Excessive Vote Muting Reminder

cutting the votes and mutes to only 6 hours might do the job just as well.

A Mute should NOT be for guild chat or messaging as these have other ways they can be handled.

My opinion of course

Last I knew, /vote mute was 24 hours. However, I have known this to become broken in the distant past. I don't know for certain if the current code is behaving properly and I am dubious about the methods currently employed by users to check it. I have written incarnate regarding this issue and thread. I suspect that the devs are having a weekend off (probably monitoring the overall server health, but not specifics).

In the grand scheme of things, this can simmer until Tuesday, can't it?

Whistler: lol its lasted this long i'm sure it can last a few more days :) If someone else gets muted again this topic will start up again though.

I think if votes only lasted 12 to 24 hours that would fix most of the problems though.

I have also sent email last week and ask for a vote check feature, some way to check the vote count with out casting a vote. From this case (the person who is constantly muted in game) I dont think a quick response or anything of haste would be wise

Ok, lengthy thread.

We've been in touch with the person in question for the last week or so, and looking at changing/fixing how vote mute works, at least to a minimal extent to improve functionality. The votes last way too long, and persist past a successful muting, which is basically the central issue. Thus, vote muting a person is cumulative and it's relatively easy to keep them on the "borderline" of nearly being muted. If we simply expire extra votes, and disallow new votes, during the time from which they are muted until they are un-muted, a lot of this will go away. Each vote will have to start from scratch, as it should be.

We didn't post anything about this publicly, as we'd just been discussing it late last week, and didn't know there was substantial.. community debate.

(I've also been re-reading the old vote mute Suggestions forum threads for other possible changes, like public notice of who is voting and so on).

i dont think there should be public broadcasting of who is muting. it might lead to ... hate crimes. rather, ALL GUIDES AND DEVS should have a log of who is muting. that way if a player is repeatedly muting someone the appropriate action can be taken.

Ok, let's confine discussion of that topic, and other modifications, to this thread on Suggestions.

Before another thread is started let me say our friend peytros was muted again a few mins ago. He got most of those votes last night being a real troll/ass. He got the last few for just being himself. He didn't get muted because he was killing people but because he was being an ass.

If the proposed changes were made to only allow votes to last 24 hours he would still have gotten muted. And i for one think he deserved %90 of those votes because of his behavior.

No one was picking on him this time at least.

Just my 2 cents

Here's another solution: never sign on to 100. Most of it is really ego inflation anyways. Tempers rise, blah blah blah... /leave 100 fixes it.

Jess that is a load of crap all those people where saying just crap back to me that was just as bad IF not worse then what i said to them and then even when I was muted and couldn't defend myself people continued.

As it stands you can /vote mute someone for NO reason and until that is changed the system is easy to abuse

Okay, we've had point and counter-point made.

I think Incarnate made it clear that he sees the problem and plans to fix it.

I don't see anything else good coming of this thread.

Edit: Incarnate made some changes to vote mute in Vendetta 1.8.55
