Positive attitude is always good. I admire Leber for it.

Ctc, however, was never about neuts mk3. It was more of a competition in outsmarting or outmanouvering the other team that involved good teamwork, coordination and dedication. I still have a fond memory of defending Itani voys against 4 or 5 serco attackers, grabbing xit from destroyed transport in front of them, playing hide and seek with my pursuers to get xit to divinia. I think lot of former dedicated ctcers still remember adrenaline rush situations during their ctc days. But, its over now.

As for my suggestions/ideas, since they require a dev involvement for setting things in motion, ill have to contact them directly.

… an whoever outsmarted the other team got what??? N3's, if it were truely about the outsmarting, outmanouvering the other team then why is it still not as enjoyable? None of that has changed.

It's funny how he has to keep making these posts to defend the point. Even Ayn seems to realize the hopelessness in opposing, like, the entire community.

Anyway John, instead of quoting your post I think I'll just remark on the bits and pieces I recall.

First of all, whatever the RP nerds what gray space to be is different from what it actually should be to make the game more fun. When I did active "combat training" waaay back in the days of IA, I didn't just duel all the trainees, because that's not helpful. What helps someone develop PvP skills is also not getting killed in ten seconds and then spending ten minutes flying back. Whatever you guys want to say (Unless, like, Shape disagrees with me, in which case I have to edit my post), PvP has extremely little to do with lots of thinking about it. You get good by throwing ship after ship at better players and developing your own style. That's impossible in a "dangerous" grey space, as well as if you spend 1/100th of the time you play actually fighting.

smittens,

why can't you train n00bs in nation space? there are plenty of unmonitered sectors where you could fight without standing loss, or you could use the duel system to avoid the standing loss.

the point johnhaw was making is that grey space is ment to be the "fronteer" where every day life is dangerous and unforgiving but the potental rewards are grater, and for those who are true oputlaws they aren't welcome anywhere else.

you should practice in nation space before venturing into grey, and military guilds should hold their training and recruting in their home teretory rather than take everything into grey.

the attatude that grey space is where everything hapens is just because we're all too lazy to think of events that could hapen in nation space, and the small playerbase causes a desire to cluster in one place.

Yup, pretty much what he just said. Nice Q!
Apr 27, 2006 LeberMac link
Hell, agree with JohnHawl there. The whole "Grayspace is dangerous, etc. blah blah" Yep. Agreed.

(Oh and the "How-fast-can-you-kill-bots" thingy is INTENDED as a group thing, but not REQUIRED to be one. I think groups will do it much better and faster anyway, so natural selection will weed out those who wish to do it solo - they'll have much slower average times.)

Although, I do sense you're being more of a jag lately on the forums, John. Ease up, wouldya?
Apr 27, 2006 johnhawl218 link
A Jag? I'm just sharing my opinions on the forum, your more then free to share yours as well. But I'm not going to "ease up" on anyone.

johnhawl says : But I'm not going to "ease up" on anyone.

Of course not, you always hit turbo when engaged at close range.
Apr 27, 2006 johnhawl218 link
How bout staying on topic and less about me, or simply lock this one up and call it done.
Apr 27, 2006 softy2 link
Nah, we are not easing up on ya! :D
Apr 27, 2006 johnhawl218 link
LOL, fine come at me, what you got? Another lame VO joke. Please I'm sooo worried.
Apr 27, 2006 softy2 link
Heh. Always fun when you hit the hot buttons.

/me just waits for johnhawl to hit "explode" when pwned.

You think I'm all raged out? Hardly, too busy playing better games to trip off of what your all saying.

Opinions are welcome here, but the manner in which they are offered can lead others to miss or disregard The Point. If one's aim is to communicate an opinion to others, then presenting it appropriately is important.

I've had people respond "Well, that's their problem!", to this bit of wisdom, but the fact is that problem lies with the speaker who is unable to get their message across.

Also: "Never argue with a fool. People might not know the difference." [Anonymous]

Apr 27, 2006 johnhawl218 link
Then I guess we should not argue with you hu Whistler!

If your to caught up on how I'm saying what I'm saying that IS your deal not mine. Seems that others are not having as much trouble. And I can't remember how many times some lame person such as yourself has made that exact comment. I simply don't care how I come off to you.
Apr 27, 2006 Snax_28 link
Hahaha. I'd say something along the lines of how deep the hole is that you're digging, but apparently you think you're gonna make it to China.
Apr 27, 2006 johnhawl218 link
No... What you fail to understand is that I don't give a shit about VO anymore. It's a waste of time to wait for 4 guys to create a great game. They can only work at one speed, slow, and if they try to go faster they get momer mistakes, which are no fun. SO, even if there is a hole that I AM digging, who cares!! It's not going to affect me at all.
