Great job Ghost, but I don't see how this could become the official trailer anytime soon... It's way to big, (even in the little crappy compression,) to add to the game. And if you want to do the intro like some games do and show it using the game engine then you'll have a helluva time re-writing it to run on the engine...

Good luck,
Calder

Ok, well, heres mine in mpeg 1, so _anyone_ should be able to play it, yeah, its a little bigger and a little less clear, but doze folk wont have to go digging around for the ffmp4 directshow filter ;P

Snapz Pro is one way.

For MS Windows, FRAPS is the most common (and was used for Ghost's video, as shown by the FRAPS watermark on the top). For Macs, Snapz Pro, and for Linux xvidcap (which I've actually gotten working moderately well, I should go add to the thread in the Linux forum about what I did...).

Nice job, Ghost et al. Yet Another Distribution Method to consider is Google Video. I've been meaning to upload the various other VO videos I've got to Google Video, but I haven't gotten around to it.

Haha - "backseat encoders." Lol - sorry, didn't mean to come off that way, momerath. It was actually pretty good - a small file size for such good quality. All these different video codecs are freakin' annoying anyways.

Great job, Ghost.

That was a lot of fun. Thanks Ghost!

AS A REWARD FOR GHOST'S HARD WORK:

I say the Devs delete the old character "Ghost" that has been sitting idle for Lord knows how long without ever logging in, and change "_Ghost_" to "Ghost".

Ghost: GOOD WORK !! Loved It.
Yoda: Thanks for the mpeg. Without that , I would never have bothered to watch it.
My only question is why did it take so long to download? I smoked two cigarettes
and drank a beer before it was finished. I've downloaded QuickTime High Definition
(full screen) videos in less time...
What is the music? It sounded like the soundtrack of "Starship Troopers."

I second that Leber.

Heh, yes one of the songs was from Starship Troopers. The first one was something I ripped off of my good old Mechwarrior 2 CD. The one at the credits is from The Thirteenth Warrior.

@Leber: Yes! lol, that has always irked me. I've never once seen the character "Ghost" online (not even back in beta), but it is definitely taken. Curse these damn underscores!

Loved the video Ghost, heres a little suggestion, attempt to record the different sounds of the weapons and then add them throughout the video during the fight sence, especially when the music dulls off and we frist enter combat. ^^

*played in the warthog*.... why did I have to die? lol
Jan 29, 2006 Ghost link
=) that makes me smile Chikira.

You want to know a secret?

I already did.

A good half of what was filmed had no audio due to some complications with my recording. So I took samples of all the weapon sounds as well as different explosions and edited them in for several scenes.

I'll give you a few of the scenes that had no sound, see if you can tell:

The warthog death

The vulture death (as well as the entire roid chase scene)

The centurion death

The first battle shot (after the title)

Plus several others

Strangely enough, the scene where the music dulls off and we first enter combat actually had real audio with it. I guess I should have upped the volume on it.

Wonderful. Thanks, Ghost, voice actors, and pilots.

I can see my already on-going VO recruitment program boosted more than a few AU by this.

(On a side-note: I really must apply for a voice actor role in the next community production. To think that my name would be forever etched into the endtitles of a VO community movie... it's almost Hollywood boulevard)
