The bots in s17

THey dont let you get any where near the s18 gate, chase you shoot you, you have to avoid and loose your bearings.

Spoils the sector, infact i dont even want to play the game.

errrrm, I think this is the point. Too many people would be able to get the special ships otherwise. This sector should be there for those who can survive it...

Else make money on the 14-15 route ;)

Even if you have a 1500m head start, they can catch up to you and destroy you before you make it to the wormhole.

can we have a button that you can press and bots go away?

If you can't fight the bots in sectors 16, 17, or 18 (and it is possible) you probably shouldn't be flying through those sections just yet. It is difficult for a reason. It's supposed to be challanging. Try again after practicing for a few days.

The bots in 17 & 18 are extremly dumb. Multiple times i've sat in the middle of 17 with bots flying around me but they never attacked me once.

If you have some following you on ur way to 18 just fly backwards and fire some weapons at them. They will back off to about 500m-600m then they keep following till your about 10km from sc11...then they fly off and never bother ur again.

Turbo is also helpful...It's the tab key. Plus if your new you shouldn't be going that far out. Stay on the 14-15 route is best for n00bies.

they've NEVER killed me.

If you kill the leader the other ones run away... I've found that 4 prox mines will kill the leader every time. He's so stupid that even if he shouldn't run into them, he diverts course so that he does.

Sunflares also kill all three fairly easily. Go with a wingman, have him be the "navigator" and when the bots get close, turn around and blow them away. Then turn back around and follow your wingman to the hidden wormhole. The devs have said that s18 is supposed to *only* be reachable by a "dedicated team of players" after all.

the bots are easy to kill yes, but its hard on your own, 9 times out of 10 i have to avoid and loose course, ive found it twice with out flying through the two roids.
Jul 19, 2003 Caerdydd link
The point hes making is, to kill the bots you need to turn around, which means you lose your heading and cant find the s18 gate.

it's simple enough to get back on course.

/displayshippos is your friend (until the game has a *real* navigation system)

What would be cooler is if the devs disabled the "set home station" button in s18. Right now once you get in and you save your home, you're pretty much set for all the times you die. Where's the challenge?!
Jul 20, 2003 Dagger link
NOOOO! Don't do that.
We need the "set home station" in s18.

It rocks. Heheeee.
Jul 20, 2003 randomize link
i agree, home in S18 button should be disabled.
Arolte has hit the nail on the head - almost every pirate has S18 set as home.

To put it in perspective, it would be good idea to have stations that is not possible to set home to. There also should be stations that limit your stay there and just eject or destroy your ship after set period (from days to hours and maybe minutes in some cases).
Jul 20, 2003 Cmdr. Freeman link
No, it would be a bad idea (especially now - maybe once Vendetta has several thousand players and sectors, things could be different).
The idea is stupid...someone has to be allowed to home there. There's almost no reason for a station in a sector if *someone* can't park there - and Vendetta is WAY TOO SMALL for factions now (faction controlled stations is what I was implying).

Think about it...you fly to 18 and buy a special...how can you story-wise get away with parking your old ship there if you can't home there (and, given the bots, why would you take a loss on an uber-ship you just built to get out there by selling it)?

It makes no rational sense. Sector 18 would become empty...no one would want to go out there. (Wanna trade? 14-15 makes enough money per run, is faster, and is safer too.) Blue *would* have a HUGE advantage. Gold would have an advantage as well...Red would further slip into /dev/null, since the Promy ISN'T ACTUALLY A FSCKING SPECIAL SHIP ANYMORE.

Who the hell cares that pirates have a home in 18? Like Buckaroo said, it takes forever to get back to the "real world."
Jul 21, 2003 Arolte link
Sorry Freeman, seems like you're outnumbered on this one. Why are you so hostile towards this? You're suggesting that I quit over it? Good god, CALM DOWN!!

The special ships weren't meant to be easily attainable. That's why the devs put it out at a remote location with hard bots. By setting your home to s18, you've pretty much eliminated that challenge completely. Sure there'll be a delay when you get back into combat, but you'll always know you'll get that very same ship back after death.

Once the ships are balanced out, if they're ever balanced out, I think people should really get to know their own nation's ship and learn to utilize the non-special ships (we NEED more testers for these). Vendetta isn't supposed to be a rocket ramming Valkyrie simulator (at least I hope not). It's supposed to have a wide range of pilots who have their own personal preferences and tasks, by whatever career they choose to follow. Individuality. It's a good thing.

Ooops... doesn't Martha Stewart say that?

I agree with freeman, i'd post something intelligent, but, it's 1:38 am, so i can't.

I've seen too many people leave 18 in a valk, park it in sector of choice, pick a bus, explode, repeat.

This is frigging stupid, it should not be possible to STOCKUP on special ships that easy.

Problem you have mentioned of prommy being nerfed is SEPARATE problem. Think about it, you only negative about it because you feel that one team is unbalanced. They are separate issues and must be dealt with individually.
