Yes, it does. Even picked off a Serco Sky Prom with it. Well, sort of. We killed each other in a fiery jet of flames. After which i wisely went a different trade route. It works rather well against pirates that try to get money though, since you can just drift in a non threatening manner as if you're typing.

yeah well, proms occasionally have issues getting away from swarms if they're too close (under 30 m).

But I do most of my piracy from a Rev C, and swarms really aren't threatening at all.

I would also like to point out, that most pirates would rather you didnt pay, and the hail is just a courtesy to say *hey, im going to shoot at you!*, sure, if you pay me I will stop, but that isnt going to get me my 500pk badge is it?

I would like to see a 1,000 PK badge as well so tramshed has a new goal in life. And a 5,000 PK is he's exceeded 1,000 already...

I would also like to see ship accel-o-meters, we can do 0-60 accel times for the ships, and then yoda would be happy. Even better would be a readout on the speed differential between you and your target, time to intercept, etc. I'll post in suggestions but I have a feeling that yoda already has...
