Thank you for the offer, but I'm fairly sure i've got another site to set up on.
Unfortunately I did not backup the wiki because one, I didn't have access to the DB, and two, I did not expect SF to delete the wiki. It's going to be a long week.

Well, we still have most of the data on the localnetsys version. If we combine that and the google cache of the vo-gate one, we should be able to salvage most of the data. Get us a server and the wiki team will start the grinding work of data transfer.
I hope he enjoys not being about to play WoW if that's where he went. They can't keep their servers up for a day before they crash and they recently had to bring realms down for 3 hours just to give everyone bonus XP (a SQL Write Query shouldn't take 3 hours)

Well it sounds like there are others willing to help out so cheer up.
Yup, I'll be hosting the VO Wiki for now. It may take SL and I a bit of time to get it up and running again, though.
is the localnetsys version still avaliable to look at?
if so what is its url?

Check out the pictures on the front page of vo-gate now. Wth is his problem?
me thinks he either wants another host, or wants to keep it all for himself, which is it SF?

Thanks Yoda.
Ray hasn't shut down the site so my version of a FAQ and Strategy Guide are still up. I also have back ups.
I may even update the info if needed.

suggestion: have a back-up super-admin for the wiki host server(s) environment. If one admin drops off the face of the planet, the back-up can at least migrate the wiki db elsewhere.
From what I know of mediawiki, it has a built in backup feature. You don't need to be server admin. At least, it does here.

Even better. Have a couple of wiki admins doing regular back-ups to secondary/archival storage locations. A wiki back-up can't take up *that* much space, can it?

I (will) have MySQL access on the new wiki, and I do plan on backing it up often enough that we won't lose too much data.
The wiki will be up and running as soon as I get FTP and MySQL access. (I have the user names and passwords, they just aren't working yet.)

*cough*
Lemme see if I can get 'em working...

New Message Up On The Page :
It looks like some people are still coming here. For reasons unknown, yet at an increased rate the people come. Lets see one of the places these people are coming from.

Hmmm interesting topic.
Anyhow, it breaks down like this. If thou wants, then thou shall get, only if thou finds.
The date and time is April 3rd, 2005 - 4:00pm
On April 5th, 2005 - 8:00pm everything will be gone that related to this server in the past. Enjoy the next 52 hours.

Wow, sounds like a sociopath.

SF, WTF? No, seriously, quit being an arse. I know you're reading this.
Lol, he just blocked my IP. Now I know he's reading this.
Now, I would be entirely out of line if I mentioned that because of WDRB Compliance requirements, StarFreeze posted accurate contact and registration information on his website's whois, so I won't do it. I would also be blatently unethical if I were to mention that he had a Tomcat server running at vo-gate.com/index.jsp so I won't do that either. And it would be of course in violation of the principles by which I live my life to point out that Rizon is the name of an IRC network, and that vo-gate.com just recently showed a channel name of #yesy as its <title>. It would of course make no sense for me to suggest that somebody connect all of this information.
