"As a result, Ray is now working on making multi-player ships a reality in the near future. I can't say how near of a future, because we don't know yet; but if all goes well.. as early as this Friday, if not, then next week"

Oh, you are making me so much want to spend more money on this game and not get any real-world work done ever....

Well... This is interesting

The reality is though, that you cannot have a multiplayer Ragnarok, due to the model issues. It makes MP ship Border Skirmish useless (unless you can stick a turret on top of a Ragnarok, keep it balanced, and keep it looking nice, anyhow). Here is what I would do in your situation. Do you have a storage of models somewhere that you can implement when you aren't busy with other stuff? If not, could you make one?

Are we going to be able to have passengers?
Apr 28, 2009 Phaserlight link
Re: zamzx, isn't that implied by multi-player?

I like the what has been happening to what's going to happen approach.

Let me clarify- will we be able to carry extraneous people, people who are not in a turret?

"waaaait a minute... why are we heading towards a leviathan?!"

Zik: in the short term, it'll be limited to people in turrets. So, a particular version of a moth that can have a turret, or whatever other "heavy", and the extra personnel takes that position.

I have no problem with the general idea of passengers, but if it's something we want, it'll have to wait until after this first-generation "extra person mans the turret" implementation.

Awesome. I think the behemoth heavies currently in the NPC convoys would be the ship first released since it's already 'worked out' as far as ship model goes...

Great to see that kind of progress. Good job, devs.

as long as it doesn't have 40000 armor hit points those things are a pain to kill already they don't need human aimed turrets also

What, so a duo should be able to be solo'd by one rat with little effort?
yes... because that is reasonable... what? no. just no.
if you want to take out a duo-moth, team up with someone to make it easy. see what working together gives you? The days of the lone rat "mastering" the galaxy are numbered now...

aye....Caps are not going to be much fun for one man crusaders.....

...or whatever other "heavy"

Let me preface this by saying I'm very aware that you guys probably have the particular "heavy" already picked out, and are holding back on proclaiming said heavy for either dramatic effect or bug testing purposes...

Either way, personally (and I have been waiting for this moment for a very, very long time) I think that the first non-cap-multi-player-ship should be the SCP. For a number of reasons:

1. First and foremost, it would allow the SCP to move back into it's role of the most fearsome heavy in the game, with a, now enabled, caveat: you need two people to fly it with a turret. Either hard-wire the AGT to the platform, or make it so you can only launch with an AGT equipped if you have 2 pilots.

2. Players who destroy an SCP single handed (for ex, in a rev c) recieve 2 PKs.

Whatever the outcome though, it's nice to see some solid results coming. You folks never cease to amaze. Weren't you supposed to fold some 2 or 3 years ago? 4 devs? 4 years? C'mon!!!!

And while yer at it, nerf the hell out of the agt's tracking speed. I'm guessing this is another variable that will need to be/has been added to the agt, but...

..can you imagine a two pilot SCP with an AGT that could track like Lecter's Mom after an Ambulance?
