I have a suggestion...

... that Ayn stop using Babblefish (he's most certainly not using Babelfish) and type his messages in French. Then the people who care can translate them.

Cry me a river, Ayn, it's getting fixed anyway.

Aww. He pulled a Lecter and deleted all his posts. Dr Lecter : I blame you.

terriblecabbage: My point was that these pirates do not attack anything that moves. You either have to attack them or be in possession of their booty. There may be other faction-related reasons for them to attack that I'm not aware of but I go into those sectors all the time and they just sit there.

All I have to do is to attack one and watch for it's partner. Then, rinse and repeat. Two bots at a time.

They do indeed attack you for no reason. Unless Momerath has introduced an unaligned faction system that we don't know about, then they are indeed attacking anything that moves as far as I have seen.

attacking anything that moves? I thought this was a good thing. Makes grey space dangerous. So what if the pirates are a bit stupid, it keeps you on your toes

They do attack anything that moves. This was an unintended consequence of making them unaligned (so they would be red on your radar). We'll definitely be making the pirates and all other npcs more interesting and unpredictable, but my impression is that most people are happier with the unaligned aggressive bots than the corvus semi-aggressive bots. Obviously their numbers have to be kept reasonable, and I believe they will now remain so. More interesting behaviors to come.

Actually, it was kind of neat tonight. I was in a brutal rev c fight with Hawkeye (Vpr), who after getting stomped by me in the previous fight decided he'd had enough of that. He had me down to 7%, with a nice chunk of hull left to see him through the last bit.... when a pirate NPC hopped in and AGT'd him to little bits.

I was pissed off, but if you look at the RP side of things, it was quite excellent :)

Now if he had decided to agt me to little bits, I would not have been impressed, not even from an RP standpoint!

Hey, blame the frenchie in him, not me.

Running away is just what he's bred to do =)

This is why we need to start quoting trolls when we respond to them. ;)

It probably would've been more appropriate, pirates are renowned for their ganking skills. :D

Yes! Another point for the Forces of Common Sense! Dangerous Pirates in Reasonable Numbers!

As for quirky behavior, I'd like to see a pirate attack, then try to flee, and should you be foolish enough to follow him another three warp in around you and they all gank ya! Would be a good tactic to pull off escorts from the traders.

My apologies, terriblecabbage... it must be some guide-thing that they don't bother me. Either that or they're afraid... very afraid.
