turbo.
Make the Raptor matter! Make it a special delivery ship/racer!

Oh! Right.
Ok, I thought he was saying that you have to turn 180 degrees after every wormhole jump. Whoops.
