I tried an ion storm one yesterday , the storm was there when I entered the sector but cleared after a few minutes . I too got the 4x reward . Not really a bug , more of a bit of space luck .

Tested large hive presence, critical hive presence, and central hive presence.

1) The large hive presence missions are rather easy to overcome if the mission just started. I'm not sure whether there is always a Trident in the sector or not and the same goes for the Queen. While flying around the sector, I notice Orun Collectors and Centaurs mining. I understand Oruns mining but the Centaurs? After watching a Centaur explode I see they carry a jackhammer rocket tube, if I don't say so myself but I think that a Centaur with a jackhammer and agt would prove far more useful as a combat ship than a mining ship. After a while of getting pounded by the Hive, I barely notice any mission notification other than looking in the Advancement Logs when the missions states how many more ships they are willing to sacrifice. I think the common bouncing mission "M" would help in notifying and not stopping until you go to your mission tab. When the mission fails it drops and all Xang Xi leave the sector. Then sector goes critical and a Queen warps in along with a Trident plus Xang Xi ships and a new mission is up and running. This is very clever and all but having to go back to the station and pick out the mission for the sector which you were just in is kind of combersome so I think forcing the next mission on the player by notifying that the sector they are in just when in to critical hive status would be great.

2) In a Critical Hive presence sector it is similar to a Large Hive Presence sector but the Queen and Trident float about and maybe both sides have picked up the pace with harder ships such as Overseers and Warthogs. Most of the time in sector the Trident usually doesn't move and is out of the major combat zone, this can be a strategic move but having a capital ship and not using it but for repair/reload can be a waste. Sometimes the Trident may actively persue the Queen and visa versa. I still see Centaurs and Oruns mining their own business. The mission can be rather easy if you find the Queen which maybe out of range and requires locating while it doesn't have any defenses of real importance or it maybe be mining/floating about a roid field and maybe with an escort. The only escort I saw for the Queen was a pair of Overseers which didn't attack until I knocked out the shield of the Queen. After taking out the Queen the mission is completed and I move on to the next.

3) Central Hive presence missions are near to impossible without multiple people or more and powerful capital ships. The sector is in pure chaos and almost near unplayable with all the cargo boxes floating about (shorten the timing is possible). The combat is fun with nothing but Overseers, Dentek Assault, and Arklan Guardians. Sometimes they actually give you a run for your money and may gang up on you with 2 or more. If there isa Trident, it is milling about far out of range of the battle and is useful as a repair/reload point. A few times it may be lured into battle but most of the time it floats far away.

All in all this new stuff is fun even with the bugs.

If failure eventually means standing loss I wouldn't want to be forced into the next mission.

During a mission I saw a bunch of allied ships sit behind the trident, doing nothing.

After bumping the trident hard it started targeting me.

I haven't noticed losing standing with Xang Xi nor do I see it in the advancement logs.

I didn't say now.
But there are (or used to be) some indicators that it may eventually. And most older missions penalize you for failure.

The next mission was starting quicker (1 min) than intended (3 min), and the delay will probably be quite a bit longer eventually. We can't currently give you a mission outside a station anyway, though we do intend you to eventually be able to start most missions from anywhere. We'll probably have a penalty for friendly fire at some point, but probably not for failing to kill enough Hive bots in time, and we wouldn't auto-commit you to something that could penalize you for just accepting.

As far as I know, we've fixed the bugs resulting in: no Hive bots in the target sector; incorrect storm-status; getting disconnected on docking/appearing-in-station and one other sector-disconnect. Please report it if you encounter any of these (or anything else obviously).
