If the rats don’t like it then one can be sure that it is something the rest of the players will like and it will therefore be good for the game.

Really, he's right. In fact, rather than giving it 4000 armor, you should just give it 50,000 shields. That way, nobody will ever have to worry about repairing it, much less losing it.

I'd say the alternative would be to take all weapons out of the game, and replace them with L and S port flowers, but those douchebag pirates could still ram traders. And some traders might be allergic to flowers.

Whine and whimper all you like. The fact is the game is not just for your pleasure, the rest of us have our own ways of playing the game without you. Sorry to break it to you, and some of the other rats, but a lot of people don't like you and don't want to play with you. Perhaps you should just play with yourself.

If I had wanted to fight trolls I would have joined WoW. Combat is PART of the game but it is not the only part. There are other aspects of the game that do not include you. Like I said, if the rats don’t like something that is a good indication that the rest of us will and that is good for the game.

This site is not doing well as far as members go. Few people join and even fewer stay and the rats have a lot to do with that fact. The more the rats like some feature in the game the fewer players we have, so any new feature that makes them unhappy is a good thing.

But at least you two will have each other to play with. :)

Utisz, I think we should instead harp on the point that a two person ship shouldn't be incredibly easy to kill by one person. As two-player ships enter the game, teamwork should become a bit more necessary.

If a two-person ship were as easy to kill as a one-person ship... what would be the point in flying it other than the novelty? I don't think we need to add "novelty" to the game, let's make new additions count for something. What many rats don't like is the thought of having to work together... but this is a reality all will soon be contending with.

Utisz,if you want absolutely safe area where there is guaranteed no pvp I suggest you stay in the training sector. Not all pirates are trolls, and as long as you leave the training sector (only truely safe place) there will be people than can pwn you anywhere anytime. Get used to it.

The pvp anywhere anytime is a major part of the developer's image of the game.. its not gonna change because you whine about it.

"Utisz, I think we should instead harp on the point that a two person ship shouldn't be incredibly easy to kill by one person. As two-player ships enter the game, teamwork should become a bit more necessary."

I agree. A two player ship should be very hard to kill by one person and should require teamwork to bring down. That is just the sort of thing that some players do now want to see and that is just the sort of thing that other players want.

One of the reasons that the devs spend so much time trying to figure out how to “drive” people into Gray Space is that people would not go of their own accord. Why? I suspect that a lot of them do not like to associate with the players who hang out there. Why should one group of players be “driven” into associating with another group that they would not voluntarily associate with? It is that kind of thinking that drives a lot of players away.

So, like I said, if the rats don’t like it then one can be sure that it is something the rest of the players will like and it will therefore be good for the game.

I am not the one whining about not wanting ships that are too hard for one player to kill, that would be peytros.

And no one is talking about "safety." I am talking about having to associate with trolls. If people liked these sorts of people then the devs would not have to spend so much time trying to find ways to "drive" them down to Gray.

The devs "vision" is not as important as the customer's willingness to pay for the game. If not a lot of people play the game then it is probably time to examine the reasons for that.

Your vision of the game is your business and you should feel free to play that way but I am free to play as I like and that includes not having to play with people I don't like.

By all means make things tempting in Gray and any player who chooses to go there is tactically agreeing to play with you and your kind and by your “rules.” On the other hand there should be areas that are difficult for the rats to go to and ships that are dangerous for them to attack.

There should also be no attempt to “force” people into areas they do not want to go or to play with people they do not want to play with.

I have no problem with you and your group playing with each other, so why should you feel you have the right to insist that others be forced to play with you? If one group insists on having everything their way then they will end up killing the game.

Excellent points wukkel. Frankly I would much prefer to deal with whole squadrons of really first rate AI pirates that the rather sad collection of trolls, griefers, weenie wagers and misfits that disgrace the proud name of pirate in this game.

As you can testify, many of these folk do not add to the game, they are simply a low grade annoyance bent on their own pleasure at the expense of others. The more players, like your friends, that these self centered primadonnas drive out of the game the worse it is for the rest of us.

More players mean more money for the devs, which in turn means more features for the players and more players sticking around once getting trolled gets old. More players also mean more good people who are fun to play with.

A lot of the rats have trouble grasping the fact that many people don’t like them and don’t want to play with them. So anything the rats don’t like the other players most likely will like and that is good for the game.

is this guy quux in disquise? he has more catch phrases then fox news. go back to hko utisz cause im sure some whiney carebear really knows what a pirate is. call me a troll griefer weenie wager etc at the end of the day i'll still pwn you and laugh as you beg for the devs to make it safer.

Just in case I'm misunderstanding you...

Utiz, how long have you been here and why do you think of pirates that way?
May 02, 2009 Utisz link
To quote incarnate:

"Guess what: our newbie turnover rate has been absolutely terrible, in part because of griefing that takes place before they've even figured out how to fly. So, yes, I'm damn sure going to prevent that if I can, and you can call it a "safe place" or a "simulator" or whatever you want to.. it is necessary for the continued health of this game, and the company that makes it."

It is self absorbed adolescents like you who are killing VO. Face it, not many people like you. You seem to be laboring under the delusion that you are important and that some how the “threat” of you “pwning” someone has any meaning.

Obviously you do not read at a sixth grade level yet. No one has said anything about making the game "safer." This isn't about "safety" it is about not liking trolls.

I hate to rain on your parade kid but this is only a GAME. Those of us who make suggestions are looking for ways to improve the game (and save it from trolls like you) but at the end of the day it is still only a game and there is nothing you can do that will impress or even inconvenience us very much. You are only a mild irritant, nothing more.

I suspect that your mommy gets lots of letters from school saying “does not play well with others.” Perhaps if you ever grow up you will learn to think outside the small box of your own ego and desires and learn to get along with people instead of spending hours blowing hot air and telling lies about your life.

In the mean time people will continue not to like you and they will also continue to make suggestions as to how to save the game from you and your kind and there is not a thing you can do about it.

This thread seems to have devolved a bit, I'm going to go ahead and lock it. If people are interested in the return of NPC pirates, there was a Suggestion thread about that, not too long ago.
