I'm on a mac and downloaded the update at 10:20 PST. When I click "Play Vendetta" the update window closes as if its working but nothing else opens. I went into the package of VO and tried opening the client directly but still nothing happens.
The same thing is happenening to my cousin, Heywood Jerome, who is on Windows.

I installed 10.3.9 and it started working, nm
I do mind. I'm using 10.2.8 and it won't launch.

Same here. I'm also using 10.2.8, and it won't open here, either.

Have you tried restarting your computer? Since this was happening to my friend on Windows I figured thats what did it.

I had already restarted my computer shortly before starting VO. Also, since at least one other user with the same version of the same OS as mine is reportedly having the same problem, I seriously doubt that it is just a matter of restarting.
This seems to be a matter of OS version incompatibility.
Devs, do you have any idea on how long a fix would take? My account needs to be renewed tomorrow to keep it open, but if I need to upgrade to Panther/Tiger in order to play, then I probably shouldn't renew the account until I save enough funds to upgrade the OS first.

Yeah, I have 10.2.8, doesn't work. So I can't play til I get tiger?
They probably linked it against a newer library version. As soon as the devs get in, I'm sure they'll fix it. This happened once before to Linux people when VO got accidentally linked to glibc 2.3 (nice for those of us with 2.3, not nice for those of us without).
Okay, it turns out my cousin was trying it on his new mac which I forgot about. He's running 10.3.7, so I think 10.3.9 is the needed OS
tap tap tap tap.... I wanna play VO! *whines*
AHHHH! That totally sucks. Sorry guys.
I'll try to get Ray to fix this tomorrow. sigh.

Same here! Mac OS 10.2.8 Downloaded the "update". Nothing happens. I'd prefer to play, but if I need to ask for a refund, I will. I only mention the money part, because the last time a politely submitted bug reports, (3 times - provided related case numbers too) the developers chose to ignore me. I've yet to receive a response. So, I'm not holding my breath on this one. I'm certain someone's pet gerbil must have died and the whole office was just too distraught to answer the e-mails. Dudes, you people are lame.
Ariodante: the devs usually don't reply to bug reports. They log 'em and fix 'em. If you want to report something and have it be kicked around by people, then post to the forum. Either way, the devs find out about it.
Dang, me too! Ever since this update, and I've tried everything!
Anyway, can I have 4 free days for this? I mean, I'm not paying so the thing can crash on me before it even starts.

Fixed, finally.
I'm going to go ahead and extend all OS X users' accounts for a week, which I hope is enough to compensate for the trouble (and because I don't have any way of discerning who uses 10.2 and who uses 10.3+).
I knew I shouldn't have released on a Friday again.
Anyone with specific concerns can email me (andy@guildsoftware.com).

Thanks, and I don't know if its more work to do so, but feel free to take away my bonus week. I got it up within an hour and would rather give you guys the money.
Thanks a lot.
Yes, thank you Andy, (or John). Whatever, whoever fixed it, I'm kissing their shoes.
"Absense makes the heart grow fonder" And when I wasn't able to play VO... well, yaknow the rest :D
[EDIT] And about the one week extension: thanks a lot, but I'm going to be in Michigan for a month, do you think you could possibly put the extra week on sometime in September for my account?

yeah, Ray and I were visiting family for Father's Day. Got home around 7pm and after he heard the message he went into work.
Poor guy also has a bad a cold and still went into work. :(
