Nya, no it's not about license levels, I purposefully keep a lower license (combat 5) 'cuz I like seeing that nice green bonus for blowing up high level players ;)
It's about BALANCE. If one activity is drastically more rewarding than others, everyone will be doing said activity. Such does not make for a happy MMORPG. Now perhaps in this case this is not such a bad thing, I would rather see people interact in group PvP than whittle their time away botting solo. I think only time will tell.
Also, in my personal opinion people should not be maxing out their levels in 2 days... pvp oriented or no. You need to have a slightly longer treadmill than that, with more sight-seeing along the way.

These kind of upheavals are bound to happen every once in a while in a game where everything can evolve. That is what gives this game such potential. Let me make a few points:
1. Veterans are not going to be happy with every change that takes place.
2. The devs do things for reasons that are not always completely apparent to players at the time when something is implemented.
3. Things can and will be adjusted when there are imbalances when the devs feel it is necessary.
4. New players need to be retained for the game to continue.
5. What makes veterans in this game isn't the XP levels, it is the way they play and conduct themselves in the game. This means enforcing the importance of skill, technique, honor, discussion, role-playing, and innovation that makes this game's culture unique and worthwhile.

in most of the other mmorpg it is nothing but a treadmill. You start at leavel 0 and you end at level unreachable. I don't like that, and I am sure that many people in here agree also.
However instant gratification (so the opposite of the above), is not the way to go either it might be fun and entertaining to see your level shoot up to the max. But where is the aftergame? once you are level 10/10/10/10/10 what is hte point of continuing on... since there is no new equipment, there is no better equipment yet. You might say that the game is a pvp game. But its NOT, its supposed to be an RPG with fps inclinations, not an FPS with rpg inclinations... And 2 days is a bit little to go from 0 to hero.
It took me like 8 - 9 day of playing very dedicated to gain a high level (like 8/9/9). The way how you would balance it when you impliment a new feature is to make sure that the feature doesn't make the other totally useless. Meaning that you would make it at least take the same amount of time to level up and therefore give comparable rewards.
Although I wouldn't mind to increase the rewards once you are going higher as combat 9, as long as the combatmissions get a comparable increase. A game is always about choice and diversification.
Besides 3 months ain't that long to max out. Although im sure most people can do it in 1 month of +- normal playtime. Which in comparable standards isnot much. Heck comparing it with the uberpvp oriented (or so it advertizes itself) GW, i topped out a char in 7 days. In non dedicated gametime (of +- 1 - 2 hours a day it would take a month).
So really it wasn't that bad, the only problem was that the increase after was increasing exponentionally and the rewards were going down drastically increasing the time to gain more levels above really comfortable standards. I'm sure that once the missions come rolling in (storyline), this will all be handled differently. And i hope that advancing the storyline will be the way to gain licences nad not just going out there and killing one bot after the other in a mindnumbing manner. Although nobody will stop you from doing that. But the time spent on either would be the same. Its then just a matter of taste.

I agree that even if somebody has high levels it doesn't make them good, I have never been realy good at pvp. And, if there is a reset, I am NOT putting all this time into botting/missions to level up my charecters again.
what time vincent?
2 days...
2 days...
Geeez, Dragon. Dem R sum hi lvls.
If the levels get reset I'll definitely stop playing. I have one character and it's taken me 7 months to get to 9/11/11/11/8. I look at all the hard "work" I've done to get those levels, with a little bit of crackbotting (Maybe 20,000 xp worth) and a little bit of BP missions (Maybe 30,000 xp worth), heck the rest was killing queens, shooting TyCorps, blasting artemis collectors, etc.
Having to work my way back up to be able to purchase my IDF Valkyrie would be too much. But if the devs are going to fix the BP experience missions, they had better do it NOW. Sooner rather than later.

I would like to point out that I have a perfectly good itani char and not I want to choose a different aspect, I have leveled up other chars an even if I get high levels in 2 long, hard days in which I died over 50 times trying to fininsh all the missions. Its like a reset, almost, if i had to waste another 3 monthes to get ok licences on another charecter, I wouldn't even bother with playing this game at all. I'm glad I could get up to nearly the levels that I had before. Now I have 2 chars leveled up and I can only use one at a time, so does it even make such a difference?
We're not going to reset anybody. Except whoever started the rumor.
I also just toned down the rewards a bit.

Whew *very releived*
That is good to know...
I'm glad i can have two chars that are good levels in opposing nations without people criticising me *ahem*

just my comment on a full reset. I did several of them while I was in beta. For sure I would not tolerate one again now that I pay and you can be sure I would quit this game to never come back. Unless the devs would reset my levels as they are now.
So I pray this will never happen.

I would like to say that I love the BP, and im sorry lots of people didnt try it before.
[Edit]
Eiher make a Serco station in Deneb, or make one capturable by one team soon, rather than Soon, an Ion storm is much too simple, you can go round it, you cannot go round a worm hole, and I can see some undesirables (like me!) camping the wh to get free kills!

BP is great, I agree with Yoda. I wish i had checked it out earlier. It reminds me of the day when BLAK was still around. Except we didn't get tons of xp when we finally did manage several kills in a row. :D
Tons of people flying around, rockets coming and going and not really sure where everybody is or who's going to fire right up your back side. I only wish it didn't require so much in rewards for people to want to play.
[edit] that was unfair of me to say, i meant such high rewards for people to flock to play BP.

A serco station would be good, but against the plot, I realy love BP, even though I am getting killed every time by being shot in the back, it is a good combat experience.
yeah BP mission is fun.
the coolest combat mission (it's half PvE & PvP) and the hardest combat mission.
so rewards must be attractive.
(PvP is hard and ships expensive)
Not forcing us (fighters) to do "Trade" for moneys.
The combat mission is also a job now => moneys.
I am happy.
a1k0n "I also just toned down the rewards a bit".
well now it must be alright (balanced)! :-)

"OH NOES! THE STUPID BOTS GANGED ME AGAIN WHILE I WAS FIGHTING!"
how annoying
/me goes to Corvus to see if any old Avalons are for sale

Deneb was pwned by Serco at one point in the backstory, read it again, where are your goliath cannons now? muhaaha
/me points to the area behind yoda

I don't understand why people complain so much about needing time to level a character... rome wasn't build on a say either. Nor did you grow up in a day. I'm already happy that the time needed to level a char isn't to great 1 - 2 months of casual gameplay.
if you go and play balgurs gate or any rpg for that matter, you don't get a max level character right from the batt. Nor do you get all the best equipment from the start. And if you hten choose to make another character, you need to redo it all. That is exactly what makes it into a RPG and not an fps. Building up a character from scratch is what makes you proud. Not powerlevelling to get to the point where you might expect the best equipment etc...
that is also one of the reasons why i think you can draw that line on to the weapons and the ships. Low level does not mean junk. Otherwise we can just throw away all shps below combat or trade 9. Levels means access to diversity, not to the best one available. At least that is my view.
And the pwoerlevelling that has gone on (2 frigging days for levelling a char with omg a little over 50 deaths) after which there is no need to level anymore. Can anybody tell me why we then even have levels and licences...
Just go back to spacequake and be done with it then...)
And just to be an ass... if there is no reroll I'll stop paying... (see I can make the same hollow threats...)

I agree, for the most part. I can say this because I have already leveled up a char to realy good levels. I don't have the time to go botting all day, however. Don't critecise me for only wanting another nation char.
The issue is mainly that in Baldurs Gate, or whatever other game, your levelling up comes naturally; you're playing the game to advance through the story, not killing dudes over and over just to increase your stats. That's the problem: stats-getting should not be the only goal.
