woo!
So is the new stuff still only in Sedina?
The Hive will only expand in Sedina for the moment. there will eventually be three hives. Basically, I only want it to be in one sector so we can tune the expansion parameters. Otherwise, the entire universe could be overrun by the Hive before enough users got together to push it back.
Bah, why use Sedina? Cant you guys use Odia? ffs, i mean, I had considered ctcing again, with my freshly created yoda char, but **** that if even more attention in drawn to Sedina. Sheesh! And you say your not anti-serco john? sheesh.
[Edit]
I dont see cap ships attracting people to bractus, or racetracks, and now this?

Hmmmm... will have to take the ol' Moth for a test drive, see how it flies now... might be I'll need to remove greyspace from my trading runs altogether.
Regarding dropping the Moth's turbo thrust to 1000kN: when you start playing with the economy, I'd suggest making the more massive trade goods worth more than the less massive trade goods. With its new turbo thrust, a Moth full of Luxury Goods will be much safer than a Moth full of Ferric Ore - but the Moth full of Lux Goods is going to make a MUCH larger profit. Which is why IMO dropping the max turbo speed more than the turbo thrust is a better solution to removing the Moth's invulnerability.
It also makes the situation worse with the 3cu trade goods: they're already usually not as worthwhile to trade, because they usually make less than 3 times the profit 1cu trade goods do, but we can cart around 3 times as many 1cu trade goods. As the 3cu trade goods also tend to be more massive per cu than the most profitable 1cu trade goods, the Moth having a lower thrust makes it that much less desirable to trade the 3cu goods.

Actually, I just did the math. Even with its turbo thrust dropped to 1000kN, the Behemoth still has much higher turbo acceleration than anything else. So I'm OK with it being dropped. But I still stand by what I said about taking item mass & volume more into consideration when you're playing with the economy.

Forget everything else, THERE IS NO - NO FIRE ZONE AT SEDINA D-14 (best thing thats happend since release!) YAY!
We're in trouble now. But at least yoda told us about it :)
Geeze yoda, what did I do now? I didn't even pick Sedina, I was going to put it in Odia, but someone else suggested Sedina and I have no problem with it. Greyspace is greyspace to me, I just wanted it far from newbies while we tested the explansion numbers. I may well move it once I figure out how to best reallocate mineral resources (the Hives will be located on areas of rich Xithricite and other needed minerals, and there will be a Hive in Itani, Serco and greyspace, to create contention for minerals/ores). Regardless of where the Stronghold is located, the "attention" is going to come when the Hive starts to overrun whatever area they occupy, once we allow it to expand through wormholes. You do realize the point is to replace all existing bots with dynamic Hive expansion, right? I don't see how this is any more "anti-serco" than it is "anti-itani" or "anti-people-who-get-killed-by-bots". It just makes it all have a Point.
I also don't understand the comment about the racetracks or capital ships, but I had nothing to do with either of those things.. Andy just kind of stuck them in there to make some use of them (and they seem ok to me?). My plans are unrelated.
CTC is nice and all, but it's going to be replaced/reworked along with all our other cool-idea-but-half-broken gameplay mechanics that have no relation to each other or anything else. I'm trying to wrap everything together into a cohesive interesting game where stuff actually Matters, and what your character needs to do makes sense. I'm sure this is all because I have a deep-seated resentment of the Serco, a nation I created and played more actual hours on than any other ;).
<sigh>. Anyway, I guess I can't make everyone happy all the time. just doing my best to make things better.

Nor is there one at Sedina L2, nor apparently, are there any Strike Forces anywhere.
Anywhere? Or just the 3 stations in Sedina?
Sorry Inc. my bad, it does seem like the game is very broken right now (as for as the nation balance goes) and yeah CTC is my major beef, as its been broken in favour of Itani for so long now, its just stupid (especially when the nt3 DOES make a big difference in PvP) and IMHO adding more attention to Sedina was a bad idea (Race tracks, cap ship battles, and now the *test* hive, but thats OK, its all Shapes fault anyway).
*sigh* - I cannot see the future any better than the next player, I guess (as always) im just gunna have to wait for the arrival of Soon(tm)
Beolach, aye, station guards seem to be working outside Sedina, no sign of a strikeforce, even upon violation of NFZ.

Oh noes... teh HIVE!!!
Hooray for Mauds.
Hooray for Mauds.
Eh? Did Marauders get tweaked, too?
Incarnate: If a single instance of the new Hive in Sedina is what is required to work out some of the logistics/kinks, then so be it. The proliferation of advanced Hive populations (i.e., Leviathans) to other systems could be a very natural progression. :-D
What will be truly interesting to me is how VO handles a greater integration of trading and mining with ship/weapon/station acquisition and creation... which of course ties in with increased combat options. To mine and trade simply for credits is OK. To participate in those activities because they greatly benefit your guild with bigger and badder toys is far more exciting.

Remember all, this is just the beginning. The hive is not fully incorporated yet. I can't wait to see the whole fully functioning hive in action.
No no fire zone's? SWEET.
/me pulls Incarnate away from Yoda. "It's okay, most of us still like you guys"
One thing that worries me about the new hive is that I think I have an average ping usually (60-80) but even with every bit of graphics setting on lowest possible without being off, the Levi sector was still really jumpy. How's this gonna be for the people with 100-200 ping?

Smittens: Throwing some thoughts on the table...
I wonder if it is ping (network connection/traffic metric) or if it is local hardware/software ability to render all of those ships on-screen -- in particular, the Levi -- which is the true issue.
Hmmm, when I tried out crack botting a little while back, I rarely ever had a problem with the smoothness of gameplay when the sector became innundated with bots (and a few other players).

Lead: that's the plan. Right now we have a lot of disparate elements that don't really converge in any useful way. Mining is a way to make money but has no other purpose, and doesn't really affect much. Trading is the same. Etc. I'm aiming to tie everything together in a more interesting way, making combat more useful while also having other gameplay mechanics impact the rest of the game in more useful ways. Mining becomes required for crafting, which is needed for high-level content, which requires dealing with the Hive who also wants the ore/minerals, etc etc..
Well i wish you would hurry up and fix station guards in sedina (and maybe leave the strikeforces broken, thats neat, hehe), its getting mighty tempting to get a crew together and lmine all three stations,...lol
Ok, i guess i did over react, but I guess i'm only human too :P the moth is kinda neat right now (I have been trading all day in it, not pirating, even niki tried, i still made my run :) but it was a lot closer than before, and its possibly now catchable with the right setup (which frankly, wont be good for much but catching moths) - the Hive thing? Well I hope it works out OK, but *smarter* doesnt mean they dodge every shot because they know it coming but still attack with the same dumb pattern each time, hows about having an agression atribute in AI ?
IE 2 ty's attack, one wants to be defensinve (low aggro rating) and trys to stay 200m away while attacking, ones got a high rating, trys to get 100m to blat you, conciquence it can be shot easier, hmm, i might write a suggestion post on this, and start being positive rather than negative again, sorry about before, i really am.
