How to become a pirate:

Due to current ff rules, most serious pirates go for native KOS, so they can shoot anyone. The Itani have valks, and every good pirate wants those, so most pirates are not Itani. The Serco have proms, and many pirates want those, so most pirates are not Serco. UIT doesn't have... well... most pirates start as UIT.

There are other good reasons to start as UIT. I will not cover them.

Take the basic flight test, get a centurion and an hx, take the basic combat mission and farm collectors to level 3.

Take the shortest escort missions you can find going in the direction you want to travel, to build your pay role.

Work your corvus standing up (bulk trade missions) to a very high level.

AFTER your Corvus standing (and any other standings you want) is/are worked to the point that you want, go native KOS.

I suggest you do not declare your intention to go pirate until this point.

Great pirate ships: Corvus Marauder, Hornet2, TPG Atlas X, Serco Prom3.

Lecter said: Given the current economic downturn, I'd suggest avoiding law or business and focus on medicine.

Awww comeon, I hear bankruptcy attorneys are making a killing! Relatively speaking of course.

Hey, I'm not complaining (yet), but not every lawyer works at Wachtell, Cravath, or S&C. There's been a bloodbath here in NYC and out on the west coast at many, many other firms.

Greatest pirate ship: Centurion Rev C. Two out of two good pirates use 'em:)

If you are serious, all nation KOS is the way to go. Don't use the game mechanics for own nefarious purposes.

If you fancy yourself as a death defying cutlass swingning rat that extorts moneys and cargo from just about anyone that happens to cross your path, be that pirate. I am fully aware that it is possible and even beneficial to be very well liked with everything apart from your own nation, but what does that say about you? Trader?

Or you could decide to just forego the RP aspects and go for mechanics. In that case it really doesn't matter what you choose and so I am azuming that you are gunning for the RP factor as well. Do as Roda said and then go all nation KOS afterwards to become a credible pirate. Sorry Ret, you know my stance on this.

I hear you, Lecter. Engineers have worse times, too. We don't always get the job we want.

Ok, thanks everyone!

wat exactly are the reasons for which UIT is better for a pirate? Wont my standing with Itani go down if i kill Itani anyway so i wont be able to get the valk?

only if you kill them in itani space.

Azumi claims that the Rev-C is the very best pirate ship, which I think says something about his style of pirating. The Rev-C is a contender for the title of best fighter ship, but it only has 6cu of cargo space, so azumi isn't planning on hauling off much cargo from his kills. He obviously is planning on getting paid to not kill.

And this points out, what might be considered the best pirate ship, depends on what you consider pirating, and your style.

I claim that the very best pirate ships are the: Corvus Marauder, TPG Atlas X, Serco Prom3, Hornet2. Because these ships have a strong balance of speed, firepower, and cargo space.

Someone else might claim some other ship types, that matches their own style.

So to ask what is the best pirate ship, without telling us your style (if you even know your style yet), is an open ended question.

Correct Roda. As I stated, the best pirate ship right now is the best PvP ship because of the way piracy runs. I count on extortion, not on stealing cargo.

If I kill someone I can always return with a moth and pick it up. VO is after all so empty that there is no threat.

But, Hog Mk II, for the reasons I stated, is the best bet as I see it. As you so corectly say, it is a mater of style-

/me hands Roda two "her" and one "s". After all, I don't refer to you as her or she?

Ok sweet. i have combat 2, light weapons 2, heavy weapons one and the rest zero. I got a warthog mkII. When should i start pirating? oh and for weapons i have a plasma blaster HX and a large plasma blaster, i forget the name.
Feb 19, 2009 Dr. Lecter link
You need to buy some fc batteries and megaposi blasters, young troll. Then go forth and pirate as best ye can. Really, flying a Hog Mk II well as an interceptor has nothing to do with combat skills and everything to do with learning to shoot accurately without autoaim and with picking the correct angle of chase. Practice makes perfect.

wat liscences do i need for fc batteries? i think i got megaposi blaster (is it the first heavy energy gun i could get?)
can i start pirating with 2/2/1 ?

nvm i got names mixed up. how do i get the megaposi blaster?
