FYI: no changes have been made to any gameplay stuff in this version (aside from the Vulture collision hull). Definitely no stats changes.. like weapon drain or ship mass.
Also, regarding the normal mapped asteroids. It looks kinda like the object-space normal mapped objects aren't bumped. I've already emailed ray about this.. we'll look into it. Most other things don't use that shader (old, fixed-function pipline shader). The stuff with "new" (DX8/DX9) shaders seems ok.

Lots of good fixs Incarnate, the only problem which still persist's is sometimes Vendetta refuses to let you slow down when hitting 's'. Could jump be an error on my part with caps lock of something else but it is rather annoying, I find it occurs more often without FA on.
great: you broke down the ship buy menu into categories
super: no more 'quit game' button in 'buy ship' menu
fantastic: no more scrolling 15 times to buy a behemoth
wonderful: we can see faction standing in station
yay: we can now sell full ships (when it works)
--------------------------------
needs work: there are many missing keyboard shortcuts in new menu system (good thing for an intern to do)
needs more work: the universe inventory at station is not sorted in any way. at the very least it could be alphabetical by system name.
also needs work: i click on some ships and items and i cannot sell them. i click 'sell' and nothing happens.
annoying: the categories are 'large' 'small' and 'other', not exactly helpful. imagine if you went into a library and they had books categorized this way.
bummer: typing /help into the irc/unix style console log does not display a list of / commands. this shit should all be unified. at the very least the f1 command should have a button at the bottom 'list / commands' or something.
weird: why is the character faction standing number a 'rollover' in the station menu? why shouldnt we just have the numbers printed out there so we can just see them?
------------------------------------------
crash: scanning a ship w mineral scanner = frequently crash
-------------------------------------------
overall: get someone else to do the boring grunt UI work that you dont want to do, ie thinking about proper names for buttons and windows, categorizing menus, making keyboard shortcuts, making the interface consistent, considering noob reaction, and other 'boring stuff' that manly man programmers do not want to waste their time on.
example: the 'disconnect' button while entering a station is completely inconsistent with the rest of the entire game. why cant they press 'escape' and 'log out' here like they can elsewhere? and what about when 'speeding through space'... wht is that 'cancel', when it is 'disconnect' and 'logoff' elsewhere? do you really need these quit buttons sticking out in an apparently random place?
Oh i know the response from some people. " THOSE ARENT BUGS ITS UI CRAP WHO CARES YOU DUMB LIBERAL BLEEDING HEART COMMIE ".
my response to anyone who thinks that:
they are serious bugs. and you're a coward.

1. Grouping caused me serious Lua errors, then took away all radar indicators, as well as wormhole and storm exit displays. No group status display.
2. No duelling with the new UI, either. Both -accept "PlayerName" and -accept %target% cause LUA errors adb fail to function.
3. During trade missions, on intermediate dockings and completing trade missions, the small LUA error box appears.
4. Upon trade mission completion, mission stays active, until you abort mission or logoff/logon (sometimes it's sufficient to go to the "opions" screen). If you abort, only trade missions are available on the mission list.
5. When purchasing addons (weaps or mining beams), purchasing 1, then 1 more of the same item (in lieu of purchasing qty 2) bumped me out to the login screen.
6. Pressing the 'max' button for puchasing weapons sets the quanity to the max cargo available, not the nuber of weapons ports available.
Request: could "Credits Available" be listed on the Commerce screen someplace?

Like: When you dock you always end up in the last window you were in. Very cool. It means trading is faster, as is reloading.
Don't get it moment of the day: Why are the 'Unload All' and 'Unload and Sell All' buttons under the window, while the rest of the unload buttons are in the center? They should all be in one place.

Bug: Primary Fire 1 Autoaim does not work on the valk. The autoaim recticle parks on the targeted ship and stays red. Primary Fire 2 autoaim does work. Other ships seem fine.

Ramming friendlies still hurts me
Bug: When attempting to join a group a lua error appears and the thing which shows the ships direction dissappears, all movement is stopped and in an attempt to log off a lua error appears again. Forceing me to Force quit the game.
Overall no other bugs

First of all nice work, second i only had one problem and that was joining a group, some kind of error.
Bug: everytime I go to change controls settings and come back the flight assist is on even though I unchecked it in the settings
Bug: The settings to select Keyboard/Mouse do not "stick" as well. They always jump back to Keyboard/joystick.

Suggestion:
You have to make clear what tabs are level 1 for example and what tabs are the belonging sublevel tabs. I see it as confusing the way it is "same importance" visually. To accomplish this I suggest making the main tabs on top left larger or more embedded into the page design and make the right hand side tabs into just buttons or somehow else indicate the subordinate nature. I really got confused the way it is now. It took me 2 minutes to figure out how to add weapons to my ship and when purchasing a ship it needs to give feedback, I bought 4 ships before I knew it. Once a ship is purchased it needs to show some graphic or text to show that it is the "active" ship I am working with at the time. Sometimes it seems I am "losing" the ship when I try to add weapons to it. A message something like "Vulture MkII purchased and added to your inventory. 3421c have been deducted from your account." could be a good thing.
Also some load status when logging on would be nice, progress bars are helpful always. Other things seem not "lined up visually", probably due to the beta. Function comes definitely first. The "parfumaria" can be dealt with once it works right. ;-)

For me, this update was a lot buggier than the last one. Here's the list of bugs I found on it, plus some pics:
1. I exited a station, and once inflight the chat screen was red. People had kep talking on 100 but the chat screen hadn't scrolled down with the conversation, and so it was showing as if I had scrolled up. Not a big deal, but annoying.
2. I was flying a hog. It seems the green mesh graphic that goes with your health, at the right side of the HUD was either missing or corrupt, because I got a green block instead. Also, the odometer numbers still get clipped when you hit 200 m/s.

3.The 3D bound box is still freaky.
http://makchuga.itanialliance.com/images/bound_box.jpg
4.At one point, while traveling throguh Odia, my audio began to break up. It lasted for about 30 seconds, then went quiet for about five, and then resumed. I wasn't doing anything but turboing towards a wormhole, again in the hog, which was a TD, if that matters.
5. I suddenly got these weird error messages on the chat screen, again while flying around in my hog: "Error: trying to remove objects(18:325)" and "Error: trying to remove objects(18:356)".
http://makchuga.itanialliance.com/images/error_msg.jpg
6. I was chatting away instation, but then it began to hit me with a Lua error window. The window didn't go away until I clicked on the "group" chat radio button, and then back to "channels."

7. Not a bug, but something I foresee creating problems. I size my screen at 800x600 and the lettering on the wormhole HUD indicators is very tiny; I expect it to be unreadable at higher resolutions.

8. From time to time, instation or space, I'll get a small Lua error box that only shows up the "close" button. Clikcing on it only closes the window, though (in the first iteration of the new UI the game crashed).
This is a 1GHz Windoze PC with XP SP2, 512Megs o' RAM.

First impression: the new client looks great! I also like it that the station screen uses the preferred resolution instead of the lo-res that the current stable client uses. Or is that just all in my head? :)
Bug: "replenish all" in the ammo menu doesn't work. The button chimes when you click on it, my ammo is not replenished, and (thank fully) I'm not charged for it :)
FYI: I'm running Linux. Not sure if this bugs show up on evil empire operating systems.
Feature request: add a hint to show which ship each weapon belongs to. Now I have two of the same missile launchers on two different ships, and I have to guess which is which.
Cheers,
Harry

Bug: you can only see the selling price of things you have in stock. The good thing is that it doesn't clutter your screen with things you usually don't care about, but sometimes I do want to browse it all. Make it optional?

OS: Mac 10.2.8
Videocard: I have no idea but it's worked until now
Processor: 800mhz G4
Errors:
1) grouping nukes the client. I won't go into details, because it's probably just that youguys haven't finished the grouping code.
2) sometimes chat doesn't work in stations. when you say something, it doesn't appear until you leave the station, and what other people say doesn't either
3) when I press `, I get a screen that says console. now, I hope to heaven that this is going to be a notepad, but whatever it is right now gives me a LUA error when I try and use it
Congratulations:
Hey, even if you said you don't want it, you deserve it! Great work everyone, the client looks great!

*server connection time out* windows version has difficulty luanching and maintaining a connection
Odd. Mine doesn't, Chikira.
I can't get past the initial launch. The Vendetta-Online screen shows up at 800 x 600 resolution (I'm usually on an iMac at 1440 x 900), then it looks like when it attempts to refresh the screen, I get a bluescreen (just like when I switch screen resolutions) and I crash to the Finder. I get an error log that the Mac wants to send to Apple. You want it?

I'll guess that it has something to do with my graphic card. I'm running 10.3.9 and have an nVidia GeForce FX 5200 64 MB video card:

So, as much as I would like to participate in testing this beta client, I am unable to do so... :(

Neither can I Leber, I haven't gotten past "entering Universe" in either beta.
I've been assured that it is being studied.
