It seems VO-Gate.com has bit the bandwidth bullet... anyone know how I can get a hold of Lemming, the site's operator?

I guess the site was popular :)

Yah, the vendetta wiki is down. I am not the site's operator, I am just hosted off of some one else's site. I don't know how long it is going to be down but for the time being you can use google's caches of the site.

Hmmm. A bandwidth constraint is not the worst problem a site could have. :-\

A suggestion for ya Lemming: Sign up for google adverts or put a paypal link on the site and enable the VO community to help cover your host's bandwidth costs. My $0.02.

Jebus! Well, if you're using less than around 40 gigs or so of bandwidth, I can host it for you.

LeadFist: He has nothing to do with it. Bug StarFreeze, it's his site. We just share the hosting. :D

Oh it's StarFreeze's website... whoops :-P

Hum...

Anyone know what's happening with this? I would be willing to donate a little money to help buy some more bandwidth.

I haven't been able to get into contact with SF. I've been passively trying to, just by looking over the user list in IRC. I think it will come back next month.

That one wasn't an april fools' joke. This mornign, instead of the usual 509 error, I got a 404 error while trying to access the wiki. Now the 509 is back. Maybe SF was playing a joke on us.

Maybe not, how much bandwidth did you guys go through?

I have some real old webspace I think could host this, it currently a half dead *me wishes it would die* website, hehe

But I would like to know what the current wiki bandwidth usage is before I say ya'll can use it.

The only person who can tell us is SF. Nobody knows where he is. :(

perhaps the wiki team should look for a new host?

It appears as though SF has been consumed by WoW:

I don't remember seeing her around this galaxy.

I can host the Wiki (and provide PHPBB forums), but only if it's using under about 30-40 gigs of bandwidth per month (or if people want to pitch in for a dedicated server). I've already got domains for it, too (www.vowiki.com and www.vo-wiki.com). :-D

Edit: Hmmm. Actually, my plan may allow me 100 gigs of bandwidth (meaning up to 80-90 for VO Wiki). I'll have to call 1&1 sometime and check.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that StarFreeze got into one of his "moods". Hopefully Lemming was diligent in downloading backups of the wiki database. http://www.vo-gate.com/lookatme.jpg and the /mediawiki/ folder was deleted. Damn him.

I don't know StarFreeze so I can't say he got into a mood or not, but it sure seems like it. If Lemming was able to backup the DB I'd be happy to setup something on my webserver to host the wiki. I only have a few customers on it now anyways, just enough to cover the cost of it.
