I've uploaded a core dump for this exception to http://apt.singpolyma.net/vendetta.core.gz
Sounds like you have one of those gma500 (poulsbo) chips. Does it crash right at startup? If so somebody had the same problem with it already:
http://vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/2/22745
This update suggests that it should work:
http://vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/1/22810
http://vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/1/22818
Maybe it something broke in the mean time.
Try deleting ~/.vendetta/config.ini so that the game can redetect it or disable some opengl settings in there.

I originally reported this error.
Seems like pretty much a no go for Linux due to the GMA500.
I had to reinstall Windows XP to get things to work fairly well with VO.

Oh ok. I thought your posts in that feedback thread referred to the linux version.
Actually they did refer to the linux version.
I just meant that after I reinstalled XP on the netbook, then VO worked ok. (sry if that wasn't clear)

It doesn't crash right on startup, though sometimes it crashes before reaching the menu, sometimes after I've been in the game for a minute or two.
Yes, I have GMA500 running latest psb drivers for Ubuntu.

You reinstalled windows and then it worked on "Linux"? That doesn't really make sense, and it's not really something I can try since I don't have a windows to reinstall.
Also, in the thread linked the devs ask if there is a way to find out where in Vendetta the error occured. For any devs that may read this: the core file I've uploaded can be used with a debug build of the game and a debugger (I use gdb) to get a backtrace, etc.
No! Linux was installed, then I reinstalled Windows XP and it was fine. (I normally hate Windows, but on the netbook I really didn't have a choice due to the GMA500)
