you know with the money you save buying a PC you could buy a months worth of medicine for a starving african AIDS baby.

MacIntel iMac G5 is about the price of an OK PC, while it's a REALLY GOOD Mac. :)

Like PCI Express x1600, dual 2.0 ghz.,... It rox compared to a windows that prioce. I'd have to say it's more worth the prioce than windows!

ananzi, I already gave significantly more than the price of this new computer to Drs Without Borders. One of the best humanitarian charities anywhere. I'd gladly double it rather than buy a PC.

I'm buying one of the 1.83GHZ Intel iMac G5s as soon as I can scrape together the $200 I need.

Then, once I have a new computer, I will (collective gasp) ACTUALLY SUBSCRIBE!!!!1!!111!!!!ONE!!!

My boss just bought two dual 2.7 G5s for work...
We just can't wait until the Intel's come out. We are soooo far behind as it is...
We still have an 8500 working here...scary!!!

We'll be getting the Intel Duo's when all the software for the PowerPCs is no longer compatible with what all of our clients send us...

If they ever come out with an Intel Duo Mini with more than a crappy 32meg video card, I'll buy one!!!!

I just bought a Quad Core G5, only to listen to a couple morons tell me how the new iMac is 2.5 times faster* than my new computer. Riiiiight. I won't have a Intel based mac for at least a year. I tend to wait until the bugs get worked out, and a stable, reliable and tested platform is available.

Actually, for the past year or so, Apple's been running most of their stuff on the Intel machines, so they've got pretty much all of the bugs out of them.

It's not a matter of bugs. It's raw processing speed.

The intel macs have a 667mghz bus while the Quad G5 uses 2 dual core chips in two 1.25ghz busses.

Just the raw amount of data you can shove through them it gonna toast the IntelMac.

Still, for mondaine tasks, int new Duo Core Intel macs are spiffy.

Probably the MacDesk or w/e (lOl name) will have a faster bus speed. :)

mgl_mouser: Actually, the iMac G5 (to which a comparison would be more apt) had a 633mhz bus. While it's not that big a jump (w00 34mhz!), it's still not quite fair to compare it to the crazyass powerhouse that is the Quad G5 and expect it to add up.

I'm waiting for a Mac Pro to replace my G4.

Ananzi: Screw Africa. If you want to do some good, how about helping Americans
who are starving and dying of various illnesses because they can't afford health care
IN THIER OWN COUNTRY ?????

On another note, I've been looking at the Quad-Core G5 for a while now. Crap. Now we have the Intel Macs. I am going back to the "watch and wait" mode, to see
what sort of High End machines come out. Lap-Tops suck. iMacs are OK, but I want MORE !!!

Relayer, not only are you a froofy Mac user, you are a bleeding heart liberal! I was just pretending to care in order to draw out the left wing nutjobs.

Those starving babies should just pull themselves up by their boot straps, like in Starship Troopers.

Rattman: Anyone who criticizes America under Bush is criticizing Jesus. Prepare to be sent straight to hell!

OK, I'd rather be twice as "froofy" and liberal as I am than buy a PC.

*critisises Jesus, critisises Bush, a LOT*

I don't care if your religious, I'm not personally, but if you side with bush I really have to point you to a mental instetute. That guy is mentally unstable, and a bloody moron to top it all off.

BIC: Oooooh, I can't wait for the desktop intel macs to come out, probably gonna kick the crap out of the PC industry. ^ . ^

*hangs a sign around ananzi's neck, reading 'Do not feed.'*

And it's not about bugs. It's about stuff you can't tell in advance. But as I said, I will wait at least a year, as well, until I will consider a new Macintosh after getting me a quad-core G5 as soon as possible.
